  1. I have one question that hopefully someone more knowledgeable than myself regarding pathfinding can answer. As I understand it, when sims decide how to get from home to work, they "roll a dice" so to speak to determine what method of transportation they want to use (car, mass transit, or fastest available). For instance, a high wealth sim has a 10% chance of using mass transit, an 80% chance of using only their car, and a 10% chance of using the fastest means of transit available, whatever form that may take. So, because the Big Dig converts car traffic to subway traffic (and subway is a form of mass transit), does that mean that a sim who wants to use only their car will avoid the tunnel system? If so, it seems that this may have particularly adverse implications for the wealthy sims commuting to their downtown offices (since they love their cars so much). Regardless, I will definitely continue to use your excellent work, but this is important to me because if this is true, then it might be important to build redundant surface highways in busier areas for the sims who are too stuck up to use the tunnels. Thanks in advance for any insight that anyone can share on this topic.
  2. High Speed Rail Project

Sorry but i have absolutely no idea what you are talking about?!?Please post a pic if possible, so i can see what the problem is.quote> Sorry for the confusion. I attached a picture this time, so hopefully that should help clear things up. To reiterate what I was trying to communicate before, the problem that appears in the attached picture only exists at this particular zoom level (Zoom 3), and only from this particular view/perspective (if the camera is rotated to any of the other 3 views, the bug disappears). I was able to reproduce this on both of my computers.
  3. High Speed Rail Project

This is an awesome project, and it's already working great in my cities. However, I have one small problem. In Zoom 3, one of the views has what appears to be a partial texture failure. It is one of the views in which the track runs from the lower left part of the screen to the upper right (the opposite view, which has similar orientation, has no problems). The texture failure only affects the left part of the track, which seems odd to me because I was under the impression that the whole surface of the track is a single texture. The left part of the track is covered up by a texture composed of red, green, and white shapes. This isn't a big deal, considering that it only shows up in one particular view at one particular zoom level, but do you have any idea what the problem might be? I can try to post a picture tomorrow if it would help. Thanks.
  4. Hi, I'm new here, but I have been using the RHW for about a week now and I absolutely love the concept. So, I thought I'd just throw in my two cents in response to your questions: So to everyone: 1) Do you want to see crash barriers on the outsides of the highway as a part of the mod? 2) How do you want us to change the ANT pre-transformation? (a 1-tile form of the RHW?)quote> 1) Crash barriers along the entire highway would be quite unrealistic, at least in regard to what I've seen across the US. However, if there is some way that you could integrate crash barriers on only turns, bridges, and perhaps slopes, that would be very nice. But, if it's a choice between crash barriers everywhere or not at all, I think I would prefer not at all. 2) I would be quite happy with a two lane version of the current RHW texture. A simple double orange stripe down the middle with one lane of traffic going in each direction.
  5. Its very simple ... with SC4Tool you can add switchpoints like the ones that are in already, just add 4 additional switchpoints and its done. If you would like me to do it for you, just mention it and I can "mod" the switchpoints for you.quote> Wouldn't this have the undesirable side effect of allowing commuters to enter the tunnel as bus traffic but exit as car traffic, and vis versa? And I'm almost scared to think how freight traffic might behave (freight trucks transforming into busses, for example). I don't really know that much about transit enabling, so hopefully I'm wrong, as I would love to see this work for busses and freight. Regardless, I still think this is a great project.
