Rebuilding Kensington
Alejandro24, dubaidude303, IL., ggamgus, KonstantinII: Thank you guys. The Tunisian buildings will be very useful for Kensington, because they look a bit like the homes of the Venus Project. I get the water plant from a Japanese site but I can't remember the site. I'll search for it. And why messing with cables, when you can use wireless transition technology? ![]()
Time to rebuild Kensington. Before that, let's have a look at Fulham.

Ah, much better! Now this is what I call industries! And as you can see, it's only the beginning.

Hmm, small industries in a row. I don't like it, but I can fix it.

More constructions ahead. I build a subway railroad system to make commuting faster and easier.

And how about a small heliport? Maybe it will replaced with something bigger, but let's leave it from now.

For those who enjoy walking, the roads who connect Fulham with Kensington will have pavements for saver walking. Not realistic? Don't know about yours, but my Sims use cybernetic legs to walk faster without get tired. Some of them even use wheels than feet, so they don't need cars and buses to go anywhere they want. So they deserve a pavement, isn't?

To make sure that Fulham is environmental friendly, there are enough water and air purifiers to keep the place clean.

The landfill is now smaller, but there is still in the city!!!

Now that there are enough jobs for the Sims, let's have a look into Kensington.

Believe it or not, Kensington is a very realistic city. Why? Because is unfair, ugly and inefficient. Here is what I mean. You're going to build a civilization and you want to keep it run for as long as possible. All you need to do is to provide enough resources to your Sims. Sims need air, water, food, house, safety, healthcare, education, spiritual and social activities. And what is the best approach to do it? But of course the most "realistic". Give all the resources to a few Sims to waste them and let the rest of them live with nothing! And even better, force the poor people to pay the rich people!!

The city is also ugly, providing only a few services to the Sims. The result is a dead collection of buildings, where the Sims "live" like prisoners in jails and not like truly free citizens. The sole purpose of a well designed city is to free people from boring monotonous tasks, make available a much higher standard of living and provide more leisure time, so the people could have the time and freedom to choose the lifestyle they find most fulfilling. The city should designed to serve the needs of every member of society, but it failed.

And speaking about ugliness, if you're going to make an ugly building... paint it brown to make it worst! ![]()

And of course the city is inefficient. Look at those farms. They consume too much resources, power and water to feed just a small city. And when the city expanded more and more, what? Starvation?

O.K., I saw enough. Time to rebuild Kensington.

Just like in Fulham, I also make some extra streets to enclose the city and remove dead ends.

And now it's time to remove everything from the map, except of the roads.

The city had too much roads, which are unnecessary thank to N.A.M., so let's remove some of them.

Let's flat a bit the map and make it much less bumpy.

And now we're ready to build the city. Kensington used power from Fulham, but now it has it's own power plant.

The city needs water, including water from rains. This facility stores and cleans the raining water to make it available to the city.

Kensington will send the "garbage" to Fulham, but it can also manage some of the wastes as well. Using this plasma gasification facility to vaporize waste material, the resulting steam & gas are both used to power generators to produce electricity. In addition to the obvious advantage of turning trash into electricity and reusable green fuels, the process is extremely clean and environmentally friendly. Plasma gasification has been used for years in the real world for the disposal of industrial & bio hazard wastes. More recently, municipalities world wide are adopting the process to eliminate the huge costs and environmental issues of dumping municipal solid wastes into landfills. New technologies and innovations have greatly reduced the operating costs of this process, and have added additional benefits in the form of generated electricity, reusable clean fuels, recyclable products and even potable water.
GET LOST LANDFILLS AND INCINERATORS!!! :kitty:

This is where indoor hydroponic facilities, vertical farms and outdoor agricultural zones will constructed, which will be used to grow a wide variety of organic plants without the use of pesticides. Those pipes create waterway for irrigation and filtration the agricultural zone.

All basic facilities are ready for action, so let's build civil services. Before that, let's make the diagonal roads more interesting by placing diagonal fillers.

And now we're ready for action. First let's make sure that our Sims will be safe from fires, accidents and other emergency situations, by buildings fire stations, rescue centres and hospitals.

Science and art are the apogee of intelligence. This is why schools, libraries, laboratories and museums are vital for the city.

Zoning time! Now that everything is fine, it's time to lay residential and some commercial zones.

Final adds, like extra amenities and some spacecrafts flying around.

Ready! Stay tuned to see how the city will evolved ![]()
