cammo2003: i made the map in photoshop, and tweaked it in SC4TF... and i myself use the colombus terrain, and it does look very nice. The slopes aren't too steep, so theres lots of scope for building, and there are valleys, rivers (which can be extended with PEG's streams) and low-lying plains. Let me know if you use it for your CJ, i would be honoured!

The Isle/Island of Sodor. Some may recognise the name, others may not. But if you're serious about having lots of railway lines in your cities, then you should know about this place. This is the fictional island featured in the classic chidren's TV series 'Thomas the Tank Engine'. Although fictional, according to various maps of the island which can be found on the internet (try searching wikipedia), the island spans the width of the Irish Sea between England and the Isle of Man. The map is accurate, but at about half scale. Nevertheless, it is still massive, weighing in at 13x10 large cities. Thats 130 in all, so this is for those who like it big. The file is an SC4M file, to be used with the excellent SimCity 4 Terraforming modd designed and built by wouanagaine. and can be found here: https://www.simtropolis.com/modding/index.cfm?p=details&id=391 The support thread can be found here: https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=40&threadid=79100&STARTPAGE=1&FTVAR_FORUMVIEWTMP=Linear To get this map up and running: 1 - download the config and .SC4M file. 2 - Create a new folder in your SimCity 4\Regions folder, and name it 'Sodor' or something along those lines 3 - Open SimCity 4 Terraformer, and choose the newly named folder 4 - From the Global Tools menu on the left, choose 'Import Image' and browse for the .SC4M file 5 - Once it has loaded, you can then make any changes if you so wish. 6 - Choose File, then Save. SC4 Terraformer will then export out the file as individual cities 7 - Open up SimCity 4, and open the Sodor region folder. The map will appear in the vivid colours of the Terraformer program until you open up a city and save it. Enjoy! -

Ahh, gives me fond memories of the Blackwall tunnel, linking the north and south banks of the Thames via the M25. I guess this is an answer to underwater tunnels that so many have been wishing for so much? -
It's not so much the fact that the orbit is elliptical as the reason for the demotion, it's the fact that Pluto has not cleared the 'neighbourhood' around its orbit. Pluto's orbit, at its furthest from the sun, takes it inside the Kupier belt, which is a ring of asteroids encircling the 8 planets. Had Pluto have been large enough, it's gravatational pull would have either 'sucked in' or 'thrown out' the asteroids around it, clearing its orbit. The same goes for Ceres. Ceres is esentially the largest asteroid in the asteroid belt that sits between Mars and Jupiter, but the fact that it has enough gravity to pull itself into a sphere puts it in the running for being classed as a planet. The reason why it's only been classed as a dwarf planet is the same as Pluto's, it's surrounded by thousands of other asteroids, and has therefore not cleared its orbit

This is not an accurate representation of Britain, yet more of a characture of the island, with accentuated features such as hills, valleys, rivers, lakes and coastline that make more fun for SimCity play that an accurate map would. This map is very loosely based on, and highly influenced by frogface's excellent Thames city journal map. The config file is all large cities, but can be easily changed to suit your needs. I'm sure you know the score. Please rate if you download (or not), and Enjoy! -

Junction 23 of the M25, north of London, Where the London Orbital motorway meets the A1(M) at South Mimms, whats know as 'Bignell's Corner' The white squiggly bit is the roads around the services, one of only 2 service stations on the M25 -
Hi frogface. I must say this CJ has had me changing my pants on several occasions. Living in the Home Counties, just north of London, viewing this city journal has filled me with joy. 100% of your region is recognisable and familiar. This is always how i wanted Simcity to look, and you've managed it. I now myself have downloaded the mod that pushes all the default maxis buildings into one style to allow for only downloaded ones to appear, and am currently filling up my plugins folder with all the British and European style bulidings i can find. You have inspired me. A question though, Your region is so real-looking... does it actually work in-game? Are you in the black on all your cities? I'm guessing most of your sims work on the ample farms in the region, with the rest working in the few commertial and industrial areas, and that the taxes pay for all the railway maintanence. I'm just wondeirng if it's possible to make a region that looks so good function properly, with regards to traffic, crime, commute time, etc, or is it all purely for show? Keep up the work on the best City Journal I've ever seen.
