I need an air purification lot, could somebody please suggest one
City Planner replied to City Planner's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
See the thing is that I didn't need the air purification lot, any air pollution that there was, was limited to the little area where the I-D is. I simply misclicked using the DAMN menu system and plonked it. I'd like to get the pollution back, to the normal levels that it was prior to using the akins lot, but please tell me if I am reading you right... No matter what air purification lot that I place, even the one you linked, when I remove it, the entire map is going to go red with air pollution in my city? How long would it take to simply have the red air pollution go away on it's own if I remove the akin air pollution lot? Will it go away on it's own, but in like hundreds of years or something? Regardless which way it works out, thanks for the link, I swear I don't find 1/1,000,000,000th of the cool stuff in the STEX -
Appearing/Disappearing Cars
City Planner replied to shadowman131's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
It may be working a bit "too good" now. I've got the high dat file in my game and I notice on many of these (see image) small roundabouts the vehicles start to run in circles until the roundabout is full of cars all running in a circle, then comes along new cars down the street until it's just a huge parking lot and nobody's moving or disappearing. Just wanted you to know if you hadn't yet experienced this The image attached is actually a little bit old, the traffic has already lined up down the street where you see the last car in this images line up of cars, and the line up of cars is heading for the highway LOL. It will be interesting to see if it backs up onto the highway offramp and the highway itself too. Yah, sure enough it's all the way into the neighborhood now LOL http://i47.tinypic.com/o710lk.jpg -

Anyway to have the landscape flatten under the roads automatically?
City Planner posted a topic in Cities XXL
Hi, Is there a way to make the ground under the roads flatten out when I lay down roads and Highways? It sometimes looks seriously whacked when the roads are all bumpy up and down. I don't mind when the roads have a mellow curve up and down with the landscape, but sometimes it gets really sharp up and down undulations and doesn't look right, would be better even if the roads just flattend out the landscape underneath them all the time in my opinion. Thanks -
I've been thinking about ordering them, can somebody tell me that has them.... 1. Are they physically on the DVD? I ask because some other sites that give a dvd for a donation (I think it was a Sims site) sent a cd or dvd and all it was, was a custom browser that allowed me access to I guess hidden parts of their sites where I still had to take the time to physically download the content instead of copying it off of the disk. 2. In what format are the files stored on the disks? Are they in installers like what SC4D uses (which I absolutely hate due to 99% of them forcing me to open their readme file, and way too many clicks to install, or are they in compressed files like they are stored in the STEX or are they in loose files where I can just copy over from the DVD to the plugins folder in one fell swoop? I don't know that I can donate this month as I just paid off the chemotherapy bill for my dog and it's left me absolutely flat broke (not even a credit card with a dollar left on it, and a bank account that now says 0.00 balance) but perhaps next month or a couple months down the line when bank account and or charger plates stop puking from all the activity they saw the past week in chemo bills. Of course with the download speeds of the STEX as of late (almost down to dialup speeds, sometimes less than dialup speeds), it might be worth getting a third job to donate some dinks to the site. What's up with this?

tutorial on how to make realistic farms and suburbs

Thanks I'll look to see if I can find it in my polluted menus. -
I tried to lay down a tram system late last night... Is the tram tracks one of those pieces that I have to plop down one square at a time? Just wanted to make sure that I'm not doing it the "hard" way if there might be an easier way like the Sam roads or something. All your trams look so great, thanks for sharing.

Earliest SimCity Series Memory...
City Planner replied to enemyone's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I could be wrong it's been so long but I seem to remember seeing an advertisement on the television one night while I was sitting on the sofa opening up bills, and saw the "waves" of the water in SC4 splashing on the shoreline and started cursing that I didn't own a computer that would be capable of playing SC4 when I opened up my Mobil Gasoline Bill and one of the phamphlets inside was offering me a new "486 DX25 or DX40" and I could pay for this new computer with printer monitor and mouse every month on my Mobil gasoline credit card. I can tell you it didn't take me but a couple minutes to call up the company and place the order for the computer so that it would be there about the same time that I could go down and pick up SC4. So, really I guess you could say that Simcity 4 cost me about $1500.00 since that was all that I used that computer for was to play SC4. My old 286 was fine for my daily work horse. -
Is there a mod that I need to be able to build one whole city as a very rural farming community?
City Planner posted a topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Hi, I'd like to dedicate one of my cities in my region right now to making it a very rural farming type of community. Is there some kind of plugin or mod that I need so that the agriculture demand will maintain a high enough state so that I can build plenty of farms to make the city look like a rural and farming community? Thanks, -
Who all made plugins that put trees on the sides of roads and cars on the sides of roads?
City Planner posted a topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Hi, I'm trying to remove a couple plugins from my system although I don't know who might have made them (most of my plugins are installed in the default folders that the installer installed them in or that they came out of zip files with) and theres two things that I'm trying to remove from my cities as they've just sort of started to look a bit too messy for my current tastes. One is some aspen looking trees that grow on the sides of the roads (you know like in real life down on Maple street where the roads are lined with trees. The other one is car parking on the sides of the roads. Does anybody know who made these two kinds of plugins? Knowing their username or whatever they went by for creating the plugins would likely help me find them to remove them out of my plugin folders for now. Thanks, -
tutorial on how to make realistic farms and suburbs
City Planner replied to Adnan88's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
In the one tutorial on creating realistic looking farms the author says to get a one by one lot that costs nothing to plant or bulldoze, it also looks as if it doesn't alter the terrain (like a street or road would), does anybody know of such a lot that more or less conforms to the landscape instead of flattening it? Thanks -
Is it normal to have a lot of informational lag in Cities XL?
City Planner posted a topic in Cities XXL
Hi, Is it normal to have a lot of informational lag in Cities XL? What I mean is that I'll see those icons above some busines's that indicate that they are doing poorly, and I'll click on the building and all the information is good and green and nothing is supposedly wrong with it, but yet the doing poorly icon still hangs above the building. Is this normal for Cxl? Because it's really throwing me for a loop sometimes when Im trying to keep everything straight and then all of a sudden I see a small handful of buildings get that icon over it's roof and then go check on them and nothing is wrong with them. Same thing seems to be happening to the information panels that slide in at the top of the screen when clicking on the different types of people (unskilled, skilled etc), sometimes they will be yellow, and I'll click on them and there will be nothing indicating a problem. Normal again? Thanks -

