The Viceroyalty Needs You!

Just a quick post to say I haven't forgotten about my promised update. I was away skiing so time somewhat restricted me and I couldn't find the time to finish a few things and post the update before heading off. The update will however be uploaded this weekend! I'll also reply to everyone individually as well. Thank you all for your on-going support

This post has a dual purpose though. I'd like to hear your suggestions for what you'd like to see more of from Passau and wider Perseus. I have tended to post 'complete' and pretty things from Passau, which I am aware of. Primarily that's because in my head the place exists as a functioning country and so I rarely post 'in-progress' images of the city. I also know Passau has a tendency to look a bit too 'clean', there are reasons for that but I would like to experiment with creating some rougher areas.

I would like to create new and different updates for 2016 and I welcome suggestions or requests. I also hope to start work on the less dense areas that surround Passau and these will comprise lower density housing, parkland and some aspects of rural.

I'll do my best to progress any ideas, so please make as many suggestions as you like.

Same as above ^ . I'm a fan of the more rural aspects of the game , though your entries have been well presented and look great .

Keep up the good work . :thumb:

Personally I like it when a CJ has it's own sense of style, so I don't think your general thread of keeping things pretty is bad at all. Changing things up could add for some interesting diversity but it could also clash if that transition isn't gradual enough. You could show us more of a transition to areas of lower density. But if I had one recommendation for your CJ it would probably be to switch over to the RRW. I had a lot of apprehension about doing so myself last year. I actually still kind of like the ballast texture of maxis rail better since where I live it trends to be a darker gray texture rather than the beige/light brown of the the RRW. That is balanced out somewhat by the more realistic appearance of the rails and ties used by the RRW. But what has completely sold me on the RRW is the smooth curves and junction that can be made. Granted the transition might be harder for you as it seems like you have a lot of custom rail lots using the maxis textures. So you'd have a fair amount of relotting work to do if you wanted to keep things seemless but IIRC you do like working with the editor in any case.

I'm kinda holding out for the new NAM release which is likely to include an option to adjust the colour of the RRW ballast and possibly the sleepers. If that doesn't happen then I will bite the bullet and switch to RRW anyway as developments are just too exciting to not use. Some of the new textures by Simmer will make changing existing depots and facilities much easier.

I'm also going to try and transition away from Maxis highways, albeit the re-textured version, I just need to spend time on creating compact interchanges and junctions, massive sprawling interchanges are not that common in the UK and it'll just take me some time to get to grips with it as it's a pretty tedious process which I've yet to acquire the patience for. I'll probably start using them in areas outside the main city core and have them serve as major roads and something know as High-Quality Dual Carriageways in the UK/Ireland

I would like to see some more suburban areas, as i know that it is a more difficult area to create due to the small number of such British BATs without a lot of repetition.
