  1. A long time coming

Wow its been almost 5 years since I originally started this CJ! I haven't posted at all but I have very much continued working on my region. Through a mix of changes I now work from home. So I will definitely be updating much more often now. For now, I'll start with an overview of the Province of Windermere. Map of Windermere Windermere now has a population of about 6.6 million, with the province broken up into 9 regions. The three "mega"-cities in the region are Foymount (which I covered in my initial posts), Clarington and Bayshore. The region is quite dense in some areas but rural in others with most of the populated cities lining the rivers that break up the region. Foymount is the oldest mega-city followed by Clarington and then Bayshore. All the cities in the region are connected by a vast highway network with the Province controlling most and others falling to the local municipality. Clarington (pop. 636,898) is a large city surrounding a large mountain to the north of the region. The Downtown area is surrounded by Highways 30, 35 and 40 that stretch out to other neighbourhoods and neighbouring cities. Downtown Clarington with the 30/40/35 interchange Clarington's high density carries over into neighbouring cities Dunkerron, Wexford, and Copperfield, with residents commuting in between each for work. Highway 4 in Copperfield Bayshore (pop. 599,302) is a large city sitting inbetween a mountain and the Cobden River. The city surrounds the mountain and its namesake bay with skyscrapers and large buildings, split by current day Highway 150 the Bayshore Expressway, originally Bayshore Blvd. Bayshore Downtown looking west at Highway 150 Bayshore Region is quite dense as its overall population of 1.57 million makes up over 20% of the province's overall population. Commuters live in neighbouring cities like North Bayshore, Colby, Corry, South Lorne and Moon River and commute back to Bayshore for work via car, train, subway or monorail. North Bayshore Highway 5 and Highway 54 in Corry Highway 4 and 40 in South Lorne Transport Windermere (TW) had an extensive highway plan for the entire province which has been 80% completed with the edges of the province left for construction. Due to the age of the highway network in some parts of the province, it was decided that some old interchanges and sections would need to be rebuilt or upgraded to increase safety standards, or downloaded to the local region with the speed reduced. So as I go through the region updating my existing cities, I will document it on here! Thanks for reading!
  2. Hey everyone and welcome to the Province of Windermere. I've decided to start a CJ now that I've finally got most parts of the NAM running somewhat stable on my Mac install. I've been playing SimCity for years but have only done a City Journal once years ago, so we'll see how it goes. So let's get right into some of the back story. Windermere is a large province with three major metropolitan areas; Foymount, Clarington, and Bayshore. Since Foymount is the oldest area in the province, we'll get started there. Foymount started out as a small town with a small industrial area and plenty of farmland. Looking West towards Cobden and the construction on Highway 10 and Highway 2. The town began to expand along Main Street, which ran from the neighbourhood of Westmount, into the new built area called Cobden. They also expanded farther west into a new suburb called Cobden Rapids. The town finished the new expansions with the creation of its first highway, Highway 10, which stretched East-West from West Raine into, the quickly expanding industrial neighbourhood Kipling, west through what is now Old Towne, ending in Cobden Rapids. West Raine prior to Highway 10's expansion Cobden Rapids prior to Highway 10 Construction Highway 10 and Highway 2 in Cobden after construction has finished. Highway 2 Construction at the old Main Street Bridge. Lakeshore St. and the Old Main St. Bridge Looking East after construction of the new Main Street Bridge and Lakeshore Intersection has completed. West Raine looking North after Highway 10 Expansion West Raine Looking West Quickly after that, two new towns, Waltham Park to the northwest, and West Raine to the east, began to rapidly expand. The amount of commuters coming into Foymount from these neighbouring towns resulted in new decisions for the city's planning committee. Commercial interests were at an all time high in the town, with many businesses looking to set up in a central location. Up until now, commercial offices operated out of Foymount's commercial area in Cobden as well as some plans had been made in the city's new Central district in Old Town. Unfortunately, both of those areas lacked room for expansion as well as proper access to Highway 10. Newly built Central Avenue extending from Mount Circle Looking West at Old Town as well as the new Central District The city decided to establish a new Downtown north of Cobden and Highway 10 and to the southeast of Waltham Park. Also, a new highway, Highway 12 would be created, spanning from Highway 10 west of the bridges, north ending at Highway 2, which was expanded into Waltham Park. As well as new 3 lane bridges would be build for Highway 10 to cross the Kalden River. At this time, the lands on the opposite side of the river were designated as future airport territory. Highway 12 and Highway 10's new interchange Looking East at Downtown, University of Foymount, and Highway 12 Looking North at Highway 12 Ending at Highway 2, which turns into Waltham Park The new expansion to Waltham Park created a huge demand in the area, with new commercial offices springing up along Highway 2 as well as a huge residential growth in Waltham Park. Which led to huge traffic problems along Highway 2. After multiple failed attempts to ease traffic in the area, the city decided it was time for another highway expansion. Foymount's committee first designated a regional council, that would work with neighbouring cities and towns to work together in creating a better region for its citizens. The council decided to make a number of expansions in the area. First, in Cobden Rapids, the north-South section of Highway 10 would be expanded north into Waltham Park, and would become Highway 80. Cobden Rapids' new built municipal expressway would be expanded to the river and would become Highway 280, with future plans to expand north into Waltham Park on the other side of the river. The council decided to finally extend Highway 12 north, building a small collector-express system to run Highway 12 and 2 together until Highway 2 turns into waltham park, with Highway 12 continuing north. They also decided to built a new highway for future commuters flowing north from Highway 10 to the north edge of Kipling, which would be designated as Highway 60. New Highway 10 and Highway 2 Interchange Highway 60 and Highway 10 new interchange New Interchange at Central Avenue has well as the new Union Street. Looking East at Highway 60 Exit at Branson St. and Terminus at King Street These expansions resulted in huge growth in Downtown as well as growth in Kipling. It also resulted in a huge growth in a small town south of Foymount named Kalden Bay. A huge housing boom left Foymount searching for new areas to built as Westmount and Old Town were quickly approaching capacity. Developers expanded to the newly dubbed "South Side" and quickly built along the newly built Highway 5. Looking South at Construction on the newly built Highway 5 Bridge Again the city was left with planning decisions as its neighbourhoods filled up. They also widened Highway 5 and expanded it with a new bridge into Cobden as well as east into the newly designated high tech area "Plex Creek". They announced that Highway 60 would be expanded south to Plex Creek and Highway 5 within the next year. Well I think that was a pretty in-depth intro. I hope you enjoyed. Next Post will be about where Foymount is at today! Comments are welcome! Here's a preview as to what's next:
  3. Foymount: Present Day

