  1. Well, I really like the Tuscan Red paint scheme that it has now. I just need some time to tweak the textures until they look good.
  2. blahdy - it's interesting you should comment here. I actually started that tunnel entrance as a rail counterpart to your Big Dig project. I'm still not sure how it will work. It needs to be embedded in a hillside, but because of LOD issues, you might not be able to see the trains when they enter the lot. Maybe I'll BAT a section of hill around it, and see where that leads. I now need to do a little bit more modeling on the back of the station, finishing up some windows and the platform areas. Then I'll start texturing and the real fun stuff will begin.
  3. Glenni - the tunnel entrance does still exist. I'm not sure if the room above the tunnel entrance is still used. It looks abandoned in the photos I've seen; everything is computerized now. You can find the entrance in Windows Live birds'-eye. Since the tracks are underground in Manhattan, there is no matching portal there.
  4. No. See that bit of white at the tip of the thing? That ends up looking absolutely horrible in close-up shots. I never took the time to fix the bug and get it out. Maybe I'll take a few hours and git'er done one of these days.
  5. Okay: these two things are somewhat related to the thread topic. This is the North Bergen, NJ portal of the North River Tunnels running beneath the Hudson River into midtown Manhattan. Completed in 1910, the tunnels allowed the Pennsylvania Railroad to run trains directly into New York City for the first time. This next one is back in Chicago, or was - Grand Central Station was demolished in 1971. Designed by Solon Spencer Beman in the Romanesque style for the Wisconsin Central Railroad, it changed hands many times, and eventually became the Chicago terminal for the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad. The large pink mass in the back is a huge train shed covering 6 tracks. 3 other tracks were added later, but they had to be out in the elements.

Oh, cool! I love NY buildings!
  7. Jason's BATs & Tutorials

Wow, that is beautiful. Is it rendered with the rig I sent you, or the default rig?
  8. Tonksies BAT Thread NDEX

The texture should be changed to better fit the GLR tracks. If you'd like, I can hook you up with the proper texture.
  9. mipro Barry Sanders Project

Hey, warehouses! My favorite! It shouldn't be too hard to retexture for SC4. Actually, there are some plugins for Max that simulate dirt, and they do a pretty good job weathering buildings.
  10. LBMaM Gotham City 2006

Jeez, the whole East River in that pic is a blur. Who can tell whether Roosevelt Island is there or not?
  11. LBMaM Gotham City 2006

What arbitrary bay? Everything you see is 100% New York/
  12. Nofunk's BAT Thread

Er... Alright. I've got an idea. Render them seperately, but then put them together on a lot. This allows for the best of both worlds. People who want just one or the other can do that if they want to using the LE.
  13. Low Wealth Rowhomes

OMG, this reminds me of Baltimore. Hundreds and hundreds of streets lined with old row houses, coated in faux brick and faux stone. All of them used the same type of faux brick and stone, too - it grew annoying after the first couple miles of houses I drove past.
  14. Nofunk's BAT Thread

Oh - I've got a suggestion, Nofunk. For additional pictures of the Ford Piquette complex, you should go onto Windows Live Local. It has birds' eye view images that are pretty good of the entire area. Do you plan to do anything with the rail viaduct at the back?
  15. Nofunk's BAT Thread

Hmm.. I'm not sure if that works... because if you are looking up a grid on the face of a building, the height of the grid squares would get progressively smaller. The Perspective transform in Photoshop only affects the width.
  16. I got the blueprints from the Historical American Building Survey (HABS, and not the Canadiens, lol). CTA wanted to tear this station down to replace it with a more efficient "super-station". Since the City of Chicago deemed this a historically-important structure, city ordinance and national law required the CTA to pay for a building survey to be done before demolition, including measured blueprints, photographs, and historical research. This is the only station on the CTA system to have blueprints in HABS. BTW, HABS also includes some surveys done on buildings that still stand.
  17. Er.. KingTitan, there is no graffiti on the cars. They are authentic CTA 3200-series cars. The textures at that zoom level lose quality, though. That modd has already been released, but I've been working on making them look better. NYR: what do you mean by multiple textures?
  18. Alright, after several days in lighting work, I've finally gotten this ting done and rendered. I decided to skip some of the advanced stuff like Ambient Occlusion in the render. This is real, not Photoshopped. Amazingly, I somehow got the traffic to flow as intended on all levels. It's pretty friggin' sweet.
  19. Jason's BATs & Tutorials

He got his rig from me. I in turn received this rig from bixel.
  20. Jason's BATs & Tutorials

    Page flip.
  21. Jason's BATs & Tutorials

Okay - I just ran into that camera rig problem 2 nights ago when I was rendering my Madison/Wells Station. You have to go back into the rig file, and add a dummy object called "TB2CameraHandle". Then ungroup the cameras and select cameras Z1 through Z5. Bind them to TB2CameraHandle. Then go back into your building scene and delete the TB2CameraHandle that's already there to make room for the new XReffed one. You might have to remove and then re-add the XRef to the rig scene. This should work for ya.
  22. Nofunk's BAT Thread

Yeah, Detroit has a lot of really cool unbuilt building phases. Like the Fisher Building in New Center, which is pretty freakin cool by itself, was only the smaller tower in a phase of 3. The middle one would have been the tallest.
  23. Alright... I've been working on night-lighting these, but they are so much more difficult than a building, since I have to light an open-air platform. Spotlights look too uneven and artificial, direct lights don't look like the light has any particular source (which it should). So, there is no real visible progress. Be patient, and good things will come, lol. As for the Euroroad texture... that's not part of my job, since the BAT model will not include the road. It will simply overhang the NAM puzzle pieces, which are dependent on the Euroroad texture.
