  5. Cerodin

Urban Cerodin After about a year of growth and planning, Ceroin still didn't have a capitol. But, even without a capitol, the country managed to grow at astonishing speed. When the country first started out around a year ago, its population was around 4,000. By the first settlements, it was around 45,000. Right now the population has skyrocketed to 160,000. The problem was that it was all concentrated on a small coast line around the port of Aden. Aden is becoming astonishingwly wealthy, and its satelite cities are growing rapidly. A transit map of Aden. As you can see, Aden has a large rail line, large amount of parks, and congested avenues. Now, a picture of the Aden metropoliten area... As you can see, there has been a huge amount of growth concentrated in the Aden area, and Aden holding the Cerodin government while plans for the capitol finalize. Aden has an average income astonishingly close to that of paris, although still no where near the size. Aden has a booming satelite city named in honor of Kosova back in the home country of Serbia... The whole city is full of a gridy sprawl, with many public parks at biuldings. Sadly though, the whole city looks the same as the above pic. Exaple: There is one stand out area of Kosavo, and surprisingly enough, its the power plant. The Government has tight regulations on pollution, but since it can't afford expensive fusion or biuld enough wind mills and solar panels, they convert otherwise polluted industial areas outside thier power plants into public parks with large trees and green grass. Although Kosavo is a big city compared to a majority of the rest of Cerodin, there are 2 larger cities: Bokilj, and Aden... As youi can plainly see, Aden has grown a lot. Mid risese are almost as common as the cities parks. Many developements have come in the northern areas of the city. In fact, where the barracks used to stand, growth has surounded them... Instead of demolishing the barracks and biulding them elsewhere, the city officials decided to convert the area around them into public parks. Right next to the shown area, which is north central, is probably the most criticly acclaimed area of Aden. The Serbain quarter... The Serbian influence in Cerodin is still strong, so it would makes since the large Serbian population would have the first histroic section of the city. The quarter is surounded by trees lined parks and has many stunning biuldings inside the quarter. The Aden bell tower is located in the Serbian secter, so is a number of statues, and a fountain desighned by a resident of the quarter. Near the center of the city, the library stands next to the city courthouse... The area around the Library is very expensive. Many 4 - 5 class hotels and condos suround the library. Due to all the growth, the government needed a lot of power and a landfill. The large green area surounded by the trial used be part of a larger landfill, but since the growing city circled it, another landfill was zone, and the one standing here was converted into a large park. A little south of that is where the Aermenian population resides... The Arminean market in Cerodin is large, so the immigrants got rich quick. This allure drove more people to move to Cerodin. While Aden is the main concentration of the population, it has spread into the city limits of other towns, including the formerly small town of Bokilj. The Urban sprawl into Bokilj was greeted with mixed feelings. Many wanted the town to stay small and mantian its charector, while others were interested with the money coming into the city. Sure enough, the city got very rich off the development, but the actual town of Bokilj held on to its charm. The wealth from the nearby city enabled Bokilj to construct the first opera house in Cerodin. The educated population also brought new technologic advances. A disease research center was biult, and the city is able to safely rely on solar power. The new funds also enabled the city to construct a grand church in the old Bokilj area. The Church is a recent landmark in the area, and has since brought the wealthy into Cerodin. More and more the nation is growing, in population, techonolgy, wealth, and power. Soon enough, Cerodin will be a self reliant nation wealthy in power and influence. YAY! Thats the end of my second update! I hope i didn't riun anything that much Please comment on the growth of the country, Aden, how you think the capitol shall be planned, Bokilj, etc.
  6. Guinea is just going through that punk/goth stage a lot of kids are going through now. Of course he's gong to pick out a 3 year old club song and base all of rap on that. What if a rap guy based his opinion on rock music off Peaches by the P.U.S.A. You all need to just open your mind and accept other peoples culture. Rock/emo people need to realize theres more to rap than ass shakin, and rap people need to learn theres more to rock than screaming and whining about your feelings. Personally, I favor rock over most rap, but that deosn't mean i need to be ignorent and baised against the entire artform. Rock is never going to die, and actual rap music isn't. Hopefully though, southern rap will die out because it sucks! Lil John sucks, Mike Johns sucks more, and T.I. sucks the most. The only decent southern rapper is Luda. Some rock people hate rap music because all they hear is crappy rap music. Go listen to anything by Dr. Dre and I guerentee youll just want to grab your crotch and nod your head. I recomend Xxplosive.
  7. Green Depra