I've been absent for like 5 months , but I'm back with a big post and a few more lined up! Fast forward to present day, Foymount is the largest city in the province with 444,000 people. The Metro area has a population of approx. 600,000 people. Downtown has expanded completely with multiple skyscrapers built over the years, as well as residential condos have taken over the east side of Downtown. Highway 12 running through Downtown, with King and Queen Sts. crossing the highway. A new community, Bransworth, has been created north of Downtown. Bransworth and Highway 12/2/North St. Interchange. Comet Stadium as well as the Airport Road Bridge. Cobden now boasts its own skyscrapers as well as a small condo community on the shore. Cobden condos and Highway 10/12 Interchange Old Town and Westmount have both expanded with multiple new condos, as well as the South Side, which is plagued by traffic on Highway 5. Old Town and Highway 10 Westmount by the Main Street Bridge South Side South Side along Highway 5 Highway 60 runs through the entire city from Plex Creek to the newly built North Kipling, as well as a new highway, Highway 64 branches off to west to pass the new airport and heads north into Frank. Foymount International Airport Kipling has expanded north as well as a new residential community, North Kipling, has been built north of Highway 60 and the Kipling Landfill. Plex Creek has blown up with new buildings, as well as a new highway, Highway 110, providing direct access from Highway 10 East to Plex Creek, as congestion was becoming an issue on Highway 60. Highway 110 - Highway 60 Bypass Plex Creek with Highway 60 heading North and the end of Highway 5's city highway. Also, Highway 110's terminus at the top. Kipling Industrial Park and part of the Highway 60/10 Interchange North Kipling and Kipling Pits Landfill McNicoll Heights, a new residential community, has also spun up on the top of Mount Foy beside the country club. That's it for this full post! next we'll look at the province's latest stats as well as Metro Foymount's transit system. Comments are welcome! To close, here are some mosaics I put together: Now at night:

