Novaya Tulsk | The Harbor

-
Welcome back comrades!
Novaya Tulsk is built on the shores of a bay connected to the Pacific Ocean. A harbor was built at the mouth of the Tulsk River to open the city to the world.
The harbor considerably grew during the Soviet Era, along with the city's industry and numerous projects of canals to link Thulak to the Siberian basin and Moscow. The harbor was supposed to become one of the biggest of the Soviet Union and the country's main Eastern seaport with Vladivostok.
Unfortunately these projects were never realized and the harbor was never used to its full capacity. Competition with other forms of transport like rail, air or road make it very unlikely that the harbor will ever see an increase in its use.

The city grew in front of the harbor and the modern skyscrapers clash with the chimneys of the T-02 power station.Tourists (there are dozens of them! dozens!) that visit our Glorious Republic are very fond of seeing the skyline of the city from the bay.
The flame-shaped Okhta Center, the newest and tallest of Novaya Tulsk's skyscrapers is a striking visual homage to the once-bustling oil refinery of the harbor that would light the night sky with flames from its towering chimneys.

An artificial island was built for the expansion of the harbor in 1952. Today its docks are only seldom used.

Novaya Tulsk-Jukovsky Airport (JNA), facing the harbor and 5 minutes from the city-center. This airport is the second biggest of the city but the oldest. It is now mainly used as an outflow for the bigger Friedrich Engels International Airport.

The Tulsk River, namesake of the city. Shallow and irregular, it dug a canyon around which the city was built.
Floods and mudslides are frequent during the spring when the snow melts, thus its banks were raised and fitted to avoid floods in the city.

Near the factories are high and impressive works of Soviet architecture. To live that close to their workplace reduces commute time for the Thulakians and makes them happier!

A "Tulskaya Plastics" factory ; Made with the finest petroleum derivatives, the "Tulskaya" plastics are the pride of the Thulakian industry. These plastics are perfect to make the famous Thulakians beauty creams "Napoleon," and the delicious "Soviet Smax" breakfast cereal. ("Soviet Smax" promotes the communist ideal of an equal repartition of honey between all corn flakes. "Soviet Smax," socialism in every spoon!)

Thanks for visiting! For the Glory of Our Revolution, please stick around for a few more pictures of the city center. Don't forget to leave a little comment, but remember that online-conversations on this CJ are monitored by the Ministry of Truth, for everyone's safety !
