Thank you. That will certainly encourage me to continue. Its been great testing out the new mods, breathed a new life into the game. It would be really cool to live stream the demolition, hopefully I can make that happen. Whether anybody is watching... who knows. I've built my hometown of Canberra with the vanilla build of the game. I would like to revisit that now I can plop specific building typologies. Here's a link! It got a bit of attention with the locals.

Hi, I use simcity as a tool for reconstructing existing or hypothetical urban/ architectural typologies. Below are progress updates of my current reconstruction of the infamous Pruitt Igoe housing development that was demolished in 1972 in St Louis. It utilizes a number of mods, one being project orion. My intention for the project is to recreate its demolition as a live stream. *Update: 19.08.14 Filling out of surrounding St Louis to a reasonable accuracy. Neighouring city's extended 3K border can be seen in the top left corner (building rendering isn't as detailed). Update: 19.08.14 Pruitt Igoe Digital Reproduction 180814 from tnpf on Vimeo.

Here is my build of the Canberra City Centre in the new Simcity for PC. Canberra is the capital city of Australia and is in the Australian Capital Territory. It’s not a perfect representation due to the limitations of the game, but it’s essentially accurate. I was surprised with the abilities of the game to represent a city layout (albeit a geometrically planned city). However it is difficult to restrict and acquire correct density and typology of developments. So the result currently is good from afar - but far from good. Any tips would be appreciated. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=javsnFAw7Zo

Hmmm, Im sorry to all you optimists, but this is terrible. Zoneing is a fundamental part of a city building game and for it to work this poorly and for the user to have to retro-fit things yourself to make it kinda look right, is not a good sign. Ive given the demo a try and it looks beautiful from the views further out, but zoom in too close and it takes a turn for the worse. What we needed in terms of zoning is something much more organic. Its so frustrating because the road creation system is very intuitive and looks great, but its no use if your building sites are rigid in form.

who the hell is going to play this game for an entire year anyway? I got the demo the other day and I think it has promise. You old fogies need to move on from sc4 and try something different.
