I am sorry to hear that. It was a fairly unique and inventive idea. I'm sad to see it die.

I also want to say that your buildings rule! On another note: How's your heliport comming along?

Your thoughts: Tallest Building
the_SIMtastik_One replied to jmjselect's topic in Architecture & Urban Planning
The categories don't phase me one way or the other, but I have the most respect for the tallest overall building without counting the spire. By the way, have you ever heard of the burj dubai? Google it if you've never heard of it. -
I don't think it is possible to create a greyscale map that will render prefectly square canals. The game seems to erode the terrain of each city as it renders. However, you can create a greyscale map with canals in it and then go in and touch up the surfaces after the render. I have found that .bmp greyscales don't erode as much as .jpg maps. I have never tried the other file types.

Hello, First of all, your problem might be that you have the standard SC4. I beleive that most (if not all) of the BATs require that you have the Rush Hour expansion pack or SC4 Deluxe. If that isn't the problem then I'm pretty sure you're missing prop files. The first step in solving this problem is to go to the SC4 official site and download the buildings as props files. Then, download all of the Maxis landmarks (or at least the one's that you need for your specific BATs). Finally, especially if you've downloaded BSC BATs, you need to get any prop files that are required by the lots that you have. Check the readmes for the BATs that you've downloaded. I'm pretty sure that this will solve your problem.

Mixed Use Developments! Might be possible!!!
the_SIMtastik_One replied to matthewcherry83's topic in SC4 - Custom Content
I don't know if this will help or not since I have never been to successful with the BAT and know zilch about modding, but I think I have a work around for you. Rather than make a residential plopable, you could make a residential growable on an odd shaped lot. For example, I am aware of no growable that grows on a 1x5 lot size. You could (as far as I know) make any kind of building you want as an overhanging prop on that lot. Then just have a plopable commercial, industrial, civic, or whatever lot you want to look conjoined. I think this would allow you to get past the res plopable delapadation bug. Hope this helps. -
Hello -Dirk- Yes, as jarnomiedema said, the problem you have is a dependancy problem. When I installed the RTMTV3 I had this problem at first as well. It was because I installed the files incorrectly. I installed the version of the RTMTV3 that used single props, and accidentally installed all the incuded dependancy files for the prop family configuration. Make sure you haven't done the same. You'll just have to reintall it. Also, certain of the bus stop files require that you download other dependancy files off of the STEX. Read the readme carefully and follow the instructions to the T. Its a pretty technical installation.

Interesting and useless facts
the_SIMtastik_One replied to TheCrybKeeper's topic in General Off-Topic
I can't tel you what a fluelbinder is, but I can tell you it is not the thing on the end of your shoe lace, that's an agglet. Here is a uselsess fact for you: A foam is a gas injected into a liquid supported by a protien matrix. Well maybe its more of a definition than a fact, but still pretty useless. -
Congrats on your ACT!!!

I want to start off by saying that I really love your BATs Sim Goober. You have real tallent. That being said, I'm hanving some trouble with the new water towers. I have all of them. Unfortunately, they are not entirely functional. Each one does produce water, but the water will not travel through pipes. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

CPT Terrain Mod - Trees
the_SIMtastik_One replied to CycleDogg's topic in SC4 Modding - Open Discussion
Just to update everyone... It seems that my McAfee software was misidentifying a harmless file as a trojan. My antivirus software is updated daily. After receiving today's update I removed all instances of Prockill-DF from the quarentine list. I then scanned my computer and there were zero harmful files detected. As I said before, I don't want to alarm anyone. I just wanted to bring this to everyone's attention in case it turned out to be an actual problem. There has been no word from Cycledogg. Site staff said they are loking into this. I have PMed this new info to both Cycledogg and site staff. Andreas Roth: It is true that the .dat files are not a likely place for a trojan to hide. However, the CPT Trees mod comes with an .exe installer program. As I understand it, this is how trojans get around. -
CPT Terrain Mod - Trees
the_SIMtastik_One replied to CycleDogg's topic in SC4 Modding - Open Discussion
Something you may want to check out. Earlier today, my McAfee antivirust software detected a trojan called Prockill-DF in the cycledogg columbus terrain mod. Now, before anyone gets alarmed, I checked with McAfee (online) and this is what they have to say about this threat: Virus Characteristics There have been reports of an incorrect identification in the 4629 DAT files of certain installer packages. This will be corrected in the 4630 DATs. I'm wondering if anyone else has come across this. Also, do you think its an error on the part of McAfee, or is there really a trojan in the file? I'm not trying to alarm anyone, but obviously this is something you may need to be aware of. I have PMed Cycledogg and site staff about the issue. I'll post here again when I receive more info. EDIT: DON'T PANIC. SEE MY POST ON THE NEXT PAGE. -
There are some really nice pics of some awsome cars in here. I like 'em all... But this is my all time favorite, a 1967 Corvette. http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/1994/1967chevroletcorvetteblackspbb1.jpg align=baseline>

The pyramid looks good, but I'd loose the tower if I were you. It just looks weird to me. Maybe shorten it, two or three levels at the most. EDIT: When I say that the tower looks weird I mean that it looks weird on top of the pyramid. It looks okay by itself.

Could I get a opinion on my project,
the_SIMtastik_One replied to Former User 225's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
I think you have a good shape oging there. I would suggest concentrating on two things: 1) the roof, 2) the bottom floor. Sweat the details. Take a look at other BATs and real photos of buildings to get an idea of how the base and the roof look. Check out Philipobo's essential BAT tutorial. Good luck with BATing.
