  1. Texture Request Thread - Networks

Do you mind if I add one request? I'll probably end up satisfying it myself, but at least it goes into the list. An orthogonal street intersecting a diagonal avenue. Right now, you can only drag the street into one side of the avenue, but not all the way across into the other.
  2. Poole, Diamond and Associates BAT Showcase

ROFLMAO at DT! Anyways, for anyone still in this thread-- *ardecila gets hit by tumbleweed blowing through* For anyone still following this thread, I'm trying to render Santa Fe now. It's a tricky little *******, though. I press Preview and nothing happens, except a TempRenderCam is created. So now I'm exporting it and importing it back in to remove any problems. You lose a lot of stuff (namely lights and textures) but the meshes stay intact - I just have to re-assign the textures and merge the lights back in from an older version. *crosses fingers and hopes it works*
  3. Gary: That Smithfield Poultry Market looks REALLY cool! If that's considered Brutalist, I might have to change my overall opinion on the style. EDIT - apparently, you've done two other buildings by the same engineer (Brynmawr Rubber Factory/Bank of England Printing Works), although you released them under generic names. I knew that dome looked familiar! I might try my hand at BATting this Poultry Market in a few weeks, after I finish my current projects. That is, if I can get some good photos...quote> Around here, Brutalism is just a bunch of rough-looking boxes in random configurations, that someone decided to call architecture. UIC (U. of IL at Chicago) is chock-full of Brutalist buildings. The campus is actually pretty cool, and the buildings integrate with it, although I don't care for their style.
  4. The Moose Factory (virtual Bar & Grill)

Date: 6/22/2005 3:23:41 PM Author: N_O_Body @ardecila: Welcome back, long time no see! I think your haiku does better as 'Ut micturisset in Borealem non sapiens'. quote> {censored} it! I take Latin (third year) and I can't translate that. Am I allowed to use a dictionary? Vocabulary was never my Latin teacher's strong suit, but at least he made sure we were well-grounded in grammar and syntax. 1st Conjugation Subjunctive Active Present amem amemus ames ametis amet ament et cetera... and more Latin.... *grumbles*
  5. Texture Request Thread - Networks

Protho: The cement divider you requested is known as a porkchop. That's about the only interesting thing I've ever learned from my local Public Access Channel. Tropod: Could you outline the problem with Avenue Corners? I wouldn't mind looking into it myself. I have needed those particular intersections for FAR too long to stop now, lol.
  6. Texture Request Thread - Networks

I just decided to go ahead and make my own requests! Street + Intersection integrated into Avenue Corner (useful when you need to integrate an avenue into a grid neighborhood) Street going into Avenue Corner (for the same situation as above, except that you don't have the perpendicular street) Tropod's request on the last page A request of mine (a similar tile exists, but this one is meant to be without stop paths/stoplights)
  7. The Moose Factory (virtual Bar & Grill)

Haven't been in here in awhile.. Still the wacky place it was before, I see. I've been painting the fascia of my house recently; I think the thin air at such elevations fuels my brain. I came up with several haikus. This one is a teeny bit crude/scatological (I don't typically think that way), but what the hey: A tall, tall ladder is not the best place to be when you need to pee.
  8. Rodina

Woah, cool usage, sepsis! Yeah, I made the jets. They're based on the MiG-29 Fulcrum. I changed the fuselage a bit, so sepsis and I agreed on a new designation - the AR-12 Siouxsie. It's really up to sepsis if he wants to release it - It's his idea/livery, after all. However, I do have some American fighter jets that are slated for release. Sepsis - cool icon there! It's my avatar now!
  9. Urban/Downtown Brick Road

I made such a modd. It works in all wealths except None. So if something is zoned or plopped onto it, it'll be brick. Otherwise, it's dirt.
  10. Texture Request Thread - Networks

Date: 6/21/2005 6:58:55 AM Author: Tropod jeronij: I hadn't actually requested this, but guess it could be done. Street corner with Diagonal Road completely through the corner. quote> Ooh, I second that one! I find myself needing that tile all the time!
  11. Whatever happened to this contest? I was interested to see who would win - that Viaduct Tavern looks pretty cool, I wouldn't mind having that in my cities.
  12. Monorails over roads

