  1. Kip Katsarelis welcomes players back to the game

I´ll be back when/if the city size gets bigger. I just get bored to fast as the game is now.
  2. Discussion about City Tile Size

Bought the game, tried it but stopped playing because of all the bugs and small maps, was waiting for them to fix these problems. Atleast I don´t have to spend any money on any dlc now since there are just not enough room to even place all stuff that´s in the original box.
  3. SimCity Raise/Lower Tool Preview

Feels like I paid 70 euro to be able to betatest this game for half a year. But with some bigger maps, traffic fixes and maybe be able to save locally (test things with the ability to go back if it did not work as you planned and having some fun with disasters) I think I would really like this game.
  4. Really good news. Looking forward to try the game after this update.
  5. Is this game worth buying?

It works out pretty good in the beginning but as your city gets bigger the problems and bugs keeps coming. For me it´s unplayable after a while. Even if the bethesda games were full of bugs they was atleast to me playable enough to keep playing, SC2013 i just play for a while and give up and try it again after next patch to see if something changed to the better. I would also buy more dlc like the theme park set and more if i had any room left in my city to place it. I´m not a fan of having to look for what to destroy to be able to place new stuff. It´s tragic that it ain´t working better after so many patches.
  6. Incorrecte Aanmeldingsinformatie

Could not log in either and found on ea´s homepage that they had problems with origin so that you could not be able to log in / play.
  7. Tried to play some today but got an error message and could not start the game. Searched and found this on sim city´s homepage "We are aware of an issue currently preventing you from logging into origin." It sucks when even singleplayer games these days needs connection to servers to work.
  8. Had the same problem yesterday. If you can´t access orgin and the SC servers you won´t be able to play. If you loose access to the servers during play you should be able to play a short period (probobly a few minutes)
  9. SimCity Update 5 + Mac Delay

So if this update that is out in a couple of weeks is about multiplayer and update 6.0 is gonna be about RCI can we hope for major traffic fixes in update 7.0? Maybe it´s because I only play singleplayer but I got disappointed in this update (if it´s not fixing alot of stuff not mentioned).
  10. Discussion about City Tile Size

I would guess he is talking more about size of the city region and not so much about population. Try to build something like manhattan, London or anything like that, theres just no space for it. Sure youre city has a high population but it dosent look anything near a real city wich spreads out alot and is more than a compact area of highrises. And for population most countrys have atleast one city with over a million in population, thats something thats probobly nearly impossible to build in Sim City 2013. Trying to get a population like tokyo or many other big citys is just not possible. Not saying that building bigger and larger is always better but we should have had the option to build bigger than the current tiles. If they could not make that possible because of bugs and server they should have waited to release the game imo. I can understand why some call this sim town.
  11. Have not tested with the latest patches but earlier the power you export to other cities gets diveded between all cities in your region (even the ones not played/started). So if you only want to send power to one city then youre only gonna be able to send a fraction of available power to that city. Seemed to work the same way with garbage etc to.
  12. Population panel bug?!

Happend to me to once. Just like tnemelkfoo i could see where the mouse was by watching icons chance color when moving the mouse around so managed to exit and start the game again and then i could see the mouse icon again.
  13. Not sure if it´s the same problem but I got problem with power and because of that the sewage stopped working. Guess the sewage workers got tired because they did not seem to come back to work and the city went downhill from there.
  14. Discussion about City Tile Size

