  1. Useful, this. Thanks. There were a few principles and ways of using roads and streets in here that I wasn't aware of.
  2. I used to play SC4 like mad on my desktop PC. I've got stacks of mods and patches and whatnot installed on the machine. I really liked SC4. Then I stopped playing for a while. Because my silly desktop PC got seriously slow (can anyone say Core2Duo?) and I really didn't want to format and have to reinstall everything. One of the things I'm most scared of in the whole format-and-reinstall process is the LHD to RHD mod for traffic. I've forgotten which registry entries to do where, just to get the damn cars on the correct side of the roads. Anyways, I digress... I've now got myself a laptop with Windoze 7 Pro on it. I want to know if its possible to, via magic or a mermaid's tear, copy all the stuff off of the XP PC over to the Win7 PC. Is it? Will all the patches work? Will most of my DLC work on the new PC? Will I be able to get the bloody cars on the correct side of the road without too much of a hassle? Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks, Steve
  3. Fantastic, I'll check that out soon. Need to wait until next month to download some new things (In South Africa, our rather lovely telecoms provider still caps us. Joy). Thanks for your help.
  4. Durban

I can see the Bluff! The detail on that is superb! Now all we need is a lot of uShaka
  5. High Summer on the Highveld, New Year in Johannesburg.

That's quite cool. I'm from Jo'burg, in fact, I still live here. What map did you base this off of? Direction wise or view point? Because the mountain range in the far 'north' of the map seems to be the Magaliesberg area. Well done!
  6. Hi guys, Hope everyone is well. So I've got a slight issue here. I've got the UK version of SC4 and I've downloaded all the required and CORRECT patches (even though I'm in South Africa), including the latest NAM. OK so everything's sweet, I know there's going to be an issue with left-hand/right-hand driving but no problem, I'll figure it out later. But now it's bugging me. At the moment, all the cars are driving on the LEFT side of the road. The arrows introduced in the NAM are also on the left side of the road. This is all fine with me. However, the traffic lights are on the RIGHT side of the road. I've tried using the suggested regedit method but I've haven't got any result thus far. So what can I do? I remember getting the cars to drive on the right side of the road a few years back but that was before my computer crashed. If possible, I'd like the traffic lights to be on the left side of the road where all the cars and arrows and flotsam and jetsam are. Any suggestions? Thanks a million all.
  7. Show us your Railroads!

I will update some pics of a really complicated railroad soon, they're quite cool but not as cool as what some of you guys can do.
  8. Using the PlopModd Final....

  9. Using the PlopModd Final....

How can i get to message the creator of the Modd? (Ralpheal)
  10. Doppler Radar Tower

Funnily enough, this was previously released at SimCityCentral a while back. This should put an end to all the "I've seen this somewhere before" hubbabaloo. But once again, great work. a little more effort could have been put in to the STEX version, hence the fact I'm only giving it a 3/10. "More effort needed". They are so right. Too bad... "Come on, you can do so much better!!"
  11. What is the best highway layout?

You're damn lucky buggers up there in da US.... Here, in South Africa we have some of the most complicated road networks..... i mean, who can expect a tourist to navigate through some on the intersections.... Ya, but neway, hope ya find a solution to ur problem.....
  12. The Cobb Shoreline

    Perfecto!!!!!
  13. THANX!!!!! This helped alot.
  14. Hello all!!! Ok, here's the story: I live in South Africa and recently my mom went to the UK and decided to bring back a copy of SC4 Deluxe, so the same problem is here: Signs on right, cars on left, i think that sums it up. CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE WRITE A CLEAN CUT TUTORIAL ON HOW TO SWITCH AS I CANNOT UNDERStAND EVERYTHING THAT EVRYONE IS SAYING HERE!!!!! Thanks... Hi again. Just tried the "Left to Right Hand Driving Switch" from the mod section. Didn't understand the instructions and Rendermad's instructions are not correct.... CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME HERE!!!!?? Thanks.....
  15. What is the LARGEST amount of years you've racked up on a city? I've got SC4 Deluxe and have been playing (for those of you who know which one I'm talking about) Rush Hour Tutorial (have changed the name to Stuttgart...even though I'm not German) for about 1 year and the city shows that it's in the year: 2210 WOW!!! Now what's YOUR RECORD???
  16. High Speed Rail Project

