Sim City Beta Testers: EA has a new way to oppress your playing experience!

Electronic Arts is at it again. This time with an overzealous EULA. The company's resentment and bitterness towards their own customers manifests itself in treating beta players who fail to report bugs no differently than the bug abusers:

"If you know about a Bug or have heard about a Bug and fail to report the Bug to EA, we reserve the right to treat you no differently from someone who abuses the Bug. You acknowledge that EA reserve the right to lock anyone caught abusing a Bug out of all EA products."

Maybe EA hasn't come out with the best Sim City sequel, but there is no denying they've created the best oppressive regime simulator on the market.

Seems like my thinking over EA is a bit wrong. It is not a greedy company anymore, it is a tyrant !

Banning someone for not telling any bugs in the game ? I think this kind of thing should be posted in the 'Why should the person above you be banned ?' thread instead of the EULA.

My hopes is extremely low, very near to zero, and what you do, EA, is not helping at all. Even your EULA seems like a joke.

Well... a quick translation already as this it applies not only to simcity but to any product (service in reality), about the true concern for publishers.

    - You also can not take advantage or disseminate in network, any kind of knowledge about deceiving or defrauding for modify or use the services, whatever of the methods that are used, so affecting billing

This should if also apply to the Keygens that are running on in the network for the Beta key so it is good to be careful.

-In the way things are going it seems that publishers adopted the style " " We know what's best for you, then stay your mouth shut. obey our rules and give us the your money."

I think I'll return to play chess!

Welp. The company is trying their hardest for me to keep disliking this game. I'll just wait like 2-3 years before purchasing this. I just ordered Cities XL 2012 to fill that 3D void.

It's just that the original EULA was the standard one for all EA games, it was just meant to deter people using exploits. You don't have to report general bugs if you don't want to, but it'd be nice if you could.

I'm glad you could clarify this for the community. One is lead to believe the contents of a legal contract such as the EULA are accurate to the company's intentions. It is unfortunate that EA's vague and ill-conceived clauses have only caused more confusion and thus aided in lowering much of the community's respect for the company. However, thank you for being quick to clarify the situation. Leaving such a clause unexplained would be at the expense of less beta testers and more confused/angered customers (I'm sure many would be reluctant to risk their whole Origin accounts).

Ok, this reminds me of the old joke: What do you get when you have 100 lawyers chained to the bottom of the ocean?

This has earmarks of hastily preparing a legal document that could have international implications. It is good that it is being revised.

I suggest that EA might want to revise their legal team, too. They clearly need to get some good copyright people on board as well as someone with ligitation experience. My limited, ancient, exposure to commercial law (1950s) seems to be better than theirs.