I have to agree with everyone else on the landscape. It looks like it came out of Final Fantasy or something, VERY COOL! Not to be mean or anything, but most of your population seems poor. It deosn't do you justice! Try biulding 1 school and 1 clinic near the middle to get some upper classs sims moving in. Middle and upper class sims have birght green lawns, and usually come with special little trees or shrubs, further blening in with your awesome scenery. It just makes me sad to see all those poor sims in a rich envoirenment.

  10. Cerodin

Cerodin, birth of a nation. Before I begin, I dont use any cheats or modes, and use a very small amount of custom lots. When and if the story progresses, I will be putting more and more custom lots and mods, but I will never cheat. After surveying the land of thier new country, the Cerdonese had to choose where to start thier innitional settlements. While doing this, the had to keep in mind several factors: 1. The intitional settlement would have to be relativly close to the old town near the river crossing. 2. The country had no port, so developement should take place near a water source, preferably the Ocean. There was a problem though. The Adriatic sea would flood over close caostal settlements due to rapid tides and storms. So maybe one or two ports should actually be directly on the ocean untle the government could afford to biuld stronger infastructure. 3. The settlements would have to be close to each other. The government doesn't have the money to biuld a national highway, or a national road, so development would have to be relativly close, or on the same water source. 4. The location should be relaticly close to the border, as too encourage emmigrants. The country is very small, in terms of population, size, and wealth. So any emmigrants, wealthy or not, would be greatly encouraged. With that being said, the government had plans for 4 cities to biuld around the nation. They, along with the previus town, would have a say in the government since plans for a captiol where still being drawn up. The 4 new settlements developed over a river that springs out of Kikola river crossing. The new river is named Kikola bend. The four new settlements developed primarily on the caost of the river, except for Aden, which served as the countries port on the Adriatic Sea. http://www.imgcity.net/server/primary//Cerodin-1125851021.png width=800 align=baseline border=1> The first developement happened at a twist the river made. The new settlement was named after the river, Kikola. http://www.imgcity.net/server/primary//west.JPG width=800 align=baseline border=1> Western Kikola. A primarely middle class area. Due to the paranoid government worrying about attacks from nearby Baltic forces (and who could blame them), the government has required every settlement to posses at least one barracks for self defence. (as if a couple Cerdenese troops could hold off any army...). We now move to eastern Kikola (yes I know it says New Benton, but I swore Im not gonna cheat to change the name, so the name stays in the game only. In this CJ, it will be refered to as Kikola.) http://www.imgcity.net/server/primary//east11.jpg width=800 align=baseline border=1> Eastern Kikola is where current development is taking place. Its also home to the Kikola college. Next, we move on too one of the nicer neighborhoods in town, and a growing tourism stop on a criuse down the Kikola bend... http://www.imgcity.net/server/primary//big%20ben1.jpg width=800 align=baseline border=1> Most areas near the river in Cerodin are lined with trees and plazas. Almost every town has a bell tower that towers over the tree lined riverside. Since there arn'y any roads connecting the settlements to each other, the towns rely on 2 main forms of transit: Ferry terminals and airplanes. http://www.imgcity.net/server/primary//air%20strip2.jpg width=800 align=baseline border=1> The government makes cheap airstips out of combacted mud from the river bed, and outlines them with a grass similar to golf greens that grows wild in Cerodin. For the present time, they use outdated serbain bi-planes left from the war for air transport. Moving on to Delmatia http://www.imgcity.net/server/primary//overview.JPG width=800 align=baseline border=1> Delmatia is famed for its magneficent church, which is currently the largest in the country. http://www.imgcity.net/server/primary//church.JPG width=800 align=baseline border=1> The church acts as the cities belltower, and not only brings in tourist, but brings in residents. The problems is that it brought too many residents too fast! As a result, some otherwise nice areas of the city are full of tenements and trash due to a lack of ships to carry all that trash to the national landfill. Remember, there arn't any roads, so the river is the only means of shipping goods so far. So if the trash biulds up too fast, its gonna stay there too long. example: http://www.imgcity.net/server/primary//west10.jpg width=800 align=baseline border=1> But not all areas of the city are soo trashy. In the Eastern side of the town, the first mid rise biuldings were biult. http://www.imgcity.net/server/primary//east12.jpg width=800 align=baseline