The A-Frame house is a very popular architectural style, peaking in popularity between the 1950s and 1970s. The inexpensiveness of this style made it ideal for the post-World War II prosperity seen in North America. The steep, sloping roof, deep set eaves and generally triangular shape are some of the defining characteristics of this style of house.
Not the most common style seen among new houses in Canada, the A-Frame is seen more among cabins and cottages lining lakes, especially so in the foothills and in the Rockies.
