Rebuilding Fulham
Schulmanator, Alejandro24, Evillions: Thanks for the comments folks. I'm not leaving SimMars, I just decide to try something less extraterrestrial (but still "heretic"
). You can find the tree controller from here.
Today we'll rebuild Fulham, the industrial city of the London region.

Let's have a look to this city.

Oh boy, this city is ugly! Small low technology factories, polluting the environment and surrounded by bumpy roads with cars, cars and more cars. Can this city be uglier?

AAAAH, MY EYES! A landfill? Do you really think that just dropping the trash somewhere is the best solution?

Seriously, it can't be uglier. I mean, what next? A miniature coal powe...

O.K., I saw enough. Let's...

I SAID ENOUGH ![]()
Let's rebuild Fulham please...

I never liked the dead ends, especially when they're unnecessary. So let's enclose the city with some extra roads.

And now it's time to empty our canvas by removing all buildings and trees from the map.

Thanks to N.A.M., we don't need to build tons of roads everywhere, so let's remove them for a while. I'll make a better route for the main roads.

I like the Maxis streets, but how about a new kind of street? This mod by Moonlight replace one of the S.A.M. streets and it's very beautiful.

The city is too bumpy, so let's fix it. Totally flat cities are boring, so let's make it stairs-like sloped. All you need to do is using road tiles and some patience.

I also make the rest map almost flat. If I want to build something nice, like an arcology or a spaceport, I'll have some flat terrain to do it. Of course the map is still an unfinished canvas, so don't consider this as the final result.

Time to rebuild Fulham. Let's begin with power plants. The geothermal plant by Pegasus is an awesome selection, because it's clean and very efficient. I think that just 1 is fine.

Fulham is selling power to the other city. Let's rebuild the power cables connection, this time with underground cables. Nicola Tesla's wireless power transmission technology is coming soon.

The factories are almost automatic, with robots doing all the hard work of turning natural resources into products. Workers are still useful, to research for new products and methods for improving the industries. Both Sims and robots need water, for drinking, the cooling systems and not only. This facility provides water from the river to the city.

All goods use only the necessary resources, are upgradeable and recyclable. After their use, they moved to this recycle centre. Nothing wasted!

A society of free thinkers doesn't need laws, police forces and jails. But still is a good idea to build some police stations, to ensure that emergency situations will not harm the city and it's workers.

And don't forget to add enough fire stations, unless you want to copy Nero and watch your city in flames by playing lyre. Of course the idea that Nero played any kind of musical instrument during the event is an urban legend, since he was away from Rome at the time of the fire. Oh well, you know that I mean.

Ah, at last, my favourite part of rebuilding. The slopes are now covered by trees, making the industrial city a beautiful place to research and create. Can't wait for the result. Oh by the way, I also hate the messy way of the game in building the factories, so I use the Control button to make specific zoning for an organized result and not a chaotic one.

Let's build a better route for the main road. Maybe I'll add tram lines as well. Oh, I also placed some subway stations as well.

And behold! Fulham is ready! Yeah, right. Fulham is still an canvas waiting for more colours and designs. But it's still a start. And yes, now it's much better than before.

More pictures and constructions of Fulham are coming soon ![]()
