SimCity: The Three Biggest Influences on Art Style
CastAway commented on jwazydizzle28's article in News
As nice as it would be, there's no game in any genre that will achieve this level of realism any time soon. But it is nice to dream about. . . -
Victoria Island Super Mosaic (Night)

Very well done, but I wonder what type of products does "Panasic" make? -
Those coast lines are just ridiculous. Bravo for both the beautiful aesthetic you've created and and modding skill it took to do it.

Ah, I see what you're referring to in the last pic tepodon. I saw those as rocks the first time around. -

Again, very well done. I would make only one suggestion toward adding another realistic touch: assuming much of the local economy would be based on agriculture, adding some small farms and livestock would really complete the picture (and some stone/wooden fencing to separate it all). -
Superbly crafted and some of the most realistic attention to detail I've seen on here. I also don't know if anyone has made this observation yet, but I couldn't help but notice the region's striking resemblance to the San Francisco/Oakland Bay Area.

Now THAT is saucy. Great job with a) grading the roads and b) combining "old" and "new" buildings.

Krasnodar - Progress
CastAway commented on SimHoTToDDy's City Journal Entry in Soviet Black Sea Union (SBU)
I've been around this site for a long time, but unfortunately rarely have the time to post. So here I am wasting time today and came across that pic of the port. . .hooo, buddy! 5 frickin stars for that shot alone (and for all the other ones too) - and it was so nice I actually took the time to post this! So well done mate; here's to more of the same! -
Anyone wanna take bets on whether or not the increased traffic from code hunting crashes the web server?

Holy Sidewalks, Batman! Look at the size of those suckers in the last screenshot. EDIT: I hope that was done BEFORE the blog post on reducing their size.

Also, those are some visually jarring angles when the road goes from slope to flat and back again at that intersection. At least a little more grading might save the suspensions of those cars. All in all though very exciting- nice to see the inclusion of climate. MODERATOR EDIT: Dude I'm sorry, I meant to quote you and instead hit 'edit'... so some of your post was cut out. I'm an idiot -89 EDIT: Dood, you're killing me. No worries. I'm sure it was only some of the greatest prose written in the 21st century. . .

I haven't been on in months and it just so happens today is the day I have a chance to come and see what's going on. . . I think I pooped a chicken when I saw that. Hats off to you guys for that one. And wouldn't you know it, it really is beautiful here in Vegas today. . .

One quick observation about the recent international incident between Canada and Brazil: for it being 1950ish, the Canadian Armed Forces appear extremely advanced technologically. I hope nobody ever REALLY ticks them off. . .

You may have already mentioned this, but do you separate your commuter and freight rail lines? Correct me if I'm wrong, but when rail first came into existence both types of transportation used the same tracks.

A damn fine city journal if you ask me. I also used to live in Chicago (studying architecture and urban planning no less), and I have to say with this game you've come about as close as you can to real life. (nice photoshop work too .) Once the BAT comes out, that will solve a lot of your problems as far as the architecture of current key buildings is concerned (think wrigley, comiskey, soldier field, united center, 333 south wacker, marina towers, etc. etc. etc.) but i'm curious to know what you plan to do for things like the express lanes on the dan ryan or the eisenhower going under the post office. (relatively far off, i know, but you gotta have a plan, right?) And wouldn't it be nice if you could acutally build the el ON the streets!
