Baton Rouge, Louisiana, a cajun taste!
GreatPancake replied to Mr. Beer's topic in SC4 City Journals
Scotlandville occasionally had some pollution issues, but I don't ever remember it being that bad...but that was also 10+ years ago now! Good grief I'm getting old! The main thing we had was noise from airplanes because the airport was just southeast of Scotlandville (Lat 30 31 55, Lon W91 09 09). The college near Scotlandville is actually Southern University. Cortana Mall is a major mall near the intersection of Airline Highway and Florida Boulevard. (Lat N30 27 30, Lon W91 05 35) Woman's Hospital at the intersection of Goodwood and Airline is was where I was born (Lat N30 26 37, Lon W91 05 26) The Mall of Louisiana is a major mall at the intersection of I-10 and Bluebonnet (Lat N30 23 21, Lon W91 05 15) There's a nice levee-top park area in Port Allen at Court Street and the river...that I have a personal affection for (I actually designed most of it...I'm a civil engineer by trade). Baton Rouge also has a nice levee-top area with benches and lights and fountains that it was sort of based on (as well as an abandoned train depot in downtown Port Allen). If someone who is gifted with time and ability can make a Simcity model of the capitol building in Baton Rouge...they would be the ultimate cool person in my book. And when you get to the neighborhood at I-12 and Millerville...on your way to Denham Springs (I don't think you've gotten there yet). Please make it nice! That's where I live! If you have any questions about where anything actually is...I'll be glad to do my best to answer! I included some lats and longs in the buildings I listed in case you wanted to look at aerial photos (Google Earth or something) and see these buildings. But that's just for information...I don't actually expect to see them or anything. I could sit here all day listing things I'd like to see, but I realize that this is YOUR fantasy version, and YOU are the artist...so I certainly don't want to intrude on your creation! It looks so great so far and I'm looking forward to seeing how it unfolds as you design it! -

Great CJ. I'm from Baton Rouge and am currently working in Baton Rouge. I found this CJ today. I went to Scotlandville High school back in the day when it was an engineering magnet high school. And for the above post, Baton Rouge has not been destroyed. We lost most of our power, and there was some wind damage here and there--downed trees, etc., but we came out pretty well relatively speaking. Much of New Orleans and the surrounding cities and the rest of Parishes all around Lake Ponchartrain have areas and entire towns that were destroyed, or are still under some very polluted water, and there are still people fighting for survival down there...but things ARE getting better. I have family from there living with me right now. And Mississippi and Alabama have their share of destruction as well. So please donate to the Red Cross or whoever you can if you have the means. Thanks to the entire country and the world for their support so far! Anyway, great job on the CJ! I hope you keep the updates coming. -
Beautiful city, beautiful journal! I really enjoy seeing grids and organization...that probably puts me in the minority, but I'm an engineer! Lots of organization...yet still enough variety to make it interesting. And I like all the tunnels a lot too.

I love this journal! It looks so creepy though...like a Twilight Zone episode where everything is perfect and beautiful and orderly...with an ominous look in the landscape...as if there's some sort of great evil hiding behind the perfect facade. And like everyone else, I love the landscape, it just adds to the whole mood. I also love how you show what you're planning and how you do great photoshop work. It always makes for a fun journal to read when people can do that well. The naming convention is something else I really enjoy too...simple, but fun. Great great job...this is a cj I look at a whole lot.

Just want to say thanks for the great journal. I get a lot of ideas for my own cities based on your creativity and the creativity of others who record their efforts like this. I really like the postings where you show how you construct some of the things you do, it's helpful to people like me who are new to some of these ideas.

ITS IN YOUR HANDS! The real interactive CJ

1) A residential area, for sure. 2) For the CBD, I suggest... Ambrosia Democrocia Those are my best offerings right now...my names for my own cities are usually boringly utilitarian or a silly inside joke among my friends! -
Hi, my name is Robert. I'm a civil engineer (people usually ask what does a civil engineer do? And if you don't know, that means I design stuff--mainly transportation and utilities--for real cities). I live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and I'm 32. I've been a Simcity fan since the first version, but never really played a whole lot. I've had Simcity 4 for a while, but have just rediscovered it and have just discovered Simtropolis and it's opened up a whole new world of computer gaming. And to whom it may concern, this is a great site. I love how the mods really make sure everyone is decent to each other, and I get a real charge out of seeing all of the creativity in the cj's and in the BAT creations. Great job mods, and let me say, great job to everyone else who participates in positive ways! Hopefully I'll get involved in some of that if I find the time.

INFO: Map Installation Instructions
GreatPancake replied to bigstunna06's topic in Mapping Community Room
I follow the instructions properly, but get an error stating, Region Bitmap size is incorrect. 1537 x 1793, should be 1025 x 1025 And it won't create the region. What am I doing wrong, or what do I need to do? Thanks.
