hkabat-forum-threads A Guide to Japanese BAT Hunting
Moshi replied to pnorrell's topic in SC4 - Custom Content
A tutorial/strategy guide to APTX 8590’s website Website is accessible here APTX’s site is easy to navigate as well. Translation as follows: § About the usage of data Data available here were all made using ilive’s Reader program. We will not be held responsible for any troubles the data may cause. We currently do not accept BAT-ing requests. A request posted on the forum will be considered for a millisecond or two, and then immediately ignored. However, constructive criticisms on lots that are done are always welcome. § To those who cannot see the upper portion of this page correctly You need flash. The newest version is Flash Player 9, which has been confirmed to work with this website. To the left hand of the page, you will see the following menu: Most likely you are looking for something in either “BAT” or “Transport”. The link labeled BAT takes you to a screen with (BAT’ted) lots. The link labeled Transport takes you to a screen with automata downloads. Click on the link labeled BAT. This is what you should see. Click on each thumbnail to open a new window that gives larger picture(s) and a description of the lot, a concept similar to the STEX. For example: Clicking on the blue button that says Download (and the size of the file) will start the download. If you are patient, you might also be able to figure out that its capacity is 6000 and that it takes up 4 by 4 tiles. It also says that you need a prop from Shibuya station. The lopsided lowercase e means “~’s” in this case. If you were planning on downloading this lot (or any other lot with ‘prop’ in the description, for that matter) without missing props, you would need to go find that prop (or the lot with that prop). For this particular station, click on that (main BAT screen). This is it. Shortened description: This is the west side of Shibuya station. In order to complete the station, please download and place the east side as well. NOTE: please make sure the land is absolutely flat before placing, or the elevated rail connections may not connect properly. Since the original station we looked at did not say whether the prop was included on the east or west side of the Shibuya station, I would recommend downloading both. By the way, the thumbnail of the east side of Shibuya station is next to the one of the west side. Main menu. This time, click on “Transport”. Click on a thumbnail, download as you would a regular automata. This means that you will need the light fixture mod for the buses. Click on those bluish words for the mod. One more thing… click this Short description as follows: This is the Shinkansen (bullet train) mod. It converts monorail into a high-speed rail system with a custom skin. What the rest of it says is that there are stations for this mod available in various places. Click on either of these to go to a place with a shinkansen station available. Also, to get the pantograph car, it says to click on this.Uploaded with permission from pnorrell. Edit: some fine-tuning -

Hello to all! It has been a while since I have last posted on this site and almost a year since my discovery of this community. I am a Japansese student who has recently moved back to japan from the states, and my Japanese vocabulary is as good as my English one. I would like to help out by manually translating japanese sites and forwarding recommendations that anyone might have, since this is about the only thing I can really contribute. Except for posting regularly, which I'm not that fond of. Well, if anyone has a meaningful enough request, please let me know. Thanks EDIT: Maybe I can contribute to the idiot's guide? -
Did you try separating ill and tonkso? I will be online in about a month

Japan, as many know, is a mountanious, volcanic archipelago where three techtonic plates meet together. Therefore shinkansen (bullet trains) are designed to handle many curves and have many long tunnels within their large infastructure. They are designed to handle earthquakes, and therefore, use wider rail than normal trains. I belive there were a few grade road crossings in the northern rural areas. [thinks, and snaps fingers] I will be going on a two-day trip to Kure and Hiroshima. Hiroshima station is a major stop in the sanyo (shinkansen) route, so expect many photos bye

I'm back (temporarily) Let me get everything straight... This project is called the HSRP, an anagram for High Speed Rail Project. The HSR will replace the monorail, meaning it is fully draggable (not using puzzle pieces). The latest BETA release is the double-dipped goodness one, in which curves do not work. The next BETA release will come shortly, in which the first HSR station will be included, curves will work, and a better skin for the train. In the future official release, every curve and turn will work, there will be a selection of bridges, an european (german) ICE skin will be included, and at least two stations will be included. The Japanese shinkansen skin and the American acela skin will be made afterwards (by the hsrp team or by independent developers). whew!

