  1. I have made some buildings historical in the game I'm playing, but they seem to change. Is there any trick to make sure buildiings designated historical remain unchanged? Is there a limit to the number of historical buildings? Thanks for any help.
  2. Fein Bros.

Thanks for this and thanks for taking the time to make Dark Nite.
  3. Thanks A Nonny Moose, I didn't have the -d:directx in the command line. I added that to the command line and the picture seems sharper. I have a 1920x1200 monitor, but was trying different resolutions to get rid of the blue stripe at the bottom of cities in region view. The only one that seems to get rid of it for me is 1280x1024, but I think I'll use 1920 and live with the stripe. I would like to show my appreciation for the help I have recieved by sending a donation to Simtropolis. When my last PC died and I got Windows 7 64 bit I thought that was it for me and Sim City 4. I got the new Sim City and it really doesn't work for me, but I did get a strong urge to play Sim City again. I found some of the threads in here and am now running Sim City 4 again. I am really thankful that 9 years later this site is still here and people on the forums are still helping others out. Thanks again....off to figure out which patches..... Just sent a donation via pay pal, but the reciept that showed up in my e-mail didn't say I donated to Simtropolis, but that I made a payment to a person. There was no place to decline a CD, etc.
  4. Thanks Crom. I have the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 card. I think it would have the same string as what you posted. Don't have much of a city built yet and am having trouble using all of my 24" moniter, but so far graphics are looking great. Hope the game runs smooth.
  5. Installing region (graphical issue)

Sorry, should have said that when I went back up to higher resolution and stripes were back, I was at 1920x1080. 1280x1024 seems to fix the problem, so if I have to play at that resolution for the region to look right, is there a way to make it windowed instead of full screen. Right now I have typed in: -CustomResoltion:enabled -r1280x1024x32 -f -CPUcount:1
  6. Installing region (graphical issue)

Thanks, fix worked and the stripe was removed. But, when I went back up to higher resolution, played, saved, and returned to region, the stripe was back. Is there a maximum resolution to play at where the stripe doesn't come back?
  7. I wanted to try this but it says the file is read only and won't allow me to save any changes. Figured out a way to save the changes. Thanks, used Crom's lines, hope to see a difference.
  8. I like it!

Yes the game can be enjoying in a different way than Sim City 4. I remember the launch of SC4 bugs and all. The modding community made that game, otherwise it would have died long ago. The OP wrote: "Trust me, I could write an entire page about it's short comings (park trails not lining up, imperfect routing, tile size, random inconsistences, rampant fires, health care, meteor shower after 3 hours???, etc). Could this game have been more after waiting for 10 years? Absolutely, but it's still better than no SimCity." The most troubling thing about Sim City (13) is the misinformation. There are sites saying that the game can be played offline and that the only reason for the online play is to deter piracy. In one blog from Lucy Bradshaw she says they are looking into offline mode and then later in the blog she says the simulation is tied to the servers and offline mode is impossible. No offline mode troubles me because all the saves are done on the "cloud". If they were to ever allow mods, bigger city tiles, etc, I think it would make for bigger save files, which would put more stress on the servers. I also wonder if EA backs up the servers. If one were to crash would thousands of regions go with it? I'm not computer smart so if I am wrong about these concerns, sorry for bringing them up. If Ms. Bradshaw isn't misinforming us and the servers are used to help run the game, then again, bigger city tiles and mods? In a way I'm glad that this has been the worst launch in history, so maybe DRM won't become the industry standard. I just wish they would have used a franchise I didn't like so much to try it out on.
  9. Pearl Harbor and the Japanese Mini-subs

According to The Library of Congress' World War II, "It was a nearly textbook-perfect attack, but it was not without errors or, for the Amercians, a bit of good luck. Five miniature Japanese submarines, launched from five of the sixteen submarines lurking outside Pearl Harbor, were to sink any warships the aircraft missed. Only two minisubs got into the harbor, and all five sank or were captured" It does not say if the two that got into the harbor did any damage but 18 American warships were sunk/heavily damaged. I bet you can tell that I wish I got the Military Channel.
