WOW!

that's massive!

There are, however some scaling issues...

Particularly tennis courts appear HUGE, much larger than 8,3 meter width that they are suppose to be.

Also there is odd absences of shadows everywhere...

    thanks for your replies 4.gif

emmotic: yes the green area is only alot indicator that I have in my 3D scene, there will be some more details as I said, like more flora and the idea with the flags. Also I think an entrance sign would look nice.

grbac80: a fountain is a very good idea! will do that 4.gif  I have tons of pics of the real model, what I could use is photos of any detailing of the real building/construction site (for instance I just saw pictures of lamps that are placed in the plaza area that I can now include in my BAT)

SimFox:  hey, you should be used to my standard rig with shadow issues by now 3.gif  I use it for the modelling stage to make  quick scanline renders.  The whole scene is unfinished. Right now modelling is in last stage, after that the texturing and day rendering (Mental Ray) will be finalized. Tennis courts have been resized, thanks. Anything else popped in your eyes?

afstandopleren: when is it available for download? Well, from the beginning of this project I pledged to release the BAT before the real Burj is complete. So at the moment I have until the end of the year, hehe.

I noticed on your pinnacle preview from before that your roof junk is really gigantic, lol. The benches should be under a meter wide, while the other objects on the roofs are actually vents, and those should also definitely be smaller than a meter.

Also, have you read about HD .SC4Models? I think this would be a fantastic candidate for one! hahah

Oh good lord, I hope you're joking!  I want to use this building, not make my computer explode due to file size!

Andisart, this is shaping up to be your best project yet.  Can't wait to see the final release!  (non-HD, thanks.  3.gif)

    Thanks 4 ur replies 4.gif

Jasoncw:   I did downscale the chairs, check again the pic and you can see the difference. Do u still think they are too big? (also look below for another pic with chairs).    I heard of the new HD method, don't know much about it yet. Waiting for the new version of Bat4MAX to try it out myself.

grbac80:   Yeah please PM rather than post all here, thanks 9.gif

Zel:  Maybe I will make SD and HD then 4.gif

    Small update:

Have been doing some rescaling, some details added

    BEFORE  - AFTER

    more side details

    more-details-copy.jpg

Decided to add an edge to the outer roads

well... as I said it overall the scale issues. it looks like small things are too big... Apart from tennis courts also the roads/pathways on the base look a bit too wide. Also the relative size of palms vs. hight of the steps and sun beds... Somehow it all looks like it comes from different , unrelated universes... But that, unlike courts is a difficult thing to judge, to be honest. I just though to point it to you so you could take another look at it yourself.

You could model a "sample SIM" and say sample CAR just to be sort of "measuring sticks"

As far as HD version of Bat4Max is concerned it is ready. It has some other improvements and fixes for old errors. But I still need to write some introductory/explanatory thing about it.... But it could be available for sort of Beta Testing...

heheh, I was just joking about making an HD model out of it. Even the normal .SC4Model of this would have an ungodly file size, and an HD model would be unimaginable.

For the size of things, just think of how big they are in real life, and then just model them with that. Those kinds of chairs are a bit wider and taller than people are, so they would probably be something like 1 x 2.3 meters.

I agree that the palm trees seem small, but it depends on what kind of palm trees they are, since I think some of them come that size in real life. But regardless, right now they all look the same. A simple way of adding variation is to go through and rotate them individually by different amounts, so that different sides of the tree will face the camera (and so they will look more different).

Also, some handrails for the stairs would be a nice touch, imo. They also serve the purpose of establishing a sense of scale. I forget how big they usually are, so next time you walk by rails, take note of how tall they are, how far apart the vertical poles are spaced, and how thick the poles are. Those dimensions will give you a good starting point for modeling your own (since you'll have to exaggerate them a little bit in certain ways to make them legible).

It may also be time to start doing renders with the lighting rig which you intend on using for your final render. For modeling smaller details it's important, because different set ups are better for clearly rendering smaller things, and on a larger scale, using the rig you plan on using is important so that you can see what the character of the spaces are. Without seeing what it will actually end up looking like it's harder to make good judgements. For example, the area with the palm trees may end up being really dark from all of the shadows, and you may end up removing some of the trees.

omg!! the base is so huge!

apparently i underestimated it, i have left only 8 x 8 space in my downtown for this structure few years back. Now i guess i have to crack my mind how to razor some buildings to accomodate this.

may i know the base size?  it looks like 16 x 16?
