  1. Whats the point of streetcar?

If a route takes more than 30 000 passangers per day, a tramway line may be more economical than a bus service. The investment cost for sthe rail is of course a burden, but in the long run lower costs for personnel (long trains still only have one driver), vehicles (a bus do not last very many years), energy (rail consumes a fraction of the power) pays off. At least this is what has been discussed here in Stockholm where bus line 4 carries about 45 000 passangers a day and would serve better if converted to a tramway line.
  2. Plagiarism

As a bater, I would like to add my point here. I have had great help from Simtropolis, without the Simtropolis tutorials, the downloads and the great help from all friendly forumers, my bats had never existed. Further, without Simtropolis I would not have even been a very devoted SC4 player at all. Furthermore, it would be unpractical to have the bats for download in many places. Making screenshots that fit the site's format, uploading and checking/ responding to comments and moderating occational flaming comments is enough to do in one site. Sometimes more experimental advanced bats are reported to have bugs that need to be announced, fixed and updated and that process would be a hell to do in say five different sites. Therefore, I upload my bats only here, to contribute back to all the devoted Simtropolis moderators and users and keep it all going. Creating a decent and decently sized bat takes at least 20 hours. If anyone do not think that it is worth to spend a few minutes to check a couple of different DL sites to get the new bats that come out, then I do not think that this person appericates the bat work enough to download the buildings.
  3. STEX Clean-up Crew

I also think that the STEX needs to be cleaner. Even if all posts are not as good looking as Marilyn Monroe or as smooth performing as a Siemens fuel pump, 96% of the posted contents are the outcome of the hard and devoted work of Simtropolis members. But then the last 4% are abusive, "test" or "joke" uploads we could well do without. I would suggest that there would be a "report this file to an admin" button, and once a file was reported by several users, the admins would be notifyed and also been taken action.
  4. ferox Zelazna 43, Warsaw

Superb! It will look terrific next to the coal power plant!
  5. This CJ looks very relistic, great use of bats!
  6. Seriously... If a 2003 Toyota would be more popular on the market than a 2007 Toyota, then A LOT of Toyota employees would be fired. I seriously hope that the computer game industry has the same logic.
  7. Building Variation

Some BATs may be very bad configured, they can have too many sims working/living in a small building for example. This makes this bat "override" all other buildings and "cancer-grow". This may be the fault in Your city. You may need to remove or modd those buildings. Please post a screenshot of an area that is not developing good and I am sure that You can have more specific answers of getting a nice-growing city.
  8. Snack Bar

Thanks for the comments everyone... Well the lot can not be better IMHO. The original has one dude, one sign and one pine. I just stayed as close to the original as possible!
  9. Snack Bar

This is the building in my avatar! When I was a kid I always wanted this Lego set, the Snack Bar that was released in 1979. But I never got it! Anyways, now I can have as many as I want in my cities… This building comes as a stage 1 CS$ building, providing jobs for 5 sims on a 1 x 1 lot. You will also find a ploppable version in the landmarks menu. It is free to plop but brings no revenue, pure eyecandy that is. There are no dependencies, enjoy!

  11. NDEX Glenni Knudsen Sko Fabrikk

    One of Your best!!
  12. Goths to be banned from UK shopping Mall

Funny thing... I do not think that hanging around this downtown spot is antisocial behaviour. Really, hanging out with Your friends IS social behaviour! I think that the authorities think that those youngsters buy too little in the shops and that it is the anti-consumerish behaviour that is the problem here...
  13. fun screen shots

I would not volunteer to clean up the street after the crash that will happen in about 0,8 seconds...
  14. mrqs MRQS - Bydgoska Tenement House (Kamienica)

Great start for a bat carreer! Nice building and good detailing. Hope to see more buildings from You!
  15. Christmas Tree Park

I agree with mrbisonm, good idea, nice tree, but base needs more work!
  16. Clock symbol monument

