  1. Ground pollution and sewage

Thanks for the tips everyone. Will try some of these when I get home later. I've tried planting trees but it is indeed a part time job trying to keep up with it because they always disappear.
  2. Ground pollution and sewage

I have plenty of room on my meter though, I'm well into the green area and they're still complaining that pipes are backed up and I need more treatment plants. And I can't seem to clean up any of the ground pollution that already exists.
  3. I plopped one of these in one of my cities last night and the "happiness" increase spread about 1/3 of the way across my city. Much more than I was lead to believe in the description. I was pretty pleased with the effect. I know some people will be upset about the "commercial" factor of it but I personally like it and hope they give us much more stuff like this. As long as it's free I'll keep downloading them.
  4. DLC...What is worth it?

I bought the French pack just out of curiosity and it doesn't do much. You can add a French police station which is basically the same as the regular police station except it looks a little differently. You cannot get French architecture throughout your city unless you plop the Eiffel Tower. And with the small size of maps I'm not willing to plop anything that large that doesn't have a huge impact on my city. I'd say NO, don't get them. Like CaribbeanSail said, the price will probably come down on them soon.
  5. I feel like I've seen this discussed in other threads but no actual topic dedicated to discussing. I have a fairly successful casino city with around 130,000 sims. Throughout the course of a day in the game I go from making $6k-$7k an hour to losing $3k-4k an hour. It's extremely frustrating because despite the fact that I'm bringing in tons of money from casinos and my exporting plastics/alloy from my recycling center, I like to keep my budget balanced with steady money coming in. Any tips?
  6. Why is my money fluctuating wildly

Thanks. Makes sense I guess. Worth noting that I've noticed this in other cities too. Not just ones specializing in gambling. Kind of frustrating but I'll make do!
  7. Why is my money fluctuating wildly

I have hotels in all of my casinos right on top of them. I was just losing $7,000 an hour a few minutes ago, now all of a sudden I'm up to GAINING $4,000 an hour again......
  8. Big Tourism Frustration

I agree with all the tips that have been given but again it would be nice if the advisors would actually give you helpful information when you press "guide me."
  9. I don't mind the natural disasters (tornado, earthquake, even fires) being on. But having zombies, a dinosaur or asteroids destroy my city is really annoying. I miss the hurricanes from SC 2000....
  10. Same here. I can get up to around $33,000 profit from the basic casino but you need around $52,000 to unlock the gambling HQ and more casinos. I don't know if it's just because I haven't built out the rest of my region or what. And the "gambling advisor" is USELESS. Doesn't tell me anything or guide me at all. Remember when advisors used to actually help.... ugh. just plop down another gambling house or 2 to make up the amount you need Didn't realize you could place more than one. HA! Thanks!!

  12. Streets around Events Center and Pro Stadium

It is extremely annoying. I like to have my streets evenly lining up. Not only that but because of the small city sizes in SC2013 it's critical that you utilize every last bit of space. I have not put a pro-stadium in any of my cities just because of the size of it.
  13. Agents & traffic - hopeless system

I've been paying attention to cars in the city and how they navigate. I'm noticing a whole lot of driving in circles. Doesn't seem like the problem has been fixed even though Maxis claimed update 1.7 (I believe) fixed a lot of the problems.....
  14. https://help.ea.com/article/simcity-updates General Police station can no longer hold more prisoners than the capacity. Added missing roof texture for certain commercial building. Added completion moment cinematic for Great Works. Visiting police cars have avatar of neighbor above them. Arcology Population reflects the population of the Arcology, not the city. Fixed a clog in the pipes where sewage would sometimes get backed up and act jittery. Region Wall will pop up when a new chat message has been received. Road Improvements Improvements to cases when connecting a new road to an existing road that goes over uneven terrain. Tuned some of the road snapping priorities to address some edge cases where it wasn’t behaving as desired Fixed a case where a new road would sometimes cause an existing road to change its shape drastically. Made Upgrade Roads mini-tutorial appear at appropriate time. Fix to four lane bridge to improve divider line placement. Text Improvements Clarified alerts about residents not moving in because of high taxes to state if it is residents, commercial businesses, or Industry that won't move in because of high taxes. Improved text and icons on cities in region view. Updated text for "Become a Suburban City" mission to improve clarity. Updated requirements text for HazMat garage for clarity.
  15. How is everyone spacing their roads to maximize space? In SC4 I did 6x11 or 6x12 grid system in most of my cities with some diagonal avenues mixed in to increase traffic flow across the city. In SC 2013 I am struggling to figure out the best way to do it to maximize space because of the lack of grids in the game. I can't stand how the road guides change depending on what type (low/med/high density street or med/high density avenue) you are laying down. I always start with low density streets, for obvious reasons, but this doesn't lend itself well to maximizing space for future development of highrises. If you go by the road guide you get roughly a 5 tile wide square which is big enough to fit one skyscraper but leaves you with about 2.5 blocks left. This lends itself to having a city of skyscrapers stacked up against a bunch of small buildings later in the game. I could roughly guess how big my grids need to be and ignore the road guide but, again, I'm really trying to maximize space given the small size of city tiles. Tips, pictures, suggestions? Discuss........
  16. Simcity update 1.8

 LOL having the same issue. "You made $500,000 from selling aloy" yet I'm broke...
  17. I'm still trucking along but feel like I'm losing interest. There just isn't enough to do. I played for an hour last night and maxed out my space. I will keep trying and experimenting in hopes of new updates that make it more playable but the game feels incredibly unfinished. Trying to keep the faith but I'm struggling...
  18. Best Tax Rates

I have kept mine at 9 percent in all of my cities. Tried lowering to 8 and it didn't have enough of an impact on demand to justify the lost income...
  19. From my experience no. I tried building a casino city in a region all by itself and I had tourist coming in on my trains and going to the casino....
  20. I'm having this problem too. Also noticing that my revenue from casinos and what is showing when I click the casino don't actually match up....
  21. Rail Connection

Also, make sure your cities have a decent-sized population and there's a reason for passengers to commute in the first place (ie. a surplus of jobs in one city and a surplus of workers in another). You'll not get many passengers commuting from a small town or from a place which already has a shortage of workers. I'm not entirely sure having other cities in the region even matters. I had a single city in a region that had casinos in it and I still had tourist coming in even though there were no other cities in my region yet......
  22. Hope this isn't a duplicate thread. Simtropolis is running extremely slowly for me right now.... http://www.ea.com/news/simcity-update-straight-answers-from-lucy?sourceid=Origin_AFF_LS315&c=TnL5HPStwNw&LSsiteID=TnL5HPStwNw-HoApnB_TQ2vpPl_Xvy2R4w
  23. Show Us Your Skylines

Here is another of the same city I posted above. Fire in the distance is from a damn meteor strike. >.<
  24. Show Us Your Skylines

Here is a shot of my city that specializes in gambling and tourism. Took this shot from an angle as if I was on the roof of city hall....... Edit: sorry, I can't figure out how to make it a full sized image in my post....
