49.gif UPDATE 1

Euphora's Backgroundffice6.gifffice />

    This is my new city journal named Euphora. I ended my last one, Tropicana Islands, Many City Journals In One. Search for it in the forums. I really appreciate it if you leave a comment or suggestion if you visit this city journal. It will inspire me to continue, and also give me some new ideas!

    Here is a little background information on Euphora. Euphora is located on an island in the Rowell Sea right off the coast of the mainland. It population is just over 160K. Euphora is a center of entertainment and commerce. Soon to come is a public arena, and possibly an international airport.

    Euphora has three main districts; the Financial District, Theater District, and Museum District. The Financial District is where many large corporation towers are found, and is the largest of the three. It is located on the lower part of the island. The Theater District is another large neighborhood where actors entertain Sims in many theatrical productions, including some from Broadway. The newest district, the Museum, is located uptown next to Euphora University. The area is for new money proffesionals who invest in many works of art from Renaissance sculptures to abstract drawings. Many museums are found here.

    Since Euphora is located on an island, an expansive mass transit system is needed to transport Sims to and from work each day. Euphora's layout of roads is quite helpful for allowing smooth traffic in the city. Also, two 6-lane bridges connect the island of Euphora to the mainland. Additionally, in downtown, two subway lines run north and south connecting the Museum District to the Financial District. On every corner of the city is a bus stop. One of the most helpful additions to the city's mass transit system is the ferry. Every day, over 10,000 Sims take the ferry to commute around the city. It is quite helpful in reducing traffic problems.

    In this update, I will not show any inner city pics, but rather a map of downtown. In downtown, all the streets are named, and for the North-South Avenues, a legend attatched on the pic is there. By tonight, some inner city shots of Euphora can be seen. Until now, enjoy the pics, and leave a comment!

    49.gif UPDATE 2

    Downtown Euphora

    Welcome to Downtown Euphora! The city is now over 200,000 Sims! Euphora is one of the nicest cities to live in. Now here are some inner city shots!

    <ahttp://img34.exs.cx/img34/2865/downtowneuphoraaug643111249372.jpg align=baseline>

    <ahttp://img34.exs.cx/img34/6854/downtowneuphoraaug314311124938.jpg align=baseline>

    Pic 2 - This is the Euphora Bridge, which connects the city to the mainland. The Euphora Bridge is the Euphora Expressway which runs through most of the mainland. It handles alot of traffic each day as commuters from the mainland come to the city.

    <ahttp://img25.exs.cx/img25/5029/downtowneuphorasep543111249390.jpg align=baseline>

    Pic 3 - The Gregory T. Halliway Memorial Bridge runs parallel to the Euphora Bridge and crosses the Euphora River. This bridge handles less traffic then the Euphora, and has a shorter span.

    <ahttp://img25.exs.cx/img25/8871/downtowneuphoraaug254311124938.jpg align=baseline>

    Pic 4 - This is Harwood Island. It sits in the Euphora River and is between the Euphora Bridge and Halliway Bridge. The Harwood Span connects the island to the city, but its main access is the ferry. Over 8,000 commuters travel daily from the island to the city through the ferry!

    <ahttp://img25.exs.cx/img25/9985/downtowneuphoraaug294311124938.jpg align=baseline>

    Pic 5 - The Museum District: The Museum District is uptown. Many museums are located here with thousands of expensive and delicate art, from sculptures to million dollar paintings. The area is close to Euphora University.

    Pic 8 - City Hall/Grande Park: City Hall has an elaborate architecture and is located across Grande Park on Glenn Avenue. The Financial District skyscrapers surpass the green and City Hall.

    Pic 9 - Holy Cross Church: Holy Cross Church is located on Temple Street and Second Avenue in the city. Its elaborate Romanesque architecture is amazing to look at during the day. Hundreds attend mass every Sunday.

    <ahttp://img166.exs.cx/img166/5738/downtowneuphoraoct843111249424.jpg align=baseline>

    Pic 11 - Seaside Boardwalk/Seaside Highway: Seaside Boardwalk is right along the Rowell Sea. Seaside Highway flanks it, with large skyscrapers. It is a beautiful area right along the blue sea.

    <ahttp://img166.exs.cx/img166/8839/downtowneuphorasep304311124941.jpg align=baseline>

    Pic 12 - The Harbour Hotel: The Harbour Hotel overlooks Lloyd Harbor and the Rowell Sea. Its great views and luxury rooms make it the nicest spot to stay in Euphora. It is located between Potter and Shoal Avenues on Seaside Highway.

    <ahttp://img155.exs.cx/img155/2476/downtowneuphorasep234311124940.jpg align=baseline>

    Pic 13 - The Theater District: The Theater District is the classiest section of the city with entertainment around every corner. Broadway productions and live comedy shows can be found here. Now the opera business is becoming popular here. The district starts on Theatre Street and ends on Hunter Street.

    You've built yourself a very nice private island! I love the  forested isles and peninsulas, again very eyecandy! I really see a big difference if I compare this stuff with your earliest work: it looks much much better now

    Keep it up44.gif44.gif

    49.gif UPDATE 4

    Perennas Island

    Thanks for the 5 comments everyone!! You don't know how much I appreciate feedback from people. Thanks alot. And MayorTim- I will upgrade (or downgrade if you will) the 4 lane avenue leading onto Pericomo Island.

    <ahttp://img118.exs.cx/img118/9620/perennas3mk.gif align=baseline>

        Perennas Island is an island located off Euphora Island in the Euphora River. It has a really small size, but for a matter of fact, 8,000 people live here! Its only access to Euphora Island is through the Perennas Bridge. The island is one giant hill jetting out of the river where the sea meets it. It is both commercial and residential, but many residents prefer to work on Euphora Island rather than on Perennas.

    <ahttp://img17.exs.cx/img17/5641/northendfeb10911125505453pa.jpg align=baseline>

    Pic 1 - Perennas Island: The populous island has educational, health, and saftey services, and is only linked to Euphora Island through bridge.

    Perennas Bridge A Success!

    Since so many people commute a day to and from the island, traffic can get rather annoying for some. The Perennas Bridge is a limited throughfare that connects the bustling North End district to the island. Each commute experiences 7,000 people travelling to and from the island. Look at the pic below.

    <ahttp://img166.exs.cx/img166/5127/northendmar240911125595797zy.jpg align=baseline>

    Pic 2 - Perennas Bridge: The Perennas Bridge holds a number of people commuting during the two main rush hours. It is helpful, although congestion can be a problem.

    Perennas Bridge Traffic Cam  align=baseline>

    View a stream of traffic on the actual Perennas Bridge on the evening commute home! Click that link below to view!

    NOTE: THE STREAMCAM HAS BEEN TAKEN OFF!

    Comments Welcomed and Appreciated!!!

    Here is a region shot of Euphora!

    Wow, I really like this CJ. Reminds me of a shrunken Manhattan so far.

    Do you use superdemand mod? I've thought about it, but I've already started my cities, and I want to be able to control what gets super demanded. (I don't want to get flooded by tenements)
