Railways located in the median of the Expressway?
trism replied to Need4Camaro's topic in Architecture & Urban Planning
Originally posted by: hamsterTK Transit rail is common in or along freeways, but I am having a hard time thing of more than 2 where freight trains are in the median. quote> There's a stretch (~2.5 - 3 km) in Montreal where a freight/passenger rail line runs down the median of the highway. (Hwy 20 west of the Hwy 15 interchange.) The tacks run directly through the middle of the interchange too (photo). It's even more strange because for that portion of the highway cars drive on the left side of the median. The tracks then continue alongside the highway until they're off of the island. -
Diagonal Elevated Highway Interchange
trism replied to Plastic Manc's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
Have you tried just dragging the elevated highway onto the end of the ground highway? It should automatically create a short transition section. If it doesn't work as you have it set up, try either bulldozing the last road underpass you have there, or pulling back the ground highway a tile or two. p.s. The NAM has an longer ground-elevated transition, but as far as I know there is no diagonal version of it, only straight. -
You're missing a dependency. If you're talking about this IKEA Superstore, it's just a re-lot of the original building found here, which is required. In general, check download pages and README files for dependencies.

The VDK GLR Tram mod replaces the default El-Rail train automata. If I'm not mistaken, the spawning of those automata are simply based on the number of passengers on the line. Are there a significant number of passengers on the line? (I'm not sure what the minimum would be to see the automata.) Alternatively, have you installed the SFBT Tram Mod? (If you haven't you can skip the rest of this.) If you have, then it includes a file that stops the default El-Rail automata from spawning (and thus the VDK GLR Trams too). This is because they introduce a completely custom automata that is only a single tram car. The custom automata are spawned from the stations included in that mod. If you have installed this mod, you'll have to at least remove the file BSC_SFBT_glr_light_rail_no_el-train_automata.dat, but then you'll get the SFBT Trams spawning from any of their stations along with the regular El-Rail automata (with the VDK Tram textures) on the same tracks. I would suggest only using one of the two mods.

The crates look kindof funny. They look like they're in a parking lot and my first thought was that you were missing a dependency and the cars were showing up as brown boxes. I think that part could be improved - perhaps stacking several boxes on top of one another, or otherwise making it look like it's not a parking lot. Otherwise - superb! p.s. are those weighted companion cubes? Nice touch.

Are you using a Mac? Because the version you downloaded was the Mac version. Only the Windows version has an installer. It can be found here: https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=21355

I think it is the problem tungston described. Lower your resolution down again, then open and save each of the large city tiles. The region view images are only updated when the city is saved. I had this problem when running at 1920x1200, lowering it to 1680x1050 fixed it. (Since tungston said it's a problem for 1600x1200, I think that the problem actually arises when the vertical resolution is >= 1200.)

Here's a work-in-progress map (my first) from a city I'm building called Valston. The red lines with dashes on the sides are underground highways. Click the picture for a high-quality .png version.

I was just looking for these yesterday, but I didn't know if any existed. Thanks! Thanks for the links, but what about avenue stops? There's the Road-top Mass Transit (RTMT) addon (and patch) that has a few tram-in-avenue stations or there's the SFBT GLR Tram Mod.

Elevated Rail over Road Y-Intersection?
trism replied to Randomtaskk's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
I don't know if such a puzzle piece exists or not, but there is the NAM Elevated Rail Station that can go in line with the el-rail over road (so the road continues under the station). It has a higher capacity - 10000 - to deal with the through-traffic. As an added bonus you don't waste the space for the station now. Edit: after taking a closer look at your picture, I see you already know about it. -
Note that some things come with installers. You can tell these if one of the unzipped files ends in .exe. Don't copy those to the plugins folder, but rather run them. In general, look in the README files that most downloads contain. They will explain how to install the files and mention peculiarities you need to watch out for.

No need for a mod, just a simple cheat. Close all of the menus (God mode, Mayor mode and My Sims), press and hold Ctrl-Alt-Shift and click the God mode button. You'll now have all of the original God mode tools at your disposal.

That seems to be the problem. I've been running the game at 1920x1200. Dropping it down to 1680x1050 fixed it. (Note: the cities have to be openned and resaved for the region view image to be updated.) I'll probably put it back to 1920x1200 and then drop it down if I ever want to make a whole region screeshot. At least I know that there is a way to fix it. Oh ya, I erred and in my last post. While I personally haven't openned and saved some of my city tiles, it happenned automatically when I loaded a region image. The problem doesn't happen on a completely fresh tile. Thanks.

I have the same problem. It happens both in game and using Sawtooth's Region Census program. However for me it happens whether or not I've openned the city tile (but also only for the large size tiles). I'm running the game in Vista 32-bit on a Lenovo W500. Any known solutions?
