It -can- be... The problem is, it's far more difficult to profit in game than you could expect, especially if you know games like Locomotion or Transport Tycoon. However, that being said, Simutrans is really easy to modd, and the realism is fun, even if the graphics are quite old school. Really, just give it a try and see if you like it. The only reccomendation I have is to use an older version called pak128; then the graphics are bigger and more lush.

I'd say considering the position of the Chicago skyline and the Gary mills district, I'd guess this was somewhere between the Indiana Dunes and Michigan City, Ind. areas.

Wow, I love that trumpet.... I just hope it comes to fruition!

I would love this piece as is, and the only thing I could suggest might be to move the inner wall further, so it lines up with the highway edge, and looks like one piece. Absolutely great job here!

As for Akashi, it works usually, it just requires a long span-- For it to look nice, most of a large tile.. I've had trouble with Millau but I'm trying to work it out...

Real Highway (RHW) - Development and Support
zakuten replied to qurlix's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
I would only like to say that in the case of azn, it might be a step in the right direction to try to encourage him to do better rather than such comments as that he should lock his lots and not make new ones. After all, if you expect him to move on and improve, it's in everyone's best interest to guide and help rather than showing him anger and disdain.- 3,919 Replies

Well, it's not spam, but something's definitely screwed up with the displaying of the pictures. Not sure why or what.

This is a region I've made, Karai Shores. It's based from a world me and my friends made for the use of D&D roleplay, so I decided to make it in SimCity 4. The "original" cities, by the way, are on the peninsulas and spread out along the coast, with inland farm areas. It's a large region, 42x16(small tiles), and should pose a challenge for anyone who likes to build on hills. It contains a SC4M, a config.bmp, and the overview picture within the zip as well. Feel free to leave detailed feedback in comments or PM, but realize this is my first map and so obviously it may be a bit rough. Thanks! Edit: Also of note: The central plateau region is very high, so low snowlines may become problematic if you have such mods installed. Edit: Pictures updated, sorry for the patchy look in the secondary shot. -
In my game, I've made a city of Chicago mockup, and I decided to give this ending as you see below to one of the diagonal avenues: ( http://www.iwu.edu/~tcousins/Chicago-ave-split.png if you can't see it.) But, here's the problem. I want to try to duplicate this split in a different town/place, and it just won't happen. I get the one-ways seemingly trying to connect with the other sides of the avenue and just in general making a strange messy intersection. Can anyone who understands the workings of the NAM better than me possibly help me figure out how to build this again, or what might be preventing me, or even who to go to for help with this?
-
Actually, before the NAM it couldn't happen at all, as I remember...
-
Ah, so that's it! I thought it was maybe the roundabouts what caused it- Thanks a lot, I'll do that ASAP.
-
No, it seems to simply be a problem with how it handles the one-ways nowadays, I guess.
-
Unfortunately, Liberty, I just tried that now and it still wants to make that strange crossing of the one ways. But thanks for the help.
-
It seems like a pretty good example of a badly planned industrial city.. I actually kinda like the gritty, blocky look, eh heh.

I noticed a bug with phantom movement in my menu, where it'd not sync up to the items I was highlighting, though it might be a separate problem(Several new things at once..).

Do plopped RCI buildings create traffic?
zakuten replied to Metropolis's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I thought commercial still generated return traffic in the evenings? -

Hello, and thanks for reading this. I'm sure that almost none of you have heard of me, as I haven't produced anything of note except a CJ. I'm of that somewhat reviled class of member, the lurker. However, I have been a member of Simtropolis for near on two years now. I've seen inklings of the drama going on, and due to my personal aversion to such things. This morning, however, I saw GoaSkin's note. I know it sounds clichéd, but that was the proverbial camel's straw for me. Now, even without any standing, if I may be so bold as to give my opinions on the state of affairs: That note-- Well, it made me angry for two reasons. Have we as a community really gotten so inconsiderate that we can't make the effort to be civil? I remember when I joined, I thought everyone here was so nice. I believe for sure that we can do that again if we get everyone to wipe the slate and be civil. Sure, flamers are unnacceptable, and maybe disagreements and falling outs are just a typical matter in the course of affairs. I can accept that. The second reason, however, is what really causes me the most trouble. If the reason you release your bats, lots, mods, etc. is to help the community, why would you be punitive by removing them as you leave? That seems to defeat the purpose. Also, if you ARE leaving, please, at least tell us where to. Otherwise, whatever meaning you tried to gain by leaving is lost by just turning it into a simple abandonment. My next issue somewhat relates to that. The cause, I believe, of what everyone has compared to a civil war is simple cliquism. Just like in high school, people form cliques here, which are almost impossible to break into. With all the new sites formed for disgruntled groups leaving Simtropolis for their various reasons, it's truly becoming impossible to keep up with things for the average member, I believe. Many people have commented on how there have been no new stunning batters recently. Partially, yes, I do believe it's because Sim City 4 is old. There's no way around that. But I think that the fact is, the BAT community is no longer so. It's fragmented into these cliques to the extent that it seems to me like new batters who have as-yet-unrefined potential simply have to grind through it alone instead of finding support from others to help them along. For those who complain about flamers and staff--... Well, I have extensive experience with flamers and griefers. It pains me to reveal this, but I'm a furry. The most reviled group on the internet, and it shows, from the sheer numbers of people who devote themselves to simply making fun of us. Flamers are an unavoidable part of the internet experience, and how you put up with them shows your character. Please, just send it through the correct enforcement channels rather than getting all angry. As for the staff issue, for them this must be stressful, to have to balance all the responsibilities of a site so big as this plus hold a normal life. To that end, at least give them the respect due for them giving their time as volunteers. My only other advice for conduct is -- this forum and site really belongs to everyone here, in a way, and so please, remember that we're all real people, not just faceless text(against appearances.) I had a few more points, but they've slipped my mind. As for if I've offended anybody, I apologize profusely. I'm just trying to speak my mind to the community I love and the people here that I admire for their amazing work. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading all this. With my very best regards, Tim Cousins

I've used 2 route systems, one like this: By the way, X is where the spur/etc. number addon goes, and 000 the possible route numbers. It's made on a global scale, explaining the high number range. National Express Highways, roughly equivalent to Interstates. (Hexagonal sign) For example, first spur of <1> =<1001> |X0000| National Highways, like US routes. (000) District(equiv. to state/province/etc.) routes, varies, can have several formats. This system assigned numbers in a E-W being even, N-S odd system. New Style: J-X000 National Express Highways (Native name: motorii jyekaal natsional) X000 National Highways (motorii natsional) (Note, no prefix is used.) Y-X00(letter possible) District Highway (Tangentii yukatir) This one assigned the lowest numbers, 1~9, to the most important routes, mainly transcontinental. (For example, I-95 or I-80 would recieve a 1-digit in this system.) 2-digits are minor transcontinental, and 3-digits would be the less important routes. 2 and 3 digits still used the EW-even/NS-odd numbering, though the single digits were simply arbitrarily assigned.

Love that picture... Man, I hope it pans out. Even if neither game is a Sim City like we know; this is DEFINITELY holding more promise. As far as relating to Tonkso's comment last page, I think the rolling stock may be similar, but I think it's definitely meant to mimic the Chicago El. That color and shape of trestle is common to Chicago's elevated lines, except for the newer ones. I bet it's just trying to look eclectic and urban rather than specifically British

I love the new NAM, however, there's one flaw that is causing me problems a bit. For the transition piece on GLR-in-avenue, where the track exits at an angle(to the right), is it possible to get a mirror piece so that the track can exit on either side? I'm sorry to bother you for more work when you've already done so much.