border=1> The Eastern side is locally considered the wealthy side fo town, while the middle is by far the worst... http://www.imgcity.net/server/primary//central.JPG width=800 align=baseline border=1> The rapid growth of the small town forced city officials to quickly biuld apartment biuldings. As a result, half the city has beatiful southern european architecture, while the other half resemble public housing and commieblocks from the Cold War Era. As more people move to Delmatia, the city officials say the extra tax revenue will be enough to provide more than adequate housing and utility needs. Next, we move on to the town of Bokilj... http://www.imgcity.net/server/primary//overview6.jpg width=800 align=baseline border=1> If you look just north of the main city, you should see something that sets Bokilj appart from other cities shown thus far. The first Cerdonese railroad is being constructed in this town, and its owner are currently expanding it into nearby Aden. Bokilj is a somewhat groundbraking town in Cerodin, mainly because many first started in the town. The first recycling center, the first railroad, the first modern biulding, the first town to break 10,000 (although not the only one, as you will see further on) . The city also has the only port on the Kikola river... http://www.imgcity.net/server/primary//dock.JPG width=800 align=baseline border=1> The city also has the wealthiest average earning of any other city in Cerodin. East Bokilj is a good example of the cities wealth. http://www.imgcity.net/server/primary//west12.jpg width=800 align=baseline border=1> Meanwhile, on the Western side of town, ornate apartments sit side by side with new age tenements. http://www.imgcity.net/server/primary//east14.jpg width=800 align=baseline border=1> Now, is just because Bokilj is the first to break 10,000, or has the wealthiest average income, it is not the biggest or the richest city in Cerodin. That title would belong to Cerodins port, Aden. http://www.imgcity.net/server/primary//overview7.jpg width=800 align=baseline border=1> Welcome to Aden! While maybe not that impressive to somebody from New York or Tokyo, Aden stands out as the only city in Cerodin so far. It has a busy port on the Adriatic sea, a landfill, numerous ferry terminals, a lot of parks, a large amount of mid-rises for such a small city, an airport, and even a small defence force. http://www.imgcity.net/server/primary//east15.jpg width=800 align=baseline border=1> We began our little tour of Aden in the East. Adens busy avenues are a first for Cerodin, and are widely used. This area of Aden offers tours of the mayors mansion, a high class theatre, the city college, and a large amount of labs and sceince centers. Next we travel west... http://www.imgcity.net/server/primary//center1.jpg width=800 align=baseline border=1> Central Aden is located right behind the cities port, and his growing very commercial due to all the trade, but is at the same time driving residents out. The Commerical interest in this section is just starting to boom, with small companies from nearby countries starting up thier interest in the Cerdonese market. The people who actually live in the center, are either rich or live in government housing, both of which will soon be moving to the Western part of the city... http://www.imgcity.net/server/primary//west14.jpg width=800 align=baseline border=1> Western Aden is booming in population due to the drift of residents coming from the city center. A large majority of which, are business men from nearby Albania. With such a large Albanian community around, and with the Albanian residents being primarily moslem, petitioners have gotten City Hall to approve the first Mosque in Cerodin. The areas is also home to the cities airport, which served almost exclusivly to the other airport in Cerodin, at Kikola. You may have noticed earlier that I said businesmen in Bokilj were looking to expand the railroad into Aden, well, they succeded. Aden and Bokilj are now connected more than any other pair of cities in Cerodin. Railroads have meant shorter commute times for business men, and shorter freight trips for products from Aden to go inland. It also takes some stress of the fairy terminals. Aden is fast becoming a big city in a small country, the cities port is taking in lots of supplies from foreighn nations, because Cerodin has yet to zone farming communites, and increases the Cerodin tech market by sending them to rich nearby nations like Itay. http://www.imgcity.net/server/primary//dock1.jpg width=800 align=baseline border=1> Along with being an up-and-coming business center, Aden is also well protected against terrorist, and could last a couple minutes in a fight with any nations (thier military is mainly used to control terrorist, drug trafficers, train dicleplin, basically preparing the nation for when it can afford a real army). http://www.imgcity.net/server/primary//barracks.JPG width=800 align=baseline border=1> The small barracks are located in the forest outside the city, but are just short drive due to the roads paved through the trees. Well, i hope you like Cerodin! Please comment on my CJ. Also, what city did you like the best?