I believe the NAM contains a modd that reduces/eliminates Monorail Pollution. The way I see it, the monorail system is crappy because people don't want to use it. Nobody's made any stations for it, there are virtually no skins/models available, and it hasn't even been TOUCHED NAM-wise. BTW, the reason it costs so much is because of real-life problems. In theory, monorails are supposed to be cheap because they don't need fuel and there's no track to maintain. But IRL, they've ended up costing 5 times more than expected because people don't want to deal with it. That's why the SC4 ones are so expensive.
  13. Texture Request Thread - Networks

Actually, the ones you built in the game are different than the ones that Tropod wants. The ones in-game are actually straight road-into-street corner, since there's a special turn right before the intersection.
  14. Texture Request Thread - Networks

A few textures that would be cool: Straight Street Dead-ending into an Avenue Corner Straight Road Dead-ending into an Avenue Corner Straight Street Dead-ending into an Road Corner (done to avoid a T-intersection with stoplights) A yield-end is a term I invented to describe a dead-end with a yield. All of the above are yield-ends. I could probably make the above textures without too much trouble - just a little copy/paste/erase in photoshop. I had to figure out the Pen tool for my Dual-Networking switches, I could probably do that one too.
  15. Roads under Bridges: an Idea

Yes, exactly. Ideally, you would just add third coordinates to the paths, with Y-values of 24. I learned some more about how the CheckType lines work; maybe I'll take another swing at the puzzle piece.
  16. NDEX Parking Lots by Ardecila

Yes, Deadwoods speaks the truth - be careful where you place them.
  17. NewYorkCity AlleyWay

I thought New York didn't have alleys... They look good anyway!
  18. NDEX Parking Lots by Ardecila

Finally, they are done! Nice job polishing them, EQ - they were a bit rough when I sent them to you. The only problem is, there aren't many stores to plop onto them...
  19. BAT Help - Render Related Issues

Mcdrye - That depends: Is the shadow being cast in game, or is it being cast by a light onto another part of the same model? If it is the first one, then there is really nothing you can do about it, short of actually modelling the fence. If it is the second one, try changing the Shadow Map properties of the light to Raytraced Shadows.
  20. NAM: Development

Well, Swamper77 made a station for them. It's pretty nifty. Search his name on the STEX. One of these days, I'm gonna get around to making a full Chicago-style one, to complete the Chicago look. Until then, Swamper's will have to do.
  21. Roads under Bridges: an Idea

Smoncrie - have you tried making a lot/puzzle piece with an overhanging path to go under the bridge? I heard once from RedLotus that such a path file was possible. I even wrote one, as well as created an RUL entry for it. I couldn't figure out how to do it properly, though, so I never finished it.
  22. NAM: Development

Alright, I should be able to make different versions, accessible through the Home/End keys. I've recently come back to these to create new S3D models, to make them more closely resemble the ones in Chicago. I'm gonna release that as an Optional modd. One thing about them, though - If you'll notice, they have a wider-radius curve, to make them more realistic. A tiny bit of the curve should stick out the corners. You'll still be able to plop stuff in those corners, but visually, under certain rare circumstances, the puzzle piece's model will stick into the building there. Tropod - I designed them so the path file does not go into the corner tile, but the model does. I believe this configuration will work - correct me if I'm wrong.
  23. Equinox - you should be able to change the Property Value names by modifying ingred.ini in your Program Files/SimCity 4/Apps folder. You can edit in in Notepad. It basically defines properties for the game. I've done it several times without any adverse effects. Of course, you should save a backup before you change anything....
  24. Saltbox Colonials

Damn touchpad! Sorry, I accidentally rated this a 9 instead of 10.
  25. Saltbox Colonials

Oh, thank you so much! I've been needing some good colonial buildings for a long time now, for a 1776-Boston CJ. These actually look period! Nice!