When releasing dlc with stuff that seems to take up pretty much space it would be fun if we could make some bigger citys. I am having big problems already with lack of space when I unlock buildings and upgrades. Would have hoped they fix some bugs and release bigger maps/citys before all the dlc like theme parks etc.
  15. Read about the game before it came out and there was alot that i did not like. One thing was "the always online" since i sometimes play SC4 where I had no connection to internet. Did not buy it at first and when i read about the server issues and all the bugs I was happy that I waited. Did follow when they put all the updates out and eventually did buy the game since I thought most of the things would be fixed. Never had an issue with the servers but when playing the bugs and issues was just to much so stopped playing and have not been playing for a couple of weeks now hoping that a few more updates would make the game more playable. Things that really made this game hard to play for me. *Region play where you help other citys out with power, garbage, water etc. Had one city with serveral garbage trucks but was only allowed to send 1 to my neighbour city that needed alot more than one. Seems the game looks at how many cites are in your region (even if they have no population/buildings) and split so you have to distribute the garbage trucks evenly. So if you have 6 citys and 6 garbage trucks its impossible to send 2 or more garbage trucks to one city. *All the fire trucks going to the same place even if there is more fires in the city. *Can´t go back to a save if you screw up. I was looking where to place the university and mistakenly plopped it when serching for a good place. It not only got placed where I did not want it to be placed, it destroyed some other buildings that was there before that I did not want to destroy. Since I did not have that much money at the moment and since it was an expensive building I started a new city. Wished I could just go back to a save... *Can´t play the game everywhere I want like I did with SC4. *Citys to small to make many realistic bigger citys. I Also feel that when you going to place building you have to think about what in the city to destroy to make place for that building. Youre just going out of room to easily. However i hope they fixed the bugs and issues with the game before they expand the city tiles. *The road entering the city tile is almost always having trouble with to much traffic and I can´t build any other roads in or out of the city to distribute the traffic. *Make disasters optional. Yes I know you could play in another mode but I don´t find it fun to start with so much money and everything unlocked so don´t want to play that way. I hope to be able to enjoy the game soon and will wait a few weeks more hoping on more updates before giving it a try again.
  16. Have a map where I built one city that now has around 16000 in population. I did not want to have garbage sites, power etc in the this city so built a second one with powerplant and garbage sites that helps the first city. Worked out fine until now when i need to send more garbagetrucks to the first/biggest city in the region because the sims is starting to complain. I have 6 garbagetrucks in total but I can only send one to the first city. The city with the garbage site has power and is populated and the garbage site does not search for workers, The city that has the garbage site has a population of 1800 so it should not need the other 5 trucks for themselves. The first city has some money and is going plus every hour so so it should not have anything to do with not being able to pay for garbage support. Is this a bug or is it just me doing something wrong.
  17. My problem is that I can´t "assign" more trucks to my big city, they do drive around in the small city where the garbage site is and collecting without much problem with traffic. I can see the one truck in the big city too but can´t find any way to get more trucks over there.
  18. Am I correct that they have turned off city/region trading to make it go smoother ? In that case it´s only drm that kept them from doing a singleplayer offline mode.
  19. Was looking forward to the new Sim City until i heard of the "always online to play/save" . That sounds like renting the game to me. In the summers i visit my parents at their summerhouse and they do not have an internet connection there so i can forget to play the game this summer. Maybe buy it alot later when the price have dropped and see how they handle problems like always online / small tiles etc.
  20. 1st official trailer

Looking good, will definitly check this game out when it arrives.
  21. Nice of them to fly you over and show the game and thank them for coming over and answering questions here at simtropolis. Might not be the most popular question for them now but would be interesting to know whats the chance for a new more sc4 like game would be.
  22. Today a strange thing happend. I got one big city (biggest region size) with 500000 people in it. It is a combined residental/commercial city. Next to it on the right side I have 2 industrial regions (medium size). There was a big need for more industry and since the 2 regions I had was packed i choose to start 2 new industrial regions. I placed them over and under the existing industrial regions. These two new regions is not directly connected to the residential city (except the corners touching eachother). So you have to drive a small bit through one region to get to the new ones but I have done this before so wasen´t expecting any problems. Once I started the new regions about 11000 and 7000 (total 18000 )jobs got added until the demand was down again. Now I returned to the residential region and started it, expecting it to grow a little with 18000 new jobs pretty closeby (especially since no other residential region is connected to these industrial jobs). What happend was that the population started dropping and went down 70000 to around 430000. When I started to search for a reason to why this happend I found that the commute times had hit the sky. I can understand that the way to these new jobs are longer but all the jobs when the region was at 500k is still there so can´t understand why the people move out due to commute times (as it seems). Sorry for no picture bit this is how the city is planned so far (with the 4 R as one region, R = residential and commercial region, I = industrial region) I RRI RRI I So it can actually be harmful to add more jobs if they are not very close? Have any other experienced these problems? Seems it calculates commute times pretty odd. Have SC4 Deluxe with NAM installed with (10* commute 10* ... dont remeber all settings).
  23. Strange problem

I have no problem with them working there, built them because the demand was up and the existing started regions had no more place to build on. So thought it would have a posetive effect even if it was longer to those new jobs. The directly connected regions left I had planned to built either commercial or residential citys but might have to rethink that now.
  24. Strange problem

"The problem is that the Sims have to cross two city boundaries to get to work" To the new works yes, but there should still be enough work for 500000 without those 2 new regions thats what confuses me. It dropped 70k in population when 18000 works were added, and even with longer way to those jobs theres still plenty of all kinds of jobs with demand up closer. Its not like i removed industrial or commercial closer to the city.