    Thats much better!

Again, I've never posted pictures (which I've said a couple times) so give me a break! I'll get on it soon so you 56k guys and see them. Just give me some time to mess with them. Anyway, whats everybody think of the story? (I know its kinda long, but it seemed interesting when i wrote it) EDIT: Pictures SHOULD work now.
  13. Redwood Pines

I would suggest changing the water texture. It seems way too bright.

The first pics of the Geographic survey. http://www.imgcity.net/server/primary//east%20caost.JPG width=600 align=baseline border=1> The South Eastern Coast of Cerodin. An island in the middle could be a future military base. The Great Cerodin River has an inlet here, providing good shipping to inland communities. http://www.imgcity.net/server/primary//west%20caost.JPG width=600 align=baseline border=1> Cerodins South West Coast, which also servs as a border between Cerodin and nearby Montenegro. (Highways represent border, i will find an adequet replacent in time, be patient) http://www.imgcity.net/server/primary//center%20coast2.jpg width=600 align=baseline border=1> Cerodins South Central coast, very rich in fish. Easy transportation into the main land. http://www.imgcity.net/server/primary//river%20cross.JPG width=600 align=baseline border=1> Near the Western border, the intersection at the 2 rivers provides quick trade in every direction. A small community has already developed on the site, making it the first city in Cerodin history. Having a river so close to Montenegro could offer quick and efficient trade with the former enemy. http://www.imgcity.net/server/primary//Great%20Cerodin.JPG width=600 align=baseline border=1> The Great Cerodin River, just north of the coast. Lots of rich land around the river. http://www.imgcity.net/server/primary//lake.JPG width=600 align=baseline border=1> The Great Cerodin river empties out into a lake (name pending, many suggestions over the name of the lake, please suggest any if you want) http://www.imgcity.net/server/primary//Split%20rivers.JPG width=600 align=baseline border=1> North east of the lake, the Great Cerodin river continues then splits to form the White Cerodin and Red Cerodin rivers. Well, that concludes the geographic survey of Cerodin! I hope you like my little terriforming, and I also hope the pics showed up. Any comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated. Theres more to the country, but nothing else but foothills and farmland. NOTE: I will soon go back and make sure everything is blended perfectly. As of right now, somethings arn't flowing right with strange tree formation or crooked hills/rivers. EDIT: The pictures should work now. Please comment if they still don't.
  15. Cerodin