Thanks Zilfondel for clearing that up Coincidentally (and unfortunately), I will be away from the internet for a month starting today. Good luck with the project everyone!

Here in Japan, some long-distance trains (shinkansen included) attach together until they split up later. For the rural puzzle pieces: should there be semi-elevated, ground, or semi-sunken puzzle pieces?
-
I don't think cameras are used to moniter rail, but the idea of placing blue lights sparingly is good
-
WOW I've been gone for a few days and a station is already in its final stages!! Here is a pic of a Japanese station: Many stations have partially open roofs: Some are different:

Thanks winonanick, I can insert breaks now! I can't belive this project has come so far alreay by the way, the pantographs need to be moved to either ends of the car, and a slipstream cover needs to be placed... just look at any ICE or (newer) shinkansen photo and you'll see what I mean. About the ground puzzle pieces: have they been forgotton, or are they just delayed?
-
Nice Bridge!! Ewww iBooks indeed... I can't even get internet explorer to show up! And my deldf... delett...delete button isn't working right! Can somebody tell me how to insert a line break? About the european ICE- no offense, but I think it looks like the default monorail train. Then again a lot of real-world trains do

What happened to my post? (looks around) (shrugs, begins typing) Oh well... anyway, I found a good site with pictures of bridges, elevated supports, bullet train names, stations, rail, etc., etc. here. I then thought that the current HSR supports and bridge are too futuristic for realistic HSR use in a region. (although some CJ's will benefit...) I agree that the second bridge should be based on the highway/avenue suspension bridge design. Also, we could make HSR and highway bridges in the future, with the help of those working on double-decker bridges. The tunnel looks good in urban areas, but the default one will probably be better suited in rural and suburban areas. Large stations should be made to accomondate the commuters, maybe 12 by 6 with a road running through the middle. If I could help, I would, but I can't... I'm on an iBook with nothing but a fast internet connection, while my XP is collecting dust 2,000 miles away

I agree with hamsterTK for the bridges. I found this site while searching on google. It has everything, just click on each picture for an enlargement.

Just a thought... Does anyone know what the speed for monorail is in the game?
-
And they would look much better than Monorail for Inter-regional travel I like your textures, 3ddz, but I prefer something cleaner- like a mix between elevated and regular rail.
-
I've been thinking about the 2-track version and... Unfortunately, editing any of the mass transit networks to make a 2-tile wide HSR network would probably be quite difficult, as... the default tracks are (gasp) only one tile wide! So I think a one-tiled version should be made first. Another problem... obviously, the ground and elevated HSR are going to have to be two different networks, like GLR (Ground light rail, found in the NAM) and Elevated Rail. So here's a poll: 1:Make the ground HSR a mod of a default transit network, so that I can make bridges, tunnels, etc with the ground version. 2:Make the elevated HSR a mod of a default transit network, so that I can make blah, blah, blah with the elevated version. 3:Make both ground and elevated HSR like the GLR, with puzzle pieces. 4:I have my own idea!(state specifically)
-
ST has been down for several days and so has the ability to post Anyway, I personally think there should not be a transition to subway and there should be a transition to regular rail. Since the HSR will be used in dense urban areas as well as suburban and rural, I am thinking about elevated and ground shinkansen rail. Here's a link: http://tec.supertrain.net/index-e.html and some pics: Hope this helps P.S. My avatar will be updated soon
-
Nice Idea! I think it should replace monorail as well, and a two-tracked version of the elevated high-speed rail should be added. A Shinkansen (bullet train) version could look better in dense urban areas. [Edit:] Sorry I didn't see the above post. It should be a modded monorail network because it could be draggable. Puzzle pieces could be used for a ground version in rural areas.

Real Highway (RHW) - Development and Support
Moshi replied to qurlix's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
I know that this is not the best place to post these questions, but here goes: What is the ANT? Are there any mods/lots that use the dirt street to make an additional transportation system and/or conflict with the ANT and/or the RHW? Also, what does $%&^! mean?
