I think you are misreading the statistic. On the data views the statistic is AVERAGE resident age. that means if you have 8 people living in a building the simulation adds their ages and divides by ten. Basically what that means is when the building shows green there are probably college kids living by themselves in thet building. when the average age increases into the medium ages (bluish green) that means they are growing into their thirties and getting married HAVING KIDS etc. when the building gets dark blue thats because the children have moved out and are no longer there to offset their old parents. example. a family of 3 a 55 year old dad a 50 year old mom and an 18 year old son have an average age of 41 one year later when the kid moves out you have: a 56 year old dad and a 51 year old mom and no child the average age of this family has now increased to 53.5 but the 19 year old has moved out (and increased residential demand in your city) that is my understanding of the system if anyone can correct me feel free.

I'd love this, and it would look cool, but have you considered having a positive effect related to this? Perhpas the air pollution on road utilizing these wires could be reduced. Also it would be cool if you guys could put bus platforms in the median of the avenue (functional or not). When I visited San Francisco I frequently boarded at stops in the median. I'm looking forward to following this project!

I would love to see a tutorial, even a simple one, about how to go about making these maps.

The CSX seawalls are really giving me heartburn. I can't get them to lay down all at the same height. Sometimes when I plop them they end up completely underwater. Why isn't this working am I doing something wrong?
-
thx for all the help guys, i got it working now, but it took me a while to fix. Basically I randomly placed them all over, then when I got one that worked, I levelled all the other tiles to that height and it worked, but I had to place alot of road tiles.

make sure that the blue is part of a 256 color scale, this is critical bacause SC4 freaks out with other colors. 4x4 blue is large city, but if you make a blue square that is the wrong size you will get very weird results, check out this thread to see what i mean.

All my citys environment status bars are red!

what kind of power plants are you using? as your populace matures and becomes more wealthy they get pickier about the enviorment. try swithching to solar. it worked for me. also if traffic is really bad that will contribute to air pollution. -
devote a small city tile to all your garbage/power buildings. it takes a long time to set up but make a city that has 15-20 waste to energy converters, buy garbage, and sell power. I takes a fair amt of work to set up but its worth it. edit: welcome to simtropolis!!

Residential demand in my region is staggering, maxed out for all 3 developer types. however when my new residential zones develop the occupancey is pathetically low. like 3/36, and 12/100. If demand is so high why is occupancy so low?
-
maybe it was just an anomoly within the simultaion. because io started it back up and after 10-20 years the zones filled and eventually occupancy maxed out. It's rather odd that it took so loooong for that to happen.
-
o i see where you got confused, demand for Industry and commercial have been mostly suppressed, so as a result the demand for workers (residential) is sky high. When that happened I zoned more residential but when the residential developed it was all dark. so i queryed the buildings and found that they weren't full. 3/36 and 12/100

try the rewards mod, or the "you don't deserve it" cheat to get the research center.

Canceltrans traffic and over-used ferry terminals.

make a subway connection on the bottom of the ocean. some of the traffic will exit the city that way, if you want to you could download the "Big dig" lots and use that to make a highway tunnel under the water and connecting to the next city tile, and i wouldn't worry about money because you have enough money to run the city ata loss for a very long time (you have well over 1million simoleons in the bank). don't be afraid to operate in the red while you work things out. I would recommend developing the area near the soccer stadium to boost income. -
also, when zoning hold dow control and zone 2x2 2x3 3x3 3x4 and 4x4 plots. arrows will appear on the side of the box facing the road (like C and R zones) this will limit the "randomness" of the industrial areas and allow you to dictate the size of buildings moving in.

once you know where you want the NAM bridge to go, you can use the "quick level tool" to make a thin strip of perfectly level land. also, I made a pedestiran bridge that crossed a bay and it actually went underwater the sims still used it but it looked kinda crazy. -
search the STEX for: "RMIP" "SWAP" "ACE modular Airport" and that should really cover all your bases
