The NAM Retexture and Cosmetic Mod replaces most of the default Maxis roadway intersection textures. Among the changes and options available, you'll find smooth corners at intersections, Cul-de-sacs for Street, Road, and SAM (Street Addon Mod) Asphalt Streets, correct geometry for orthogonal to diagonal draggable curve, improvements to Road, One-Way Road, Street and Avenue networks, and much, much more! This is the North American Version of the NAM Retexture and Cosmetic Mod. It is highly recommended you have the latest version of the NAM installed to take full advantage of this mod. Network Addon Mod-MacOS The latest version of the Street Addon Mod is required to take advantage of the SAM Set 7 Asphalt Street retextures. Street Addon Mod-MacOS This is the MacOS version. A Windows installer version is also available.
  2. The NAM Team is pleased to announce the release of Version 29 of the Network Addon Mod! Here's a look at what's new: New Underground Rail puzzle pieces have been added. RealHighway Mod Version 4.1.0 Numerous improvements to the Neighbor Connector pieces, including the elimination of the unnecessary arrows and the "Eastside" placement issues on multi-tile Neighbor Connectors. IMPORTANT! As the fix for the "Eastside" issue required reorienting the puzzle piece, you will need to rebuild any and all RHW-6C, RHW-8S or RHW-10 Neighbor Connections. Several pathing issues fixed. Textures reprocessed to improve quality, particularly for Zoom 3. Wealth-level issues fixed on several ramp interfaces. Numerous improvements to FLEXFly system, including increased stability and one additional piece (all found under the RHW Curves TAB Loop) Sharp 90-degree draggable curve added to EMIS network. New Curved Ground-to-Elevated MIS Transition pieces added. The RHW-6S now has a higher capacity than the RHW-4. The Elevated RHW-4 and MIS networks now have draggable orthogonal-orthogonal crossings over RHW-6S, RHW-6C, RHW-8S and RHW-10. Universal Lot Editor Textures and Path Files added to support third-party RHW-related Lots. Network Widening Mod Version 1.1.0 The TLA-3, TLA-5, ARD-3, MAVE-6, OWR-3, OWR-4 and OWR-5 networks have all had their capacity increased. Fixes to RULs and path files. Overhanging "bite" added to Orthogonal-Diagonal transition for TLA-3, AVE-2 and ARD-3 networks. This download contains traffic simulators available in versions of the NAM immediately previous to the May 2010 release, along with their associated NAM Data Views. These traffic simulators and data views must be used instead of, and not in addition to, those supplied with the current NAM. The included traffic simulators were removed from the general NAM distribution as of May 2010; highly compatible emulations of these simulators based on the NAM Unified Traffic Simulator can be created using the Traffic Simulator Configuration Tool, which is included in the current NAM, as well as in the NAM Traffic Subsystem download. However, for people who want the exact traffic simulators that existed in previous versions of the NAM, this download exists.
  5. Hello all, the NAM Team is proud to annouce the June 2009 release of the NAM. The NAM Team members have been working hard to add new features, extend the current ones, and fix various bugs as well. What's new? Canal Addon Mod (CAN-AM) plugin has been added. GLR-in-Street puzzle pieces plugin has been added. Wide Radius Curve plugin for streets has been added. New FAR intersections have been added. New GLR-in-Avenue puzzle pieces have been added. New GLR-in-Road puzzle pieces have been added, including modular GLR-in-Road roundabout. New FLUP pieces have been added, such as Avenue and OneWayRoad