Hi, Sorry for the long absence. I would like if possible that all requests for the HSRP ie: pictures, ideas, etc. be sent to me so I can then pass them on to Murakumon directly. Thanks
  17. High Speed Rail Project

Hi guys, I'm back!!!!! (applause) no, please, really, thanks, thanks very much OK, so now looking at how this thing is organised, we should probably look at making a team, how does that sound? Am looking forward to your response...
  18. High Speed Rail Project

I have a good idea, well, at least in my opinion... why don't we start a new topic for BATters and MODders WANTED FOR HIGH SPEED RAIL PROJECT URGENTLY!!! How does that sound??? Oh, and 3DDZ posted something about sound barriers... unecessary... you just don't need it, the fact being that sims can't get on the rails already so it sounded like a good idea at first, but now that I come to think of it... I dunno, eh? But listen Murakumon's in charge of this, so we'll leave it to him... Thanks.
  19. High Speed Rail Project

Date: 2/24/2006 11:54:04 PM Author: Defenceman I would prefer to see the HSRP take 2 tiles, I think that it would actually be a better balance to the game, and even not being able to tunnel would be a acceptable cost.  It makes sense too, High Speed Tracks require special considerations, curves cannot be as sharp, etc., so having to sacrifice 2 tiles of development instead of one is a sensable and acceptable cost.  (I also think Highspeed Trains should be VERY expensive).  As for a subway connection, I am not a fan of Modes of Transportation changes, sure this limits us to straight tunnels, or none at all, but I think that a 2 wide highspeed tile is better than subway connections (plus we could make 2 puzzle pieces that do the sub->HS Rail, a left and right one, than drag the tunnel across both, 90 degrees are possible underground) quote> Although I haven't posted on this topic before, (this is my own personal opinion) I really think the HSRP should be a 1 tiler, with the reason being that most people might be short of space in their fast-growing cities, taking into consideration that the 2 tiler does look good yet it lacks realism... here in South Africa, we just started the planning of the new Hi-Speed Gautrain (named after the province Gauteng in South Africa). The reason for the train itself is for the 2010 Soccer World Cup here, the train is meant to have a top speed of app. 310 KPH and maintain that speed until the next station... acceleration-wise... well, I personally don't really know about the 0-200 KPH stats but it's sure to be a bruiser... stay tuned to this topic to see the proposed look and branding for it... Oh, and one more thing... the in-game train, what speed is it going to reach compared to a normal passenger train? Depending on speed, the faster the train goes and the more people commute via it, it might be possible to drastically reduce commute times... I really do think the whole HSRP could be great inner-city, cross-city and trans-regional travel as this could open more doors to big business oppurtunities. I will be so surprised if you, and the team that you wish to assemble, can pull this off, and if you do... well... I will most certainly take my hat off to you...
  20. Please, please, oh please, upload the city so we can use it. Oh, and WoNdErFuL job with the city, I should upload the pics of mine, I'm not sure if any of you will remember the Rush Hour Tutorial city, well... I carried on with it and boy..... well, you just wait and see...

Date: 2/12/2006 11:53:40 PM Author: JDRCRASH awesome btw, how do I get those extra middle lanes at intersections? quote> In response to this here's ur solution: Well, u need to look for the Network Addon Mod or the NAM as it is known, in the modding files and download it. Now, dependin on the version of the game you've got, be it the US or European version, you need to install it properly so that the turnin lanes are on the correct side of the road. But...(dramatic pause)... don't believe the gettin the cars on the correct side of the road thing, because it's all *&%@!$ # and it doesn't work neway. Oh ya... to anyone else here, to use BATs, do u have to have the 3D Max thing? If u know, please provide a link to the exact place where I need to download the 3D MAx tool thing... Thanx... and well done to the guy who did the intersection thing...look's great....
