Figure I upgrade my OS every four years. If I actually paid for the upgrade to Windows, I''d spend $99 or so, right? If I use Trillian Pro for four years, I''d have to pay $100. Why should I pay as much as an operating system for an IM proggie?

I actually use the free version because I have serious issues with paying $25 a year for a bloody chat interface. If they stop supporting the free version, I''ve got a copy of Odigo somewhere on this machine...

I apologise in advance for the sheer size of this thing. Sorry. Photoshop just wouldn't squeeze it any smaller. The only difference between this and the actual state of my desktop is that Trillian has been reduced in size to protect the innocent hide the names of my IM contacts.

Personally, I'd like to see a bit more international variety. Especially European and Russian, but Asian and African as well. I'd also like to see more variety on the American front. As much as I loathe Charleston, it has some gorgeous architecture. I'd be thrilled if I could make my own little copy of Chucktown complete with the plantations upriver and three-hundred-year-old townhouses downtown. Mind you, the city would probably last only a couple years before I pounded it with meteors. Repeatedly. As for a Building Architect Tool, I would imagine Maxis will come up with one eventually. They certainly cannot be blind to the sheer popularity of the BAT for SC3kU. It's going to have to wait until they finish the next patch, though. Big as they are, I'm sure EA doesn't want to spare that many people for programming support on a game they've already released. Not too sure about the building 'sets'. Depends on whether or not they allowed for the entire set to be replaced at once. Again, this probably ties into whatever plans they have for a BAT. Now, what would really be cool is if you could change the building set for one city and have it stick, so that if you went into the city next door and changed that to a different building set, the first city would still have the old set (allowing for more interesting regional variety). For example, it would be neat to have an asian tileset attached to a small city map in the middle of a huge metropolis done in an American or European set. Chinatown, anyone?

Clean and unoffensive? Bother. You sure know how to take the fun out of a person's day, you know.

Let me begin by apologizing for my views on Charleston. It is, indeed, a very beautiful city. Lovely architecture, wonderful waterfront areas, parks, gardens, etc. LOTS of culture. If you happen to enjoy the oppressive heat, I recommend it as a place to live. Please understand, though, that first and foremost I am a Yankee by birth and have always, always felt an affinity to a more, ah, urban setting. Quite frankly it's downright unnerving for me to walk around downtown at any time and not feel the people. It's hard to explain, but in bigger cities, there's a sense of life in a way. I've been down here the better part of two years and I cannot feel the city as being alive. Or perhaps alive, but not awake. It's just too laid back for me. Regarding the redneck and bible-thumper remark: there are many pleasant people down here, but for some reason I keep stumbling across the bigoted, intolerant narrow-minded inbreeds who wouldn't know a progressive idea if it bit them on the rear. And I've still not figured out a nice way to tell the various religious folk who knock on my door how to go away in poite terms. This week I've been wearing a Star of David and pretending to be Jewish. Seems to be working so far. Nice town we have here but if it's all the same to you, mate, I'll keep looking for a job opening up north.

I'm 25 and living alone (single and available, hint hint) in Charleston, South Carolina. A city known, if anyone's read Inferno by Dante, as one of the lower circles of Hell. If it weren't for my two cats, and three computers (one for each of us!) I'd probably have gone quite mad a long time ago. When I'm not out and about defending myself from rednecks, bible-thumpers and other creepy inhabitants of this city, I'm generally to be found playing SC4, reading a wide variety of literature, writing novels, slooooowly working on a MUD, or just sitting lazily in the sun, talking to the walls and seeing things that my friends tell me aren't really there. Like civilization, for instance. Oh, and I night-manage a hotel, when I have little better to do. About five nights a week, that is. Cheers.