ramps and underground intersections. All GLR puzzle pieces have been modified to minimize the "crash to desktop" bug. Two new Underground Rail puzzle pieces have been added. New Ground Highway Y Interchange has been added. New Data View plugins for improved traffic map have been included. Traffic Plugins have been updated. There are now separate NAM Controller files for RHD and LHD versions of the game. Some RUL, texture and pathing errors have been fixed. Please note! As usual, there have been some changes in the file layout; this time, you have to take extra care of the NAM Controller installation. Since there are a few puzzle pieces that need different RULs for LHD versions of the game (i. e. UK and Japanese version), there is a special LHD NAM Controller included. In the installer, the first option in the list of components is a selection between RHD and LHD controller. The LHD option also installs the Left_Hand_Version_Plugin, which is still mandatory. Please make sure that you delete the old NAM Controller (NetworkAddonMod_Controller.dat) from your NAM installation folder! This can be done by either uninstalling the old NAM first, or by using the included Cleanitol file. NAM Essentials The current NAM Essentials have the same files that are included in the June 2009 NAM, so you don't need to download them. If we find some RUL bugs over the next few days, or if optional NAM plugins will be released/updated, we'll update the NAM Essentials as well. Like in the NAM Installer, there's also a new option to select between RHD and LHD controller. We also created a special file called "NAM Controller Version Marker", which will add an icon to your highway menu (with the NAM Logo on it), and if you hover your cursor over the icon, it will display the version number of the NAM Controller. If it displays an error message, you should check your NAM installation. The error message is not completely fool-proof, since it can't detect any instances of older NAM Controllers that are loaded after the NAM, but if you follow the troubleshooting guide in the NAM "ReadMe first" document and add some "z" in front of the NAM installation folder name, so it will load last, you should be able to override most older controllers that might be hidden in your plugins folder. We also decided to include both an installer for Windows users and the individual DAT files for Mac users, this should solve the issue for those who were not able to "juice" the previous installer properly. The CAN-AM In the NAM installer, you can select between two canal styles (SimGoober's and Callagrafx'). Since the NAM doesn't contain any lots, the ferry terminals for the canal puzzle pieces will be released separately by the BSC. The release will be very soon, but at the moment, only lots for SimGoober's canals have been made. So for the time being, select "SimGoober's canals", if you want to use the CAN-AM. New Data View Mods This NAM version includes modified Traffic Volume Data View Mods for all Traffic Plugins. The proper Data View Mod will be installed when selecting a Traffic Plugin. There's also an optional Zone Data View Mod included which makes it easier to build and query your mass transit stations. The mods were provided by z, for more information, please refer to the included readme file, or the support threads that z created. FLUPs and T-RAM Chrisim has updated the initial postings of the FLUP and T-RAM threads, so you should read those again for getting the latest information about those NAM plugins. Both items got updated with additional puzzle pieces for even more flexibility. And now, have fun with the new NAM! 6. Network Addon Mod June 2009 Release