They realize that their game has failed, and are going to try to get out of it with as little of a financial loss as possible. They went wrong when they started ignoring the community. Even worse, I get the feeling all other gaming companies are probably seeing the futility in trying to make a city-builder game. The second Monte Cristo stopped listening to the community is the moment when it became obvious that there will be no successor to SC4.quote> If Cities 2011 is really MC just trying to cut their losses, then I guess we should expect it out sooner rather than later since they wouldn't be putting in the extra man hours and money to minimize their financial losses. If it takes them really into 2011 to produce Cities 2011, then I would expect some substantial improvements in the game in some way, and thus some more serious money spent on it.

Hi, I'm trying to tree my cities (in God mode) to make them look natural and am wondering what other peoples approach is on treeing their cities (while in God mode). Originally, I just slammed some trees all over the city's landscape, this didn't look very natural to me as well as I had to turn shadows down to the lowest setting to avoid performance issues on larger city maps. The way I've been doing it now, is to put pockets of trees scattered about on the landscape, this helped with the performance issues as shadows can once again be on the highest setting without noticible lag happening. However, I don' tknow how "natural" or realistic this actually looks to just have an assortment of different sized pockets of trees spreadout on the landscape and so... I'm looking for the ways that other people place the trees in god mode when starting their new cities. Anybody want to share how you Tree your city in God mode? (pics wouldn't be a bad thing if available). Thanks,

I can't create a river to save my life, please help me learn how.
City Planner posted a topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Hello, I have been struggling with this all afternoon and for the life of me I can't create a good looking river in God Mode. Attached is my last attempt when I gave up about an hour ago. I've tried all the different tools to create a river and none of them seem to work properly for me to create said river. Anybody got the 1. 2. 3. steps to creating a river in god mode that looks good? Thanks, P.S. I don't really like the way that fake water looks in the game but if there are newer plugins that simulate rivers really well then I may give them another try. -
Are there any Tree mods that "grow" like Maxis trees?
City Planner posted a topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Hi, Are there any tree mods or tree controllers that "grow" like the maxis trees grow? I don't mind using the Maxis trees if they are the only ones that will grow, however I'd prefer to use 3rd party trees if there are any that grow like the maxis trees grow since the 3rd party trees are so much nicer to look at. But I do like the way the maxis trees grow and I guess will stick with them if that's the only ones that have the capability of spreading on my landscape. -
Get all of Madhatter106's stuff from stex and Matt325's stuff from LEX as a starter, I really enjoy both of their buildings when they appear in my city. Then download the sc4datpacker from LEX so that you can compress all those hundreds or thousands of buildings so that your game can start in a reasonable amount of time. Before datapacked plugins of 3.8GB my game would take about a minute to minute and a half to load, after everything is datpacked it takes all of maybe 30 seconds or so.

My Environment bar is completely red.
City Planner replied to City Planner's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Originally posted by: Rionescu And for your second question you can change it in gameplay settings.quote> I fail to see this option. I don't want to turn them off entirely I just want to make it so that if I've already got a reward building on the end of my mouse cursor the other rewards that are in queue to popup, hold their horses and wait until I place the building that I'm currently rewarded. I've tried to smother my city with trees using the mod that allows me to open up god mode but that doesn't seem to help, the red bar isn't budging, I also make sure to never use dirty power plants, I've always played with either wind power or power plants that the user says is green that I find in STEX. -
Does anybody have a list of school plugins that work properly? I've got a lot of schools but it seems that many if not most of them don't raise the EQ of my city. I can fully saturate my cities with school plugins and the eq doesn't seem to rise like it should be. So maybe somebody has a list of schools that works like Maxis schools work or a link to a tutorial how I can go about altering these plugins to make them work more like the maxis schools. Thanks, Please do not hijack another member's topic. tungston

I like these a lot, but I don't particularly care for them being put in the fire menu, I think regardless what menu might be less cluttered they should go in the menu they belong in, else we end up with situation where people place things like a zoo in my police menu which is not a good situation. 4/5

After attempting to use this in one of my tiny cities I have to agree with some of the others, too expensive for too little power. I've had to plop way too many of these for the size of the lot. I'd expect the amount of power that comes out of this to be plopped in one square only. Never the less the model looks pretty and I'll augment it's lack of power with other smaller power plants.
