Wow. I missed a lot. Picture time! SPOILER ALERT: I'll be around Friday, it'll finally be on the STEX by Saturady if all goes to plan. Is that something to be proud of? After 6 weeks or so, not really. But I got that off my chest! That's good. Comes as a growable and ploppable, functional landmark. Plagiarism! But hey, I like it. I assumed it's copied from my sig? The city that never sleeps by the team that never rests: NYBT BAT Team It's a nice picture, I admit. Good work! -
I'm going to a Christian youth conference this weekend Friday-Saturday. It should be fun; I'll get to see some old friends from church and a couple kids from my school. Only thing is, I won't be online at least until Monday. See y'all later! Anyone else going? 'Cause that'd be pretty coincidental. Acquire the Fire, Mullins Center, Amherst, Massachusetts

Simcity4fan12: What architect thought of that building? It's a bit weird, but it's iconic, unique and it's coming along nicely. Personally, I think it's pretty cool. It looks complicated, so best of luck to you. Glenni: Welcome! Remember to take off your shoes. -

All I'm using for this building is: -Google Street View -Bing Maps (Birds eye view) I found it works just fine. You get your 3D view for the roof, and the ground level & walls. Of course, any other pictures are often a big help, especially from street level. So thanks! P.S. I saw One Brooklyn Bridge Plaza on the STEX. I don't know about you, but I think it looks great! -

So here's what I have so far on 72 Bayard Street. Lemme see... what does it need? -Window variety -Window coloring -Roof junk -Floor level details -Wall textures & details -Garden on the east restaurant window -Utility boxes on the east wall -Plenty more stuff on the west wall -Utilities on the north wall -Plenty more! Summary: It's a mess and still pretty far from completion. But hey, at least now you know I'm still alive. -
Originally posted by: FlyHigh I'm not sure but I think you could. You yould need another computer with a cd drive and a tool like PowerISO. You could then create an .iso of the cd, transfer the iso file to the notebook (use your imagination) and run it there (again, using PowerISO). quote> I think that's something like turning the CD into a file, then transferring it onto the netbook(?). My suggestion is to not use Simcity on a netbook. They're designed to be small and compact and mini and stuff, so they don't have the large, bulky hardware to run Simcity at the speeds it needs to. They were designed to surf the Internet. And not much else. Heck, my father has an Acer netbook, and I can't even play Doom at full speed. But it works, so...

Question about pederstrian tiles
Jumpthefence replied to usfwoody's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
What the city journalers may do is: they replace the road with ped mall tiles after buildings have grown, then they turn off the no car zots using the cheat code "tastyzots", then they take the picture(s), then they destroy the pedestrian mall tiles and put the road back. This is done while the game is paused. Of course, this is a lot to do; but if you really want it to look like residential on pedmall tiles, it could work. Then again, it's not nessecary with C or I. I don't know, I've never used such a method. -

I've been doing that all day today. I thought about doing the four buildings on the corners of Bayard & Mott. Right now I'm working on 72 Bayard Street. Hopefully I can provide some pictures by tomorrow. I actually got so interested on that certain building that 77 Water Street hasn't been put on a lot yet! Heh heh. I'm just going to keep the message brief at that and go back to BATing. I don't have any long term projects this week so BATing should pick up. Have a great Monady y'all! -

I have an idea for you SimCity Pro's
Jumpthefence replied to RandyDaytona's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Well, I found something similar a few months ago. But an editable list with lot footprints would be nice. If you did it in Microsoft Excel, go crazy! Who knows. It could be very popular. -
Passengers freed from hijacked airplane in Mexico City; crew still held
Jumpthefence replied to torontosubway's topic in Current Events
Aren't these the guy(s) that wanted to warn the president that the world would end on 9-9-09? And that it would be caused by a giant earthquake to hit Mexico City or something? And the crew is already released? And the news is sorta over? I read a similar story to that on FARK. I would imagine it's the same one. Obviously, the world is still here. -

Update: I haven't changed a thing. Slammed with schoolwork. On the plus side, I'll be rendering tomorrow. Also, I'm an expert of ancient China and I scored 100% for my presentaton. I'm thinking about my second NYBT model. Any ideas? If not, I'll start with any random building I decide on. Sorry about the lack of action. -

How's my pretty box!? I think it's prettymuch done, but I've already said that 3-4 times about this one building. I like the window textures, #3 was the right call in my mind. Otherwise it was very blah. You may have guessed that this was scaled upwards; it is. I don't know what more details I should add, if any (the only place suitable for more junk is the roof or under the first floor overhang). So... any thoughts? -Sorry about my lack of updates, I'm in junior high, we get a good bit of homework- -

Alright, I'm back from Vermont! Finally. I'm all caught up with what's been going on here. Simcity4fan12: Great brownstones! Just be careful that you don't start too many projects at once. My only suggestion is scaling it up around 140-150%, but otherwise, it's simple and nice. So here's my progress (from today; I couldn't get Internet, cell phone or GPS reception in Vermont): As you probably noticed, there are three labels. 1 is the former window style, 2 is the new window style with a simple concrete texture, 3 is the new style with a shadow sort of texture. I don't know which one looks better to the general public (as I am only one person), so I'm going to ask: Do you like 2 or 3 better? Your response is appreciated. A note to Kryptowhite: I spent 20 minutes just on the math about the windows' proportions. Trust me, it's close enough to the real thing. Oh, and you were right about the facade windows. I'm so good at replacing them it only took 70 minutes or so. I don't know if that's something to be proud of. -

