Aedes Vestae and Atrivm Vesta (Temple of Vesta & House of the Vestal Virgins)

This is the Temple of the Holy Fire and the place where the Palladium was kept (an archaic statue of Minerva). The fire - so the story goes - was brought to Rome by Aeneas and was supposed to be of the fire which destroyed Troi. 

The Temple itself burned down a couple of times (not really surprising).
