Crisis in south Anderson
Bamafan commented on CWLGAMER01's City Journal Entry in ANDERSON - Growing for the future!
I would definitly widen the road. Allows for further developement along the road. I have experience, in Hillard Ohio, on the ballot they asked whether to widen and continue Britton Parkway or to add a seperate arterial road to allow more traffic and businesses. The area voted in favor of widening and continuing Britton Parkway by over 62%. They just finished putting the last circle in and a new gated subdivison is currently being built even in the bad economy. So I'm in full support of widening your road. -
It's looks good so far. I'm downloading the demo right now.

I'll keep following this CJ. It looks so cool. What editing program did you use to get the rain? -
Nice start! Can't wait for more!

Hawkeye: Great work on the suburbs they look really good. Great use of Maxis homes, all my suburbs are using Euro-Contemporary, yet I have some really cool customs ranches, which I'm going to use for a CJ. Art: Great work on that (Suburb), that looks really nice. What's the crime rate there?

Earliest SimCity Series Memory...
Bamafan replied to enemyone's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
My first Sim City memory was with SC2K, we had a 95 back then and, I never could figure out how to get big cities. All my cities became abandoned after 3 years. Never could figure it out. Had some nice houses boom, gone. -
No, that's where I'm going to start from. I'm going to use the countys parcel map and work my way up from there to present. I'll make a CJ when I get time.

About what others have said about Suburban Sprawl. We just moved from the country to the Suburbs to get more services. I had a 15 minute commute to get to school. Now it takes only 5 minutes of walking, because our city planned out the walking trails. Also not everyone in the suburbs commutes to Downtown. My dad works at the hospital a 5 minute drive. He takes his bike to work because our city planned out well. I know some cities have bad sprawl, like Austin, Texas. (Former residents in a McMansion community) but most people move from the cities to the suburbs to escape from crime, which here where it is all Section-8 apartments just south of here. Clostest to the highway where a Shopping Center is, is where crime occurs. We had a burglary occur in a home, Behind the Shopping Center. We don't shop at places like that, we shop at the local farmers market 10 minutes away. Because why should we pay a mega-corporation to truck our food from California par-say. When we can get our food locally. I feel that people should move out into the suburbs because crime is lower and because not everyone needs to commute. I mean if I had a choice of living in the heart of Columbus, Ohio where you can hear about murders and gunfights nightly, or move out to the suburbs where the worst thing that has ever happened, at least here has been a burglary, I would choose the suburbs. Now I know that it might not be good for the enviroment. But not everyone uses a highway. We have 33 running through, but most people only use that to get to Honda. And the suburbs were only built to accomidate Honda workers. Which in turn helps the econmomy. So the suburbs have a good side. Me, I'll stick to the suburbs because, it's safer and we have access, without driving, to everything. Now that my rant is over, have a great day!

Hope that you continue. I'll keep following it. I'm starting a Marysville city Journal starting from about 1997, where satellite pictures were available to now.

On the river, a fictional region located in the Bayou of the southern United States. At this time there arnt any pictures due to not figuring out how to upload. But here is a small update: Springtown, Louisiana: "What should we do 'night Lou?" "I don' know, how 'bout some 'gator fishin'?" "OK, let me get my pole and I'll meet you at the Bend."

Official Mapping Community Requests - Take Two
Bamafan replied to tungston's topic in Mapping Community Room
Hello. I would like a model of Liberty City from Grand Theft Auto 4 as well. The exact scale please. Thanks -
Thanks!

Thanks for your tips! I'll try and get pictures uploaded to Photobucket today. I'll have the first genuine update tomorrow. If you think I should get the pictures first. Just say. Thanks, Bamafan

Lol. That is pretty smart. I use my formula for the sqaures.
-
Sweet. Is there a formula that you use to determine how many squares a road is?
-
Thanks for the D.C. map it looks great! But how do you get it into the game? Also I have another request. Can you do Washington D.C. again. Same size just with Large mixed with small squares. The rendereing I bet will take to long for 12 X 12 small squares. So I want just the same region size just with differnet size city squares. Thanks! Directions: Same directions as above

Ah sweet. I tried doing Marysville without any custom objects. It failed, could'nt even get the streets right. I'm going to try and recreate it again. The commute times ended up failing same with the 4/31 and 33 Split. Gosh that thing is hard. But hey Africa is only about 5 miles south of Marysville (Further away just saying south not east). The M-Ville is really hard to recreate especially Mill Valley. But if you need help with the conversions on how many squares are needed. I can do that. Here's the formula: 1.25 * X * 50 = X divided by 16. That formula is a life-saver when making cities. that's how I tried to make Marysville
-
Can't wait for some screen-shots. I tried making Columbus once. I failed. Are you going to build out to Marysville? I hope so, I think that Marysville's unique highway is going to be difficult to replicate.
