Urbanisation and the evolution of cities in Dimland across 10,000 years, Classical Age
As we saw in the previous chapter, agriculture was the crucial evolutionary step towards permanent human settlement and the creation of the first organized towns and cities from around 9500B.C. The collapse of bronze age civilizations led to a period called "dark ages" in which the was a massive migration. Very little is known. After this period, classical antiquity begins in the 8th century BC until the 6th century AD. During this period the Greeks achieved new heights in art, architecture, theater, and philosophy. Democracy in Athens was refined under the leadership of Pericles. In Dimland, these achievements led to the creation of large cities. Let's take a journey back in time and see some of the most important cities of ancient Dimland and how they evolved through centuries. Enjoy.
