I would like to first say that your lots are great!!! I like the new ones your working on and look forward to using them in the game.
I know you plan on doing resturants soon and I thought I would throw some suggetions your way.
1) Outback Steakhouse 6) Red Robin
2) Sizzler 7) Denny's 24hr
3) Azteca Shari's 24rh
4) Great Wall Chinese 9) Chile's
5) Lubby's Buffet 10) Chuckie Cheese
These are just a few that I know.
Also there are two things that I thought would be cool to see someone working on..
one would be a new car feerry terminal,one that would be bigger,more luxurious and have shops and a cafe.
The other would be more office buildings that would house small and big name companys.The kind like you created in the past but larger and would hold more jobs.
If I was half as talented as you or any of the others,I would try.However I'm not so I can only sit on the sideleines and watch. Thank you

Maybe you could also consider a family-type restaurant such as Denny's, Perkins or Friendly's, etc. to go along with the restaurant set.  I don't recall having seen those done by anybody else?

eeekkk...  long lists of requests!  Run away! Run away!   

 

I'll play with some of those ideas.  Outback is a good one, as i eat there quite a bit myself.  As a matter of fact, there is one attached to the Courtyard Hotel i modeled, I just left it out.  I'll be back in that hotel next week..  Maybe I'll take a few pics and make it as a stand alone down the road.

SimGoober, your work is incredible. I have already downloaded most of your buildings into my game. The TOYS R US is my favorite. Its so.....BLUE.

Just remember that the Outback is purely marketing. Any similarities between the Outback and real Australia are purely coincidental. No-one here eats a bloomin onion and most other menu items are purely fanciful. They even push Fosters; no-one in Oz drinks Fosters (but the Outback in Makuhari Japan has VB!). But the Outbacks do great steaks.

Deadwoods: yeah, most theme places make it up.  I've seen places like that, that couldn't keep their doors open when they get too close to the real thing.  I thought it was funny when I found out ChiChi's Mexican Foods had to close some locations in the sw US, because that close to Mexico, people knew THAT wasn't Mexican food....  And I'm glad to find out Fosters isn't really the favorite down there, as I don't care for it myself...

 

I'm also getting a couple 'round the world requests.  Barby sent me a couple logos for French supermarkets, so I might throw one or two in.  I don't have any building pics, so I guess I'll wing it.

Here are some in game previews, just to get you thinking.

I'm working on final detailing to the lot layouts, and have some minor tweaks to make.  Then I'll need to start the modding.  Should be on schedule, unless something weird happens..... which it does on occasion.....

Those look great!

 

A couple of comments about the Tops, though -

• I only know of 1 Tops where the outside walls weren't all white.
• The name should be vertically centered on the upper front wall.
• Also, I believe (but not entirely sure) the white awnings that you have should actually be glass enclosures (glass roof and wall). 

With those changes, I think it'd be perfect!  It definitely needs to be white though.  Maybe not blinding white, but some shade of white.

 

I have to agree, however, that the Publix is the most unique looking and probably most impressive of the four.  Good job!

Those are easy fixes, and took about 5 minutes... The wall texture I didn't care for anyways, and I think I found one that looks better.  The awnings I tweaked a hair, but left alone, as they fit in better now with the new texture.  I also added a litle detail work to the arch openings, as they blurred into the background.  The sign is actually centered, but the game perspective made it look too low, so i move it up  couple notches.  I'll render it overnight, and post a new pic tomorrow.

One question, are they all stand-alones, or are the like the original Wegman's model with small Mom & Pop stores along side? They'd look great either way, i just want to know

Also, all of these are stand alone, with the exception of the Piggly Wiggly.  It is in the shopping center format, with a couple small stores attached.

Yeah, that now officially looks awesome (in my opinion at least)!

 

I would also agree with the stand-alone format.  Although I know of a few of these stores in the plaza setup, they mostly are stand-alones nowadays.  And as for Piggly Wiggly, not much experience with them, but the one I did go to was in a plaza and it was TINY!

 

I did like the look of that original Wegmans' plaza, however, even if I can't remember ever seeing one like that.

 

Can't wait to use these once I put down BAT myself!

Shoppers will be in the next set, as will a couple from Europe.  I got some pics of Champions in France (For BarbyW) and Tesco in England (Hogmeister). That will make 10 supermarkets, which I think is a nice round number.  I could keep going, but I don't think I'd ever run out of requests for new chains, so that will be the end of it.  After that, I still have a couple small requests to fill (Wilson Farms, BlockBuster, Kinkos), and then I'll start playing with Restaurant Chains.  I have the upgrades to my current ones complete, and the modding done on a couple of the others.  They should all be ready for Monday.  Hopefully, the STEX will be up and running by them...

Hey, since it seems like you like to do supermarkets and you're doing a very good job with them, maybe sometime in the future when you have a load of the previous suggestions done and off your back, you could do a stop and shop, which is the supermarket i have where i live.

 

Super job with those buildings, especially the Wegmans!

I was just thinking - would there be anybody out there willing to take a crack at modeling a shopping cart as a prop?  You could stack them up in front of the door, scatter them in the parking lot, etc.  I think it would be a really nice touch to all these stores!

Kroger, Safeway and Food Lion have been updated on the STEX.  They will now appear in a group in the landmark menu, along with these new grocery stores when they are posted.  The Kroger and Safeway also have their own truck props.

 

I have been toying with Shopping carts props myself.  Maybe it will come together.