Originally posted by: Kryptowhite when you remake something 2 or 3 times, you become so fast it won't be tedious anymore. I can make the prudential center facade in about 30 minutes now haha. So what im trying to say is that right now its good, but if you really want to go big and perfect this, i would take my advice. quote> I never looked at it that way... and I am a perfectionist... ... ... Alright, I can't ignore someone who's been BATing for 4 years. You are pretty good. So...Thanks for the advice! Besides, it probably won't take as long as I think it will. Maybe 3 hours, tops. But not tonight. I have school tomorrow. -

Originally posted by: Kryptowhite It does look better, however the one thing you forgot to fix which IMO was the biggest trouble spot was the height of the gray area in between floors of windows. Keep in mind that in RL that area is about 1/3 to a 1/2 the height of the windows. Edit: ahh...looking at your post on the last page i see a bit of a misunderstanding. The issues with the gray areas between floors and the big gray part in the middle have to do with proportions, NOT scaling. Scaling up 133% will change the look of the overall tower, but not the individual features of the facade, which will stay in the same proportion to eachother unless they are uniquely changed. quote> Eh... I'm happy enough with it. I didn't plan to follow every suggestion you give me. Plus... I just replaced those! Not again! 1) The grays of the tower and the roof are very similar which can make the building perhaps a little too monotonous. I might darken the roof so that it stands out from the facade more. 2) I would definetely add some sort of desaturation/dirt/debree to that runway texture, right now with the default GMAX colors it looks cartoony and unfinished, which is sticking out like a sore thumb against an otherwise "finished" BAT. 3) what happened to the middle part? it's running diagonal right now? you definetely want to fix that, as well as the height of that section as I suggested previously Thank you for more suggestions! I had all three of these in the back of my mind, so I'm glad we're on the same mind track. 1. Consider it done. 2. It is textured, but the texture was done in less than ten minutes. It's rather junky. I'll retexture it. 3. Naw, there are so many rows now it's causing problems. I'll probably decrease it to 8(?) slots. As for the height, I won't make a huge adjustment, but I'll change it. anyways, am I supposed to send you something? We were tossing around the idea of you sending me window textures or somethin'. I don't think it's too important. -

Okay... I'm back! I bet you all thought I went belly-up or something (It's been 2 days! Where is he?!), but I've really been occupied with school and packing for camping in Vermont. But enough about me and the emoticons I obviously like. Onto the progress! Seriously, you can see the advice and pictures from Francis90b and Kryptowhite... it sure helped. But seriously, it's like night and day, it looks super realistic (sorta) and it's now really obvious what building it is (not that the biplane gave it away). I'm not sure how I can thank you people, especially Kryptowhite, enough. ...But this is part of why I joined NYBT, I get to work with some really great (and smart) characters! I'm not saying it's ready for upload, but I'm very pleased by it. Add any more suggestions if you have any. I'll take note of them. PS. I have not scaled up the building 133% yet. Don't bug me about that! Warning: I will be in Vermont this weekend until early Monday morning; BATing will slow down. -

Originally posted by: Kryptowhite Lot of stuff here: quote> You weren't lying about that. Well, thanks for helping out a newbie! 1. I was already about to do that, and the building has not been scaled up 133% yet. 2. Okay. I will do that at some point. 3. I tried varying the shades of the windows; it looks much more realistic. But if you could send me window textures, I would gladly use them. Also, yes, the mullions are far too thin. 4. I thought I would have to do that. So I did that this morning. I use Paint program mainly, but I use the GIMP program if I need to add a filter. That's fine? 5. The runway's now 95% as long as it was, so it leaves about 1.5 meters on each end. And I scaled up and moved the ventilation fans. Again, thank you very much! I obviously don't know what-the-hell I'm doing, so I'm glad there's someone who does! PS. This wouldn't be my first model ever. Though it is my first model for NYBT. You knew that... right? -

Alright, I was prettymuch done as of last night, so here's a picture: I'm going to add in some more details this morning, but what you see is basically what you'll get. Simcity4fan12, you seem to be pretty good at avoiding criticism, would you suggest anything? I'm really bad at avoiding criticism. So I: -Scaled up the biplane 150% - Created floors 1 and 12 -Moved the ventilation unit on the roof 3 meters (and added a concrete slab where it was) -Finished textures -Reduced the amount of blue and lightened the color of the windows So, any suggestions, anyone? -

Originally posted by: sten1700 I've been working all day quote> Same here! Here's a quickie picture of my progress: Obviously, colors on the bottom haven't been modified, and neither have the mullions. I'm also going to add more window textures, plus a new roof texture, and I have to change the 1st and 12th floors. I'll also add some more details, especially on the roof, but that's all that needs to be done. In fact, it's pretty close to being done... So tell me what you think. It's only in preliminary stages, but that's the best time to change things around.
