I have watched 2 videos on how to build a rural highway and I still don't get it. I have no problems with the SAM, I can make dirt roads, herringbone, you name it, but I have no idea how to build a rural highway. I lay down the starter piece and then I am supposed to drag something. Drag what exactly? the starter piece? Please, can anyone explain how to build rural highways? I am stupid, so please be extremely basic. Thanks.

I've been experimenting with different configurations for my rail lines and I was wondering how the rest of you set up your rail networks. Do you use one dedicated line for industry and one for passengers? would you have one terminal for each city? I guess what I really want to know is if it is a good idea to have separate rail lines for city and industry.

I found the Sim City 4 Prima guide on Amazon for $7! does anyone have it? is it helpful at all? I was thinking about buying it but wondered if anyone has it before I do.

The only thing wrong with it is it should have been done like the SimCity 2000 guide by Nick Dargahl and Michael Bremer. Now that was a strategy guide. It was like a novel.

Was going to mention the same thing when I read the OP's first comment. If you've been playing SC4 for some time, is reading thru the guide really worth it? Or will it be a bit redundant to what I probably know by now? A lot of it is redundant, but I like having the building stats handy and there are some useful data tables.

I downloaded the pdf and am finding it very helpful.

That's not true, I have bought dozens of CDs from Amazon and they were all legal copies. I know this because a few of my Sims 3 CDs came from Amazon, and if you have an illegal copy of any of those games, the parent site will not let you update your game.

In an effort to streamline transportation in and out of my cities, I have started using a combination of trains, subways and highways. I'm not having any problems with the highways or the subways, but I have a few questions about trains. 1. I am using the NAM, and when I query any-and I mean any- of my train stations, it says usage is at zero, yet I see the train coming and going all the time. Why? does the train just automatically appear if you have a train station or is someone actually using it? I have the latest version of the NAM, so I am confused as to why the query would be wrong. I don't have any custom train stations or custom trains (yet). 2. I use trains to route freight, even through my smaller cities. Is it a good idea to give them a passenger station as well, in order to travel to an adjoining city? or will they be fine using the subway or highway? for a city with a population of under 5000, is one central train station (with a parking garage or a subway transfer) enough? 3. I have been using parking garages next to my mass transit, in order to keep the neighborhoods looking neat (I would rather not have bus stations and subway stops everywhere). How many should I have? should I have a parking garage next to every subway/bus station? 4. Will Sims use the passenger train within the city, or do they only use it to travel to adjoining cities? I am wondering if I should just route the trains to adjoining cities and not bother with routing it within the parent city. 5. For large cities (population over 50,000) what is the best way to move people? subway? train? elevated rail?

I like the way they talk, but this could be because I have been playing some variety of the Sims for the last 13 years. It's addictive.

In my opinion, RTMT is a much more important tool than the RHW, so I think you have your priorities upside down. I don't use the RHW (it's mostly a cosmetic mod, and beauty is in the eye of the beholder), but I certainly don't want to play without RTMT. I will give it a try, do you have a link for it? is it hard to use?

I read it and I still don't understand how to use this mod. It may as well be written in a language I do not speak. It doesn't tell me how I am supposed to lay road tiles, and it says they are draggable. They are not. It isn't anything like the SAM, which I love and use all the time.

I'm not6 downloading anything new until I can figure out how to use the Real Highway Mod contained within the NAM. I can't find any helpful tutorials and no one will tell me how to use it.Is it a secret? I would love to know how to use it. I am stupid and need a lot of help with it.