  6. Welcome to the Windermere Metropolitan Area INTRO Hey this is my new CJ, Windermere Metropolitan Area (WMA), or Windermere for short. Windermere is located in Canada, in the province of Ontario, north of Toronto and northwest of Timmins. As for the climate, in the winters, temperatures can reach below -30°C / -22°F, with rough blizzards and storms but the summer season is calm with temperatures around 30°C / 86°F. Enough info, let’s look around the city. UPDATE #1 Let’s take a tour Downtown first. Downtown has just recently sprung up with massive skyscrapers with the demand being high and the economy doing well. Windermere is right alongside Toronto with major American businesses trying to set their roots in Canada’s major cities. Below are the LG Electronics building, HSBC building, and the Apple Building in north Downtown. The Downtown Windermere Central Rail Station with surrounding hotels. RBC Tower in the east with Highways 11 & 33 in the west. University of Windermere Central Campus Financial District The Windermere Soccer Stadium and Windermere Racetrack The Windermere Baseball Stadium The Fallon Hills Shopping Centre Here is John A. MacDonald Windermere International Airport, Terminals 1, 2 & 3. Marriott, Sheraton, Embassy Suites, Omni, Courtyard, and Doubletree Hotels. With Highways 11, 33, 36, and 43 surrounding. South of Downtown, the South Hills Shopping Centre south of Highway 36. Highway 78N below and Highway 33 and 43 going north-south. Finally, the Glenbrook Business District with the Glenbrook Stadium, City Zoo and Country Club in the northeast. Also Highway 63 going north-south with Highways 163 & 263 going west. Next update I’ll show a few more of the cities in the WMA and maybe a map of the current highway system. Comments and constructive criticism are welcomed!
  7. The Greater Terran Region

Happy birthday to an amazing cj
  8. Deck the Halls in Windermere

Happy Holidays Simtropolis! I sort of just ditched my CJ for a while due to many distractions in life so after my hiatus I’ve decided to post a Holiday Special to give some people entertainment on this holiday break. I’ve decided to make some changes to the way this cj flows. Since I think people couldn’t keep up before since I was flipping from city to city in my region, I’ve decided to focus on one city for a few posts and I’ll only show the 3 Tri-Cities and Island City. That’s for whoever wants to follow this cj after the Holiday Special. Also I may only post periodically at certain points because I may get extremely busy. Anyways, now that we have got that out of the way, let’s get started with Washburg! As some of you may know, Ontario was hit with a series of horrible winter storms in the past few days and we have received around 50-70 cm in total after the storms. As you can see, cars are struggling to drive down this snow-covered highway. Thousands of flights have been cancelled due to unsafe flying conditions, leaving thousands of passengers stranded or flocking for nearby hotels. (sorry about the pause bar) Many businesses Downtown let their employees leave early to battle the winter storms. At City Hall and King’s Park, Windermere & Washburg employees and government officials left hours before the storm got worse. Though temperatures rose to a warm 7°C (44°F) and the roads were clean for the Christmas Eve Shopping Rush. And we are left with light snow falling Christmas morning and empty roads. (Same road as first picture but now developed a bit more). Well that’s it for now. I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Don’t forget to check out my CJ in the New Year!
  9. Deck the Halls in Windermere

