    SimCity Social is Closing Down

Barely 1 year after launch, SimCity Social is closing down:

"The decision to retire older EA games is never an easy one to make but in order to re-allocate servers and resources to more popular titles we are removing SimCity Social from Facebook. Players who still have a balance of in-game currency are encouraged to spend it before the game is shut down on 14th June and is no longer available for play."

Poor Simcity, 10 years, then they release a failure, I thought that things got better after time, but no, it seems like we get rotten apples and uncooked meat. EA can take back what they did because a decade of wait on a classic that breaks is not what the people asked for.

I hope EA sees what they did when they are under the brink of bankrupcy. Maybe then they will be forgotten if they did something RIGHT instead of continuing the show they are doing.

Correct, I don't think it is what anyone asked for. Having said that, it doesn't mean they broke a classic. Not everyone is going to appreciate it, sure. I've been a SC fan since the beginning and I really like this new one. Some changes I don't like, but when I analyze the trade-offs, I like the direction this SC went in. It's taken some getting used to, though.

in the not too distant future the same will happen to simcity 2013!

at some point no matter how many existing customers their sales will drop and they will start losing money on the servers and that day simcity 2013 will get the axe

so much for your wasted money on the game, dlcs and hours of work on cities.

all gone so ea can show a profit for the quarter.

with all honesty, i had a good laugh reading these comments,

but seriously, Facebook games all have an unpleasant way of bringing in cash to the developers. manipulating game play to a time span to regain resource  and spamming friends on the social network. or to pay a fee to instantly gain access to the resource required to play this absolutely worthless game.

in my mind this is undoubtedly the worst thing that has come to the gaming industry history.

so i say good riddance to SimCity Social

SimCity social was an advertisement for the sales of Simcity 2013. Now they hope that the "core" SC Social gamers will move to SC13.

EA seems to have cut the Logic and Common Sense Departments out of their annual budgets. SimCity Social has been doing relatively well, so they kill it to prop up the failing SimCity 2013. Ladies and Gentlemen, SimCity 4 is the pinnacle of the franchise, with all of the mods that have been created, SC4 is like a virtual model railroad set. Don't spend $60 on a flop of a game(SC2013), spend $10-15 on an oldie but goodie (SC4), made only better by the hard work and dedication of the creative minds who provide us with endless mods and possibilities to sculpt the cities of our dreams (and destroy it when those teachers strike!)

Wow EA nice job one again. I was getting pretty convinced to buy simcity 2013 but now this has happened i'm 99% sure they will do this with simcity in a few years. I hope they win the 'worst company in America' next year and the year after that. Meanwhile I will stick with simcity 4 as that was the last quality product of the simcity series they have released. Sad but true.

Wow, EA is freakin' helpless. One thing after another is collapsing. Won't be surprised if their game sales crash anytime soon. >:(

Not worth the time or money, I have uninstalled. YOU have to be a complete fool to throw money away on something that will not be playable in the future. I don't care what it says on EA's game boxes, it should say for all future games NOW RENTING and if it doesnt they should be SUED!!!!! So no sense on complaining about it anymore if everyone that is upset, you know what you need to do QUIT BUYING and QUIT PLAYING. Find a new hobby or game company that still sales you a game and not empty game box or just keep playing the great Simcity 4 until things change. It is not the end of the world but if people cut their PROFITS that is the only way they will listen. The sooner the cut the sooner the listen, if not the sooner the extinction of EA