Update notice The NAM Team was busy to fix the bugs and issues that were reported over the last few weeks. Naturally, a mod that is as large as the NAM might bear some bugs all the time, but we'll try our best to fix them all. This time, we have created a NAM Update installer that only contains the files that have been changed. It's about 30% of the size of the full version, so that should ensure a faster download, and also less load for the STEX server. What's new? Some pathing errors for the Ground Highway Y Interchange and the gentle Ground Highway Curve have been fixed. GLR plugin has been fixed. OneWayRoad Arrow Reduction plugins have been fixed. CAN-AM plugin has been modified slightly. Some Rail texture bugs have been fixed, SFBT Darker Rail Texture plugin has been updated. NAM Controller has been updated, NAM Controller error messages in various languages have been added. NAM documentation has been updated. Download Download NAM Update for Windows (Installer) Download NAM Update for Mac (ZIP file) Update Instructions Do not uninstall the current NAM! You need the June 2009 version as a base, so if you don't have that one yet, get it first. Windows users: Simply run the installer and select all components that you have installed already. The installer will overwrite the old files. Mac users: Extract the ZIP file and replace the old files with the new versions
  7. Network Addon Mod June 2009 Release

On another note, we've reactivated the old NAM Update versions. Those are intended for players who already have the previous NAM version (the March 2009 version in this case) and don't want to download the full package because of the size. The update is about 50% of the size of the full version. We intend to make better use of the updates in future, this means we might be able to release new NAM updates every month or two, depending on the development progress. Future updates should be even smaller this way, so you don't need to download a 15+ MB package all the time. NAM Update (Windows) NAM Update (Mac)
  8. Rumors have been spread over the last few days, and the NAM Team was working diligently behind the scenes to get the next NAM version ready for release. This is the first time that we are releasing a NAM Update, rather than a new full version. The June 2007 NAM was the first that has been made modular, so only updated components need to be replaced by this update. Please note that you need the June 2007 NAM version as a dependency for this update, otherwise some items will not work properly. Before your run off in excitement and install the new NAM version, please make sure to read the included readme first and then take action, otherwise some things might go wrong What's new? - Elevated (heavy) Rail puzzle pieces completely revamped, three different texture styles available, some new pieces added. - Underground Rail puzzle pieces with Ped Malls have been added. - Increased connectivity for Avenue Roundabout and Avenue Roundabout with Elevated Highway overpass puzzle piece have been added. - Smooth Avenue Curve puzzle pieces have been added. - Reworked textures for smooth Road and Rail Curves. - Raised Avenue Bridge has been added. - RHW (Rural Highway mod, released as individual plugin) is now independent of ANT tool. - NAM Controller contains RULs for updated - RHW (Rural Highway mod) and SAM (Street Addon Mod) plugins (released separately). Dependencies: Network Addon Mod June 2007 version Here are a few impressions: Download here! Also released was a new Additional Bridge, the Garabit Viaduct by paulvmontfort The Garabit Viaduct (Viaduc de Garabit in French) is a railroad arch bridge spanning the Truyère river near Ruynes-en-Margeride, in the mountainous Massif Central region. The bridge was constructed between 1880 and 1884 by Gustave Eiffel, with structural engineering by Maurice Koechlin, and was opened in 1885. It is 565 m in length and has a principal arch of 165 m. For using the Garabit Viaduct in the game, you either need the NAM Update or the updated NAM Essentials. Download here! More NAM releases will follow soon - stay tuned, and a Happy New Year 2008!
  9. No, this is not an April fools that arrived a bit late, but the Network Addon Mod is celebrating its 4th birthday today! The NAM Team has been working hard over the last few weeks, and we were able to compile a new version of the largest and most popular mods for SimCity 4. It includes some exciting new stuff, as well as updates of popular items, lots of visual improvements and countless bugfixes (for a complete list, see below). As usual, please read the included readme file first, otherwise, things might go wrong. It is highly advised to uninstall your current NAM version, since lots of things have changed. For this, you can either use the uninstall feature, or the included BSC Cleanitol file. Here's a list of changes: Double-height Elevated Rail and Monorail puzzle pieces have been added. GLR bridge has been added. New GLR-in-Avenue puzzle pieces have been added, including Avenue Roundabout with GLR crossing. New Rail Viaduct puzzle pieces have been added. Diagonal Highway on-slope puzzle pieces have been added, existing on-slope puzzle pieces have been revamped to eliminate shadow bug. All overpasses have been modified to eliminate the color shift of the network that crosses under another (both Maxis and custom overpasses). Elevated Rail to GLR transition has been improved visually. Double-decker puzzle pieces have been improved visually. Elevated Rail and Monorail over Elevated Highway overpasses have been improved visually. Various other overpasses and puzzle pieces have been improved visually. Diagonal Highway shift by one tile is now possible. Oneway-Road arrow removal plugin has been updated. Custom Menu plugins have been added to reorder icons in Rail and Misc Transportation menu. A new set of Traffic Simulator (Traffic Plugin) files have been added, outdated Traffic Plugin files have been removed. A variety of RUL, texture and pathing errors have been fixed. NAM Controller contains RULs for updated RHW (Rural Highway mod), updated SAM (Street Addon Mod) and new HSR (High Speed Rail) plugins (released separately). Note: Due to the size, the NAM Team cannot upload the new NAM to the STEX - Dirk has been provided with the files and will update the download at the "Modds & Downloads" section as soon as possible. 10. Network Addon Mod January 2008 Update

Update Notice Unfortunately, the wrong Garabit Viaduct model got uploaded. The version on the STEX is being updated right now and should be available within the next few minutes. Also included is a small path fix. To update your files, simply download and run the new installer, overwriting your old files. It might be necessary to bulldoze any old Garabit Viaduct bridges first. Sorry for the inconvenience.