UPDATE 5 (PART 1) Well it’s been ages since I’ve done an update thanks to school, work and other things getting in the way of me posting this update. So here it is... This is PART 1 of my update... Part 2 soon to come.. Let’s start with the new Windermere Metropolitan Council Centre. The new building is the headquarters for Windermere Metropolitan Council, who deals with decisions regarding the entire WMA region. (Light Blue Skyscraper) Next is the new Highway 378 James E. Dixon Expressway, named in honour of the first council president, James Ersla Dixon. The expressway runs through undeveloped West Downtown ending at the Windermere Speedway. Highway 89 Crescent Park Thruway now runs through all of North Downtown to support the heavy traffic from Newport. The new transit system is currently under construction. Citizens are desperate for this transit system to be finished as soon as possible due to the long commute to get to the city cores. Now on to Washburg... The Southern City Expressway is now complete with a collector/express system and spans across the southern part of the city. Also, the Athbasca Tollway is now complete and is currently the only toll expressway in WMA. It is owned by a private company that works in cooperation with the Ontario government. This company also runs the 407ETR that runs north of Toronto and takes some commuters off of the well known Highway 401. It runs through the centre of the entire region serving as a direct route through the region. Electronic Toll Plaza The new Northern Ontario Legislative Building is now open in Downtown Washburg. Ontario MPs from the north part of the province began to complain about the extra long distance they had to go to get to the Legislative. So Washburg was selected as a city to build the new North Legislative Building. Every few meetings are switched between Toronto and Washburg. The building is located in Washburg’s Government Park, which also houses the University of Washburg. Northern Ontario Legislative Building Government Park Now let's go south of Washburg to the City of Disturbia. Previously called Fair’s Cove, the city voted to have the name changed to Disturbia, in honor of Robyn “Rihanna” Fenty, the famous singer who spends much of her vacation time in this city. North Disturbia Downtown Disturbia Rihanna seen on the streets of Downtown Disturbia at night To end off, the WMC (Windermere Metro Council) has made a decision to include the Island City region as a major Tri-City in the Windermere Metropolitan Area. This means 13 new cities, towns and municipalities have been added to the WMA, which gives the WMA a grand population total of 1,101,000. In the part 2, we’ll be taking a view of the beautiful Island City, Clarington, South Washburg, and we’ll get a view of the entire region.... -Dman18

  13. Deck the Halls in Windermere

September Special UPDATE 4 After the first week back for Ontario students, the WMA council made an announcement to the public: Now back to Windermere... Windermere’s currently having major traffic problems.... Streets, roads, and avenues.... All around town.... Do to all the neighbouring citizens and its own trying to get Downtown in the mornings... And home in the evenings.... Downtown’s Central Station East is used but not used at much as the city would like. One of the council’s new projects, which has started in Windermere, is to connect the Tri-Cities and all major neighbouring cities together with transit. Also part of their project is to do what they can to redevelop abandoned areas of the city... And to help develop parts of the city where demand is low. Now south to Washburg... Washburg’s current problem is the Highway 32 Southern City Expressway. The expressway is made up of unsafe at-grade intersections Outdated interchanges And all of Hwy. 32 traffic must connect with Hwy. 97 to reach to the other part of the highway. The Ministry can only provide enough money to redo the Highway 63 interchange... And to widen and redo only part of the highway... Washburg cannot provide any more money due to their recent project which was a renovation of the airport... So the expressway will just have to stay partially finished until the city can provide more money. To finish, 2 city pictures of Windermere. Lol just a note, it actually was the first week of school, so I’m not gunna be able to update very often due to high school homework overload but I will post a much as I can as often as possible and I will not abandon this CJ. -dman18