HEY! This is my first attempt at a city journal so i hope you all like it! Ive noticed a lot of people around here suddenly start a city journal after a year of inactivness, so i decided i'd start one as well. Sorry if the pictures dont show up, but its the first time ive ever posted any on this site. NOTE: This story is pure fiction. Any association with current events is pure conciedence. The region is called Cerodin, which is locoted in present day montenegro. In the near future, the Serbain nation started an offencive in the Balkans, due to the rising threat of terrorst harboring in Bulgaria. Serbian politicians said they invaded Bulgaria to help eleminate the terrorist threats, but it soon became clear thier real intentions. Serbian infantry and amor fought side by side with bulgarian troops untle bulgaria was safe from terrorism. But soon after the elemination of the terrorst, the serbain troops turned on the bulgarians and attacked the Bulgarian military. Serbia turned on thier former ally for a couple of reasons. The most important was ecomic depression. Serbian homeland was quickly running out of minarels to use, and any further consumption of forest was to leave the country the most polluted in the world. Th serbs realized they needed to do something, so they sought out a relativly weak nation with bountiful untaped resources. The Serbains also realized the desperation and militant spirit of thier population, so they increased military spending, with the cover of counter terrorism. Anyway, the Serbs superior military quickly rolled across bulgaria with little resistence, due to the bulgarian sharp decrease in thier military. The Serbs actually allied with former terrorist to recriut them for bomb expertise to help destroy Bulgarian forts and important buildings. The United Nations was very aggrevated by the surprise attack of the Serbain army, so the U.N. was now in charge of settling the problem. Serbia was now freightful of U.N. Bombardment, so they reached out for allies in the nearby balkens and central europe. Allies in the Balkins were very paraniod that if they were to ally with Serbia, they would end up with the same fate as bulgaria, so Serbia was left fighting the world solo. In addition to that, Montenegro formally ended serbian control of thier country, and broke all diplomatic ties from Serbia. As projected, U.N. bombardment leveled Belgrade, the serbain captiol, and several other important serbain military and industrial centers. The U.N. troops invaded Serbain Bulgaria and quickly overwelmed the Serbs military with a multie national fighting force with major players including Russia, China, U.S., Britain, France, and a mix of other balkin countries. The Serbains were forced to evacuate Bulgaria, and started a massive biuldup of troops outside Belgrade. When the U.N. forces attack Belgrade, the Serbains held a very strong resistance. The Seige of Belgrade lasted 4 months before the majority of the city, and the military, was destroyed. The Serbain army retreated to the coast of thier former ally, Montenegro. The Serbs found out that the Montenegron ecnomy depended largly on Serbain Industy and materials, and that the nation had declined almost as much as Serbia itself in the past actions. The Serbain military wanted to have one last military victory, to encourage militant activity in the peasant population, so they invaded Montenegro. The Montenegren military was healthier than thier serb counterparts, but was outnumbered and much less experienced. After a month of fighting, the Serbs eventually assimulated all of Montenegro, but at the same time, lost alsmot all of Serbia. Shortly after the capture of Montenegro, a U.N. proposition arrived at the Serbain embasy in Montenegro, which now served as housing for the Serbain government. The proposition offered Serbia return of most of former Serbia, only if they complety abolished thier military, and instead relied on U.N. support for defencive means. It also gave the Serbs a small strip of land on the Mediterraen coast, in captured Montenegro. Serbia agreed with the policy, and moved its government back to the destroyed city of Belgrade, while new plans where set up for development in the small coastal territory, which was now named Cerodin. A small group of Serbs reacted with both praise and aggrevation. They said that Serbia has made crimes against humanity, and that the Serbain nation should not be allowed to control any lands they gained during the war. They also protested Serbain government control in Cerodin, calling it imperialism. The U.N. discussed these claims, and offered a small group of Serbains permission to start a new country in the Cerodin territory. The group gladly accepted, changing thier nationally from Serbian to Cerdonese as soon as possible. The first thing to biulding a nation, was to learn how to exploit the natural resources, so the newly created Cerodin government conducted a land survey. The survey should be finished any time now. Stay tuned! I hope you all like the story so far, and PLEASE comment on CJ so far!