Congratulations for making into the front page of Simtropolis. But I honestly think that a structure big as a 4 story house should have more detail. What we see here can be made with seven boxes and one tube.
  17. Hello fellows! It was quite some time since I made a BAT, it has been scool, work, traveling, renovating my new home, work again and other IRL stuff. But now I think it is time for a new BAT and I need Your help to decide what building to make. So I want You to request what building You would like to see. Of course, there are some limitations as follows: I only accept real-world buildings. Could be existing ones, or demolished/destroyed - as far as anyone remembers what they looked like of course. I also only accept W2W-buildings - per definiton a building with firewalls to its next neighbours, and with moderate height (20-25 meters tall to the eave at max). NOTE: It does not to be an European building though! And not to be sitting here forever, and also due to my computer specs, the BAT may not be larger than 9 game tiles (could be a 3x3, 2x4/4x2 or anything smaller). You need to provide a photo or a photo link. Of course, more photos, satellite pics, drawings and everything else that could be useful would be good to have, but that is not the main point. The main point is that I need a very interesting building to BAT!! So how to do? Well just reply to this message with a post including one picture of the building or a picture link. Yes ONE picture, if You have more I will ask for it later if I need. So please think of those 56K´ers and also mind Simtropolis´ 800x600 pixels maximum rule when You post. Also provide some information (as long as You know it) about location, time of erection, architect, funny trivia and so. Suggestion time ends 9th of September, and the jury is me .
  18. - You know I think that this game has run into a dead end. The focus on weapons and arms has really ruined this franchise; You practically need to know what WW2 was to enjoy this game. - Well I have heard about a company that is called Screwed Mill. Maybe they can help us. (later, at Screwed Mill) - So guys, do You have any fresh ideas for us? - Well the problem about games on war is that they are too hard for the average user. For example, if You lead a platoon and hunt down some enemies, enemy snipers may shoot You in the back. Lots of people think that this is really frustrating. - Can we solve this? - We have come up with the idea to make the enemies ploppable. We make a bar in the bottom of the screen and when it gets red You need to add more enemies. You can place them out in the woods or anywhere you want, they do not even need a road. - We never thought of that… - The graphics need to improve too. A lot of people get depressed by seeing those trashed vehicles and bombed out buildings everywhere. You need to add some gingerbread houses and chocolate factories. - OK, then I guess that we have enough ideas for the new game. - No, we need to go further. You know I let my 11 years old daughter play Battlefield last night and she said that it was not nice to hunt down Russian soldiers on the way to Moscow. We need to make the game fit all people, not just those who are appealed by the traditional combat elements. We thought about the slogan “Create Your own kind of battles”. Say if the Red Army strike back to the village You took from them, then You can plop a special building with special abilities who send out Halloween zombies and scares the soviets off. If You plop it next to the Gingerbread house the zombies will have a 28% boost. - A 28% boost by the gingerbread house?? - Yes, it may
  19. The Republic of Bevelle- Bolder than Ever! (Adrian Union)

Really a beautiful city. I love the mix of old-style US and Euro buildings. The streetscape is creative and You are good at hiding the "jagginess" of the diagonals. Can not wait to see more!
  20. Boris Borstj

Kongars, it is not draft render. But this tiny house is only 100 pixels wide in the game so in this shot it is in about 15:10 scale. That is why it seems a little blurry.

Boris Borstj is a small restaurant that is made to fit Your starter towns. The sims who work long shifts in the factories need quite heavy food to stand their days and this is where they can get it. This building comes as a stage 1 CS$ building, providing jobs for 20 sims on a 1 x 1 lot. You will also find a ploppable version in the landmarks menu. It is free to plop but brings no revenue, pure eyecandy that is! PS. The text "Those comments are moderated" in the comment form means that they are moderated. Unconstructive negative comments harm Simtropolis and will be deleted.
  22. CITIES

Great job with that city! Very realistic Euro feeling!
  23. German W2W Shops

    Thanks again, I love them!
  24. German Historical Cafe

All Your buildings are great but this is maybe the best one! The "Schieferhaus" texture is a masterpiece. It is really hard to have black-like surfaces turning out good in the game but this is a true 11/10!
  25. Griffin Building

Looks great! This is really what I want, real buildings... Not the dorky ghost- and fairytale style in Sim City Societies... Thanks for keeping the Sim City 4 flag high!!
