Two weeks you say... Rubik... I think that releasing this brilliant piece of work on 9/11 could even make some people emotional... It's a game, I know. But the lot is so realistic, and the symbolism is huge. Three years after 9/11 people have the chance to recreate one of the symbols of a nation. 19.gif

Hey Rubik,

I must say all this time and effort has really payed off. I mean really payed off. Now saying that I think if you wanted a smaller project you might want to try a small 20 story building that is a box. I will show you a pic of it.

I can get you all the pics you want of this building. From any angle and I can tell you almost everything you would need to know about making this building.

Rubik, from the picture you showed us, I thought that the plaza was 22 x 17. I assumed this cause it looks like the red line on the northern edge only went up to the avenue. I then assume the northern edge was 22. Am I incorrect? I just wanted to know, becauase today I started re-developing my downtown Manhattan area to recieve its new gift. It looks wonderful so far, Rubik, you are doing a lovely job!

I have to say, I never really liked the Towers... in my eye they seemed ugly.

Still, this is the most astonishing piece of work I have seen from anyone on this board.  I would suggest you go find yourself a job in 3d modeling, 'cause there's no way they'll turn you down! 2.gif

Damn, now I need to build a larger city for this (starts new region)

Sorry that was an error in my photoshop skills, the red line on the left should go all the way to the corner.  The complete lot with the southern avenue included is 20x17.

And a new gift couldn't be more fitting as this will be a regional reward lot.

I have some good and bad news about the Transit enabling, and to make it more dramatic I'll give you the bad news first 2.gif.  The bad news is that it's impossible to TE avenues at an angle.  No matter what RedLotus tried he couldn't get the avenues to travel in anything but a straight line.  But the good news is that one way roads will work for us.  So the makeshift avenue will indeed work, but you will need to connect one way roads to the lot, then transfer to an avenue if so desired.

I have a busy day today, but I'll try to post some pics of the working avenue either today or tomorrow.

Wonderful, Rubik! I hardly think its bad news, but at least we will be able to use the roads! As a regional reward, will your region have to reach a certain population or wealth to recive this awesome gift? Also Rubik, will the lot itsself be a base, meaning that will you have to place 1, 2, 3-6, and the plaza after you place the intial lot? Like if I bulldozed WTC 6 will the whole lot go down or just WTC 6? I'm quite excitied for this! Once again you are 3D Art Genius and are doing a magnificant job!! 17.gif

Well I finally got around to taking a screenshot of the new transit enabling...notice the UDI vehicle.  You can also see the one-way transtion on the sides of the lot.

As for the reward requirements, they are still up in the air.  I'm trying to make it fairly realistic as per 1970's New York.  There will definately be Comm, Res, and maybe a I-HT population requirement, as well as hopefully some regional landmark requirements.  But I am still up for some suggestions.

I think you should have to have placed the Chrysler and Empire State Buildings, in addition to having maybe 500,000 regional population and 150,000 CO$$$ jobs.

Well this is what I'm currently thinking for reward requirements, though I think the numbers might be a little high for the average user.  But they are pretty low as compared to 1970's New York numbers which are like 7.8 mil Res, 3.6 mil Jobs.

    1,000,000 Regional Res. pop
    500,000 Regional Comm. pop
    150,000 Regional I-HT pop
    CO$$$ and CO$$ demand > 3000
    Regional # of stock markets >= 3
Must have Grand Central, ESB, and Crysler Building in region.

I'm not sure if regional landmark requirements are possible though so that last line might be scraped.

And just an FYI, download size will be absolutely huge.  I'm currently trying to figure out the best way to package everything up, but it's looking like it will be over 30 megs total, most likely in 10 meg chunks.  So make sure to put your 56k modems in a nice cool place on 9.11 because they will be working overtime 2.gif

That does seem a bit high........maybe two versions, one would be unlocked at like 350,000 regional population, but lacks the transit enabling, the cool query, etc., and the full version at the stats you list. I dont know, this is just a crazy suggestion.2.gif

Please reconsider the requirements. It really wouldn't be worth the 30 megabyte download if we knew that we could never use it.

Well I am definately up for suggestions on the numbers.  I haven't really even played the game in 5 months, and when I did I built huge regions with large populations, so my numbers might be way out of whack....but it should be somewhat challenging.  You should be have to have a city that can support a structure of this size.

As I've said for a while now, there will be 2 versions.  One reward version with all of the functionality of the real WTC, then one stale landmark version with just simple transit enabling.  But my focus right now is on the reward version, and that will be the version that comes out on 9.11.  I might be able to get the landmark version done by then as well, though it's way down the to do list.

It takes a lot of time and effort to get a region to 1,000,000, especially if your trying to build up realisticlly (like I do). Maybe a population of 750,000, and 350,000 CO$$$ jobs would be better?

Well after refreshing my mind on some of the Maxis rewards I think I'll bring down the numbers lower than that.  How does this float everyone's boat....too easy?

    200,000 Regional R pop.
    75,000 Regional C jobs
    25,000 Regional I-HT jobs
    at least 2 stock markets
    CO$$ and $$$ demand > 3000

IMO, i think that the first figures you came up with were far better (that is 1000k Regional Res Pop, 500k Reg Comm Pop...)
200,000 Regional R pop is really easy too reach and doesn't involve big cities: only 4 50k inhabitants cities would grant you the WTC reward, but having such a huge lot on so small cities would be quite odd 34.gif

On the contrary, 1000k Regional R Pop means that you already have some big cities in your region (several hundred thousand R pop); and then it makes much more sense to plop the reward in a big city.

So, IMO your first figures were better than your last proposal 19.gif

But of course, if you choose the smaller figures it will be possible for those who want to wait for a higher regional pop to wait before plopping the reward, while the contrary is not possible 9.gif
So it's up to you 10.gif

Yeah, I agree the first figures were better than these. Also, I take it you can't do the landmark requirements? Too bad, that was my favorite part.8.gif

Well, I like the idea, but many people will complain about this, and I might advise that you make a CO plop aswell, to please every besides the 60 people who want the regional reward version. I don't mind, but I know MANY will.

Rubik, why not go half-way on both? Say like 600,000 res pop (etc, etc for the other numbers). I also liked the idea of having to have those other landmarks in the region, that's a clever idea.

Oh, and best BAT ever. 44.gif
