  1. Got a quick SC4 question?... Ask here!

Quick question: I looked around, but hasn't seen anything yet on a bigger UI to make playing at 4K actually possible. Has anyone discovered anyting that could help me make the UI readable in 4K? The game itself runs super well with a wrapper...
  2. Hi guys, sorry, I don't mean at all to highjack this thread, but I wonder if the information contained here can be usefull to solve the bug where all building style will not grow at once even though that option is selected? More details in this topic...
  3. Ok, thank you, this is in line with what I am seeing. It is weird though that building stage percentages don't apply do new cities, since they are based on regional capacity. I've seen written elsewhere that skyscrapper should in theory be possible in new cities when regional population is high enough. But if the city population is also a factor, I'm staring to wonder if I'll get to see stage 15 buildings since most of my cities a middle size titles.
  4. Thank you for your answer. I have the prima guide and understand all these relations quite well. I would expect indeed to see stage 1-3 houses even on a medium or high density lot in the early game, but since my regional population is 600 000, I should see about 90% of stage 5+ even in my new city according to CAM percentages. This is not at all what I am witnessing in my new city connected to the region.
  5. The stages data I used are indeed from CAM 1.0, but this is the option I'm using even with CAM 2.1.0 I'm sorry, I really tried to check the threads about this in Google related to Simtropolis.com, but I can't find anything related to density level. Would you mind providing a thread link?
  6. Greetings, I've posted the following post on Reddit and SC4 Devotion but didn't get what I was expecting, so I'm posting it here as well, hope that's ok. I've been playing SimCity 4 for 16 years now, so I'm quite familiar with the game, I play with CAM 2.1 and a lot of custom buildings. The stage cap, were always said to be based on regional capacity, but I find there must be other variables at play here because the results I often see are inconsistent with the stage cap value provided by both CAM and Vanilla. I currently have a region of 600 000 population, and I just started a new city that will eventually be my "Manhattan". Demands for all wealth level are through the roof. So with that in mind, one would expect that by providing basic services, zoning for high density in a brand new city would allow for apartments and even high rise tenements out of the gate. However, I never found this to be the case. In brand new cities with high regional populations, single family home will still develop first and apartments will only appear later. They do appear faster than a brand new region, but still not following the percentage provided by CAM. According to CAM data, 90% of my buildings should be Stage 5 or more. That's not at all what I'm seeing in a my new city. Further more, I sometimes don't understand what triggers medium / high density buildings to upgrade. Sometimes I am simply placing park, and a R$ building will upgrade to a higher density R$ building, which doesn't make sense as the desirability was already high enough for a high density R$ building, and R$ are don't have their stage capped by park. My theory is that there are other variables that control building density in cities, other than total population. I've heard before to build out before building up, but even that doesn't follow he stage cap population if it is true. Anyone with a good understanding of building stages can shed a light?
  7. Hi there! Any updates on this? I downloaded a bunch of buildings recently, and I quickly noticed the night render issue. I'm surprised that the BAT4MAX method of export became the new standard. The effect of the night render really looks off during dusk or dawn, but then again, it's probably a compromise between that and using old tools. Anyways, if you still need help for the scripting part, I can take care of that!
  8. Ok so in theory, even if there is just a few high density zones in my new medium title city, I could possible see skyscrapers emerging from these? Really cool if that's the case.
  9. Hey guys! I just jumped back into SC4, such an amazing game! I installed the CAM and it's really cool! I have a question which I never understood about the building size. If I have a city of let's say 200 000 people with some skyscrapers, and then start a new city on a medium title in the region, will I be able to get skyscraper sooner if I zone high density? I usually like medium titles because connecting cities is easier, but if it limits the size of the building I can get, I'll play on big titles. Thank you for explaining!
