I'm still having problems with the DAMN, hoping someone might know an answer.

Whenever I plop a hidden lot I get a CTD. This happens only for hidden lots, not for 'only' DAMNed ones without hiding.

Tried reinstalling, using a testbed with only a handful of stuff and always the same.

Someone's got an idea what the problem could be?

Live and learn.  What's a hidden lot?

Living, learning and waiting in the snow (well, the sun actually) for guidance from the moose.  :)

I am talking about items hidden from the default menu.

I can plop items (Lots, Bats, call'em what you like...) from the DAMN menu without problems if they haven't been hidden, but any hidden one gets me a CTD.

Somehow this defeats the purpose of the whole idea...  :???:

It's already got 6 z's  :ooh: and is loading last, so that's not the problem, but thank you for trying to help.

FYI, underscores actually load after z's, so if you really want it to load last, use z____[folder]. Just put more underscores in than is in the z___NAM folder and it will load last. Windows Explorer, however, makes this confusing, by sorting special characters before everything else, which runs contrary to how it's sorted in ASCII.

Well...looks like it wasn't that either...and whilst tinkering around to find a solution I managed to have the menu disappear too.

Guess I need a complete guided tour for this before I break something else. If someone would be so nice to tell me please where exactly each file and folder has to go...  :lost:

I've come up with a simple solution to the issues with DAMN hidden lots - I don't use them.  I was having problems as well, but if you're using DAMN you can go all-in.  Even when loaded up, the menus aren't really that bad, especially when you learn where things are.

On the Desktop I've got the .exe folder with .exe, resources folder and plugins_list.sav.

In the Plugins folder of SC4 I've got the 'DAMN' folder with subfolders 'Root' and 'Support'

In the Plugins under Documents I've got 'zzzzzz_DAMN-Hidden.

I've installed DAMN Manager into its own folder in the root Program Files.  I don't think there's any specific place it needs to be placed in.

All the DAMN files are in the Program Files plugin folder, as required.

The DAMN hidden file directory is in the MyDocs plugin folder; since I've serialized my plugins it goes in a directory 999_DAMN-Hidden.  While I don't specify any hidden lots, it still seems to like to create the folder anyway.

Granted, I'm running on Wine and it took a little bit of work to get DAMN working in the first place in terms of the SC4 executable.  But once running, I don't think I've encountered any issues specific to my setup.

Interesting.  I too run on wine.  When I first looked at DAMN, I concluded that I didn't want to fight with the executable code, and just simply didn't bother with it any further.  Since I am most thoroughly retired (more than 10 years now), I am just not feeling geekish enough to want to use something as complex as this.

As a matter of interest did you have to add much to the wine prefix to get it to run?  I just created a new 64-bit prefix for SC4 and Banished and both run with no additional work.

Thanks to all of you for trying to help solve the problem. So far I didn't manage to make it work, but never mind. I just scaled back what I wanted to do, revised my Plugins and am back on track.  :)

Well, it is a game.  Some people can get wound up in it, but remember it is a leisure time activity and it is supposed to be fun not a struggle.

Are you using Yild's DAMN Manager?  There is a bug in the latest version, which causes a crash on plop with hidden lots.  He is aware of the issue, but I don't know if there will be a fix released.

If you want to hide lots, I would suggest using Stefan79's SSP Tool instead.

Thanks for the answer! I was having the exact same issue. I guess this is the reason I saw someone say it was broken on the download page. Back to SSPTool it is. Now, any easy way to unistall the CTD menues?

@matias93 ping...as above, it seems to be related to a specific version of DAMN Manager. Try the one I mentioned and see if it stops.