  17. Deck the Halls in Windermere

Well, hello again lol. I was supposed to do an update recently but imageshack wouldn’t let me upload any pictures for some reason. So I’ve been working all day on this update. I decided I’d just do a huge update today. So first to the comments; Schulmanator: thanks Hawkeye9: thanks Manubeas: thanks a lot Haljackey: thanks lol I know every time I install certain buildings they just appear over and over. I’ll try and do that but my plugins folder is a mess so that might be hard lol. O and I got the signs on the STEX. I’ll see if I can find the link. Fabsies55: thanks and true and this city is in northern Canada where there are miles and miles of forest Well I installed about 75 new plugins along with the CAM so we’ll see how they turn out. But back to business. UPDATE 2 & 3 Well I’ve got a bit more information to tell you. Windermere is part of a proposed 51-city metropolitan area called the Windermere Metropolitan Area. With 3 mega-cities, Windermere, Clarington, and Washburg, and 48 towns, municipalities and communities. The proposed metropolitan area has not gone through due to some troubles in the city of Clarington. So currently, the area still goes under the name North Ontario County, since the merger bill has not been passed, but locals seem to be calling the area by the proposed name. Anyways, in this CJ, I’ll mostly be focusing on the 3 mega-cities in the area, Windermere, Washburg (south of Windermere), and Clarington (east of Windermere). I’ll also focus on the cities that connect the 3 mega-cities. I’ll show a little bit on the other towns, but not much. Here are a couple of shots; Town of Cherbourg. Highway 33 Elizabeth Alexandra Way, a Windermere-Washburg Connector. South part of town is part of the Tri-Industrial Towns (3 industrial towns in the area). Town of Newport. A very commercial-centred town which the long Newport Alesa Heights Strip Mall in the northern part of the town. Town of Kleinburg. The right highway is Highway 243 the J.D. Wilson Freeway, one of the oldest highways in Ontario, named after James Dalton Wilson, discoverer of North Ontario. It was the only major road connecting cities Windermere (formally Tilsa) and Clarington (formally Reaf). Town of West Cherbourg. Highway 63 on the right, Windermere-Washburg Connector. Also Highway 63 connects all 3 major cities. Spur Highways 163, 263, 463, and 663 all create bypasses or beltways around major cities and also form to create one major beltway around the proposed metropolitan area. These highways have been built even though the merger bill has not been passed due to over congested local roads and extremely long commute time to major cities. Ashford City. North of Windermere. Most of the town was a thick forest but most of it has been bulldozed now. In the northeast part of town the remaining forest was to be torn down but fierce public opposition has forced the town to postpone their plans. The town folk are looking to the provincial government to step in and stop the town from destroying the forest. The City of Clarington. Once a large beautiful metropolis. Now nothing. Clarington’s old mayor Jim Stura, had brought the city from huge mega-city to slums. He double and tripled taxes, and replaced the skyscrapers with huge polluting factories. Clarington was at its lowest when a horrible ice storm hit the city. By then most of the residents had moved to neighbouring cities due the mayor’s bad choices and when the storm drew near, the remaining were evacuated. The ice storm destroyed the city. Everything was iced over and a fire somewhere had started and spread quickly and reached the nuclear power plant, which soon caused a massive nuclear explosion. Most places in Clarington melted to the ground, and whatever was left had to be removed due to radiation. So now with Clarington’s new mayor, they are trying to rebuild and get back on their feet. Since the city took a $2,900,000 loan from the provincial government, they cannot sign to the bill until half of the loan is paid. Only thing left in Clarington is the airport, Jacques Carter Clarington International Airport which serves neighbouring cities. And to close a map of Windermere Hopefully I’ll be able to put up another update, but don’t count on it since I think my laptop’s a bit pooped and SC4 keeps crashing lol.
  18. Toronto

aww tht sux. it was like one of the only Toronto CJs ive seen.
  19. Sights Across Canada

