  1. Glassbox perfect for Tropico

Huge but not impossible apparently. I did see an old forum thread on Kalypso forum about someone being able to break the population cap and exceed 10K. He even had pictures to prove it. Though it was most probably a glitch or something. Back then, the population cap was 1250 but I think they increased it to 1500, which is ridiculous considering they greatly increased the map size.
  2. The My Little Pony Association of Simtropolis (MLPA)

Sadly, this is how I think Maxis did and it seems fitting .
  3. Glassbox perfect for Tropico

I was almost gonna agree, but then you mention that Tropicans do travel off-road. And I'm like oh yeah, the agents in Glass Box only travel on road. However, Kalypso media can learn something from this. If Simcity is able to get hundreds of thousands of people in a tiny cramped excuse for a city tile, it should be no excuse for them to still limit the population cap on a hypothetical future Tropico game. I mean a city of even just 10,000 would actually be cool. And the inter-region play would just be flatout amazing. Trading between islands would be a welcome addition. They still need to add more variety to their buildings though.
  4. It says you need a White House account. And don't you need to be an American citizen since this is the US gov't and all?
  5. The My Little Pony Association of Simtropolis (MLPA)

So how was the SimCity launch? EA:
  6. I live in Asia, so this is rather bummer news. But at least I'm informed, and knowing this piece of information now, I think I'll postpone buying this game indefinitely. By the way, piracy was how I was introduced to this game. I loved SimCity 4 back then, I bought a legitimate copy anyway.
  7. SimCity city sizes will “eventually” expand, says Maxis

i don't get it. all this time, they waited for 10 long years because our PCs weren't powerful enough. now that they are more than powerful enough, they want to cater to lower end PCs? and my dad's PC has a 2nd gen core-i5 as of two years ago. it's not up there but it's not low-end either. just sayin'.
  8. Come Visit Donut Atoll!

woah. that could actually work. amazing concept.     That, believe it or not, is a coral reef.
  9. Is anyone else thinking this?

I'd rather wait and see here. I'm sure some people played Battlefield 3 here and I'm sure people are aware of the Battlefield 3 premium edition where the vanilla game comes with the expansion (and future expansions). Also, an older example is SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition. I'm not saying that this is always the case (Sims 3), but there are cases when EA either brings down the price significantly in less than a year or so, or add the upcoming expansions with the same price tag.
  10. Share Your Cities

you know, the video capture seems very useful. you don't see many developers making those. they probably just assume you download fraps or afterburner, but this is quite hassle-free.
  11. SimCity As A Learning Tool?

okay kids. write the solution to your math homework using the curved road tool. you get extra credit if you are able to write your solution with the given amount of simoleons . Kidding aside. I think this is a good idea to make school exciting for kids. While not exactly as realistic as we'd hoped, it's ideal for primary school. And we know how critical primary school is to children's development.
  12. How I Mayor: Stadium Success

all the criticisms of the game aside, I like how the update feels like a city journal. some of the buildings seem eye-catching. the stadium looks more like a convention center though. on another note, i consider how the game conceals dead-space between buildings to be quite clever. it looks much better as of late.
  13. SimCity (2013) Beta confirmed for Jan 25-28th

So you download the beta for possibly hours and hours and the city you make only lasts an hour? I don't get it.
  14. Lucy Bradshaw responds to Reddit controversy

global leaderboards and weekly challenges? this sounds awfully reminiscent of Microsoft Flight, the supposed successor of the FS franchise, which apparently, is no longer supported by MS only after almost 6 months of its existence. I'm not sure if people are interested in leaderboards unless it was an FPS game. I mean Tropico 4 had a leaderboard and I really don't pay attention to it because it's not very important. So what, there is a best way to make a city, but I thought there are many approaches to make a city. In regards to weekly challenges, heck, even I don't care about MW3's daily and weekly challenges. The only challenges that I would like to do are the ones I set for myself.
  15. Maxis releases Gameplay Video

And Tropico is a great game =). Perhaps the only thing I'm annoyed with, especially in Tropico 4, is the facebook and twitter integration (Something I hope will never be implemented in a game the likes of SimCity).
  16. EA boss proudly refuses to publish single-player games

Evolved with consumers but definitely not understanding them. I don't know why, but I think we entered the dark ages of gaming when Call of Duty started making yearly billion dollar profits. Coupled with social gaming, app games, consoles, tablets and DRMs, everything has gone downhill with respect to PC gaming.
  17. PAX

I'm looking forward for the beta. I signed up for it .
  18. European Evolution: Creating International Cities

this is really wonderful. the game is finally coming to.
  19. Sim city 2013 will support mods. just not at launch

unbelievable. an article dated back in March. Seriously, it's like some people forgot that SimCity 4 launched without mods.
  20. Simcity 5 , I Need info.

perhaps disasters will be random. that's the only way i can see disasters being unleashed. other than that, i doubt anyone will intentionally bring upon disaster to their own city.
  21. Cool Looking City: Residential Robot

i dunno. i think we need a close up shot though. it may look curvy afar, but it may not be so from near. i have to admit though, the detail seems crisp enough to see that the curves are indeed very smooth, a great improvement from previous screencaps.
  22. Simcity 2013: Community Interviews: Part 2

I believe SimCity will be a success. More successful than Societies, but less successful than SimCity 4. Honestly, this interview reminds me of Windows 8 for some reason, doesn't it? Honestly, maybe SimCity will have an expansion pack and maybe they will release these features that should've been there in this pack. One thing for sure, especially with the information just given to us, I don't think I will purchase the game on day one and I will probably hold off for a year maybe. I'll stay tuned to news of this game. There's still so much potential to this game.
  23. Well that explains why IE is a little screwy lately. I'm going to Chrome for now.
  24. What games would you like to see have sequels?

    1. World in Conflict 2. Simcity 4 of course =)
