Smallville : Logging

tariely

1,213 Views

1. For a long time the main industry in Smallville was logging, on Mount Harrelson. Once almost clearcut to death, it is now taken care of, replanted, and listed as "Renewable resource".  Of course, the alluvial plain was also deforested in order to build the new Smallville (once bridges had been built on the Coyla). But three generations of tree-loving Mayors (the Zabnises, of which more later on) saw to that, and as you could see in the previous entry, the city is green enough.

Now on with the logging. (Mostly a picture dump from P. R.'s memory album, if you don't mind, guys and gals. Xmas is looming ever near...)

Here's the source of the small stream that helps bring the logs down to Lake Harrelson :

Yo --

VERY nice, indeed.  I haven't gotten into logging, yet -- but it looks like you pretty much nailed it!

You're a though act to follow! ;->

Looks great!  Very organic and very realistic.  I especially like the 2nd picture and the last one.

I know it's convenient and all, but don't deforest too much...:D

   Very nice indeed , you definitely nailed it . You are following in the footsteps of the Great Master Paeng . The lumber mill , 4th pic down :thumb: Awesome .

Journey through Paengia  is one of my favorite CJ's of all time , and yours is catching up to it with each entry . You have learned alot from Master Paeng , I take .

I did, and still do. And I'll never catch up (as I don't lot, for one !). I doubt anyone will. But every SC4 player should. He is an inspiration.  And he made so many great lots ! Not always big shiny things but smaller lots or sets that are absolutely necessary when painting a landscape or a city... "Painting", that's the operative word here. He's a painter. SC4 is not only about skyscrapers and 3 millions habs megapolis or jaw-dropping NAM spaghettis, howver fun that is now and then:-). It'sabout  using the difficult tricks of 2D to paint as realistic possible a 3D image as we can, be it country or city. Anyhoo, that's what I like about it !:-)

Very nice city journal, indeed. I really looks like a real life scene. Can't imagine how many efforts you spent in placing all those MMPs :-)

If you allow me to ask: You seem to use a set of dirt roads I haven't seen before. Any hints where to find them?

Very, very nice. Great MMP work and great deployment of the various lumber/forestry mods out there in SC4.

Wow, that's obviously not something you see everyday on here. I think your being too modest, maybe no one will match what Paeng has done but your work is nothing to scoff at either. You did a helluva job yourself painting the landscape with activity there.

Aaack!  Clearcutting!!

Ahh, well.  All that wood has to come from somewhere.  Beautiful job as always, ma'am.