cool cj lol everythings so windy and realistic.
  20. well im d_man18 and ive wanted to create a CJ for a while now so i guess this is it. Bare with me as i explain some of history of The Greater Camden Area: As the Ministry of Ontario(MTO) began to expand ther lower 400-series highway system to link to the northern cities Sudbury, North Bay, and Thunder Bay, a new project came about. A new central northern city needed to be created because the distance between Timmins and North Bay was too great. So MTO decided to pick the small town of Camden for their project. They contacted Mayor of Camden, Dylan, about it and he said he and the citizens had no problem with their small town expanding. But a new problem arose. According to the standards of the new highway expansion bill that was passed, they needed to have 1 or 2 400-series highways through the new city. No 400-series highways would be goin in that direction and the King's Highways in that area would not be able to handle the traffic. Also had already reached 424 for the highway numbers and didn't want to go much higher so a new idea was proposed. They would create a new highway system for the northern half of the province. They chosed the name Queen's Highways and then began to build up the town of Camden.... Welll thts the history if u even bothered to read it all lol. Well here are some pictures of the neighbourhoods in the City of Camden. this one is of South Camden. i believe thts Hwy. 3 Appleview St. and Hwy. 6 Victorian Blvd intersect beside the Camden University. This is of Baywright...thts H.7 Alcorn Ave, H.9 Clemintine Ave. and H.4 South Queen St. passing by the 2 power plants... This is Downtown Camden....Camden City Hall in the top right at the corner of H.1 Main St. and H.4 Princes Blvd. Fortsworth at River St....sry ignore the sidebarr... And Finally a photo from a passing by plane of Camden Elizabeth International Airport well thts it forr now. I hope tht was a good start. comments are welcomed! -d_man18
  21. well. no luck. turns out my entire vista operating system was corrupted and tht also caused all the files on my hard drive to become corrupt. lol a tip to the entire simtropolis world. always backup ur files lol. so now tht all of my SimCity files are gone, im just gunna start over. but hopefully this time ill build a lot faster since i had to buy 3gb of memory from dell. but i will recreate this CJ after I get all of my mods and buildings back. But that wont be till july since exams are coming up. so until then, Greater Camden Area is closed.
  22. QUICK UPDATE! welll Ive been working on the region for some time now and because of school i havent been unable to update. There are now have 5 new cities that have joined the Metropolitan Government of Camden. Only one problem. My laptop started acting up last night. My entire user profile has become corrupted. All the files are still intact and hopefully none of them are corrupted so i may be able to copy them all to a new user and just play SimCity. cross ur fingers. if it works ill update TOMORROW. -dman
  23. Well im back after a short hiatus of vacation & school work. I'll try to update as much as possible but that may be once or twice a week due to school work and work... REPLYS: greekman: Thanks for the comment. Go Ontario! lol smarty218: thanks DanWalker8: glad you like my building style gabry85: thanks. o i didnt even know i was missing props. haljackey: thanks. ya some of these slopes are kinda temporary or i was trying to save space lol andronicus22: thanks ---UPDATE well this is a fast short update. its late and i got school tmrw lol. I figured i have to update since its March 19th which is Mayor Dylan Day in Camden (also my bday) and also many new things have been opened in Camden on this day. For starters, do to the horrible incurable traffic congestion on all of the roads and highways, Camden has decided to open up a city-wide bus, subway and elevated rail transit system. Also, Camden has opened up their new Camenlow Park around the Nedmac Pond. Here are a few photos: First is one of the newly opened transit stations. This is Airport Station. This is a subway and bus station. This is one of the Baywright Stations. This is where the new Elevated Rail Starts. High-rises like these have been appearing all around the city and the city's highways like Highway 17 on the left and Princess Blvd. and King St. on the right are highly congested. One reason for Camden to put in a transit system. A subway, bus and elevated rail station on the left in Baywright. A picture of the interchange of Highways 2 (Los Alamdo Expry.), 2A (Twin-City Expry.) and The Baywright Expressway. A picture of the Nedmac Pond and Camenlow Park in South Camden. A picture of Camden. Well thts it hopefully ill get to update some time soon. -dman
  24. REPLIES: manticorefan: thanks jacqulina: thanks for the comment simtastico: thanks. lol usually then end up finding some way. edmonton_stinks: thanks gabry85: lol im glad u like my work bbfan02: thanks i hope ill be able to keep u interested. Smarty218: thanks UPDATE: well im updating again after not being able to update all of last week due to schoolwork and other stuff....hopefully ill be able to update in the upcoming week thanks to march break....well anyways there have been some major changes in Camden since the last update. First some pictures of the newly built Hwy. 17 Hanlon Beltway passing thru Baywright. This is the first RHW highway in the city and region. This is a picture of the interchange of Hanlon Beltway and Princess Blvd. (hwy. 10). This is a picture of the interchange of the Hanlon Beltway and King St. (Hwy 4S). This is where the Downtown Bypass Starts and Merges with the Hanlon Beltway and the highways enter the Beacon Tunnel. Also to the side is Camden's new major league stadium due to the population nearing 100,000. This picture shows a completely rebuilt area. The highway going mostly horizontally is the Downtown Bypass extended eastward now going to Fortsworth to link with the Fortsworth Expry. The Left Vertical Highway is Highway 5 and the right one is The Royal Link Expy. Now that this highway has been linked to the Fortsworth Expy. the city decided to name the entire highway the J.C. Hanlon Beltway and also Highway 17 since it forms close to a large circle around most of the city. The Hanlon Beltway includes the following highways: Fortsworth Expry.,Downtown Bypass, (part of) Victorian Expry, (part of) Hwy. 2, and (part of) Airport Rd. Also the Hanlon Beltway has newly built sections where it is the main highway. This last picture is a large new interchange between highways 5,9, and the RCE/4S. On the north side of the interchange you can see Highway 5 spliting from Hwy. 9 and going on the outside of Downtown and hwy. 9 going in Downtown. On the south side you can see Highway 9 spliting from 5 and the Clemintine Bypass ending and turning into a local avenue. Well thats is for now i guess. I may update again later because i may be putting some new things around the city. If not ill update again later this week. - d_man18
