Half of the fun of all Simcity games for me was building up a city, then seeing how it copes with a major or minor disaster, then rebuilding afterwards. Sometimes I build memorials to those who died; it all just becomes part of the city's history. They should be able to be turned off however, because some people don't like them, and to be honest I'd rather they happened mostly when and where I say, because I'm a control freak when it comes to disasters.. I'd rather we control their position and timing like SC4 rather than completely random as in earlier games. Games like city builders and The Sims wouldn't be the same without things going wrong from time to time.

Ok, I'm not sure if this is the right place, but recently I installed SC4 with Rush Hour on my fairly new PC. I got to the region screen, and all seemed pretty normal performance wise. I then started a new city on a small, flat tile, and things started to go downhill from there. Scrolling the map resulted in a noticeably lower framerate, and adding trees or zooming out made things worse. Basically, it was so unresponsive I couldn't even start a city. Task manager indicates 50% CPU usage (100% of one core). Here are my specs: Windows XP SP3 Dual core Athlon 64 X2 3.1GHz (OC'd to 3.25GHz) 4GB RAM Ati Radeon 4850 512MB It used to run extremely quickly on this old system: Windows XP SP2 Dual core Athlon 64 X2 2.2GHz 2GB RAM Nvidia Geforce 7900GS 128MB Any clues to what may be screwing the game up? It has more power available to it, but it is running terribly. I only have the NAM installed, nothing else. It's a clean install apart from that. Help would be much appreciated.

Thanks, that seems to have done the trick. In most games that has the opposite effect for some reason.

Wow, that had to be the biggest post bump ever... 2003 to 2004 to 2006. I remember when the rain mod first came out. Don't ask why im on this site again... I registered back in 2003 and have visited only a couple of time since... just found the site in my internet history (which I back up every month, and goes back to 1999)