With the introduction of the draggable GLR tracks, the transit enabling of the current GLR stations has to be changed. Rather than a specialized setup, they have to be transit enabled as regular elevated rail stations. Therefore, the NAM team has created patches for (nearly) all existing GLR stations. It's not necessary to bulldoze existing stations (or existing GLR puzzle pieces), the changes will only apply to stations that are being plopped onto draggable GLR. In addition, the "capacity bug" that affects the passenger capacity on Mac versions of the game has been fixed, where applicable. No other changes were made; please contact the original creators of the stations if you have a problem with a station that is not related to the capability of plopping it onto draggable GLR tracks. The NAM Team has decided to use the wonderful urban GLR textures by elgoalio_23 and ebina as new standard textures. Those have been used during the development of the new draggable GLR and the GLR-in-Avenue puzzle pieces. Since not everyone might like the new look, the old GLR textures have been extracted from the NAM files and packaged as an optional plugin. Note: This plugin will only change the textures of the GLR puzzle pieces, not the new draggable GLR and GLR-in-Avenue! If there's enough demand, we will create new textures with the classic look for those items as well. Dependencies Network Addon Mod from June 2007

  14. NAM: Development

I guess it's time to show some of the current things the NAM team is working on, starting with draggable GLR. Yes, we finally cracked the issue, and memo managed to create a special puzzle piece that allows GLR to be dragged. Here's how it works: You need to place the starter puzzle piece first, such as the el-rail-to-GLR ramp, or a "flat" GLR puzzle piece with connector. Then select the normal el-rail tool and start dragging GLR from the connector piece. The game will show the usual construction crew, like with other draggable networks. You can also drag curves, and create intersections by dragging through other networks. There's a minor glitch with the preview models, though, they will show about 16 meters above the ground, like the el-rail tracks. Unfortunately, we haven't discovered a method to change this yet. After a while, you'll get the hang of it, though. Place the GLR stations as usual, by plopping them on the GLR tracks. Note: All existing GLR stations will have to be modified to make them ploppable on draggable GLR. For more information, see below. To activate the automata going through the station, you still need to drag a short strip of el-rail tracks through the station. As you can see, commuters use the modified GLR station. Another shot which shows that the station is actually used. Some notes on draggable GLR: 1. As said above, when dragging GLR, the preview will still show up in a height of about 16 meters, like the el-rail tracks. It is unknown if this can be changed. You have to be careful when dragging curves and such, and it might need some trial and error to get it right. 2. All existing GLR stations will have to be modified. Since there are quite a number of them released at the STEX and elsewhere, this might be a huge task. In addition, you will have to bulldoze all GLR puzzle pieces from your existing cities and drag them again as shown above. 3. Draggable GLR, although being rather versatile, will still need some puzzle pieces, such as the aforementioned starter pieces, and intersection pieces, like el-rail x GLR (otherwise, if you cross GLR with el-rail, the el-rail will change into GLR), and the GLR-on-pedmall pieces. Currently, we're thinking about a dual approach regarding draggable GLR. Instead of modding all existing stations, we could leave the ploppable GLR puzzle pieces intact, so you can place the existing stations on the puzzle pieces, and use the starter puzzle pieces next to the stations. It would also be possible to mod all stations, so they act as starter pieces themselves. Another thing we discussed is changing the base texture of all GLR tracks (except the ped-mall pieces) to the texture ebina is using in his GLR track mod. They probably fit in better in an urban situation, but look a bit out of place in a rural enviroment. So here are some questions for you: Would you like fully draggable GLR, with the need to bulldoze all existing GLR puzzle pieces and update all your GLR stations? Do you want to keep your current GLR setup, and use draggable GLR only between your stations by using the starter puzzle pieces? Or do you want to place the stations first, use them as starter pieces themselves, and drag GLR between them? Finally, do you want to keep the current textures, or do you rather like the ones created by goalio and ebina? Apart from draggable GLR, memo also managed to create some GLR in avenue puzzle pieces. There's a basic set available at the moment, which should cover most of the needs. Here are some pictures: There are a number of intersections available, for all kinds of other networks. Weaving GLR into an avenue... It works! All GLR-in-avenue puzzle pieces that are currently available.
  15. NAM: Development

A NAM Showcase thread is being planned to show all of the NAM features, past, present, and future. This thread should appear in the next couple of days. On the topic of brick street puzzle pieces; this is currently being discussed by the team. They may be released if it is feasible to make the textures interchangeable, as to not favor one person's brick street textures over another. (there are a considerable number of texture sets in existence)
  16. That intersection was done with avenues. The October release of the NAM provided many, many new combinations of avenue intersections. To reproduce that particular one, try making an avenue + intersection, then drag diagonally away from the center of the intersection to make the other two directions. It may also look special because the avenue transitions into ground highway and rural highway immediately to the South and North, respectively.
