@pichu: That would be great if I could take a look on them! Thanks!

@Dusk: Thanks for the tip, there are not many choices though, more trees than plants.

Here's a construction update. I made a scale test for the base of the building:

In the meantime I love to share more about AL BURJ, the second super-high tower they will built in Dubai, just around the corner of the Burj... Unlike Burj Dubai construction has not started for Al Burj. As I said on the first page, introducing the tower among other super-high projects, the proposed height is 750 meters (2500 feet)!

Have a look on this most amazing renders:

I think the thing I like most about these new towers is seeing the new architecture, and how the each cultures traditional art and symbols, and religous stuff, and climate and all of that other stuff influencing the design, making something new.  I guess that's only true if the architects are from that place though.

good work on the tower!  maybe when it's done you can e-mail the owner of the real building.  The owner would probably be happy to hear about it.  You'd have to find someone who speaks the language.

If you go to Al Burj's website, there is an awesome video showing the central atrium. It is actually three towers joined by innumerable skybridges. This is truly an incredible tower and I have the highest hopes that it will actually be constructed, but considering Burj Dubai will end up costing approximately five billion dollars when completed, I just can't imagine it being built in that form.

The forumers at SkyscraperCity from Dubai have total faith that anything in Dubai will be finished once announced, but one has to question the economics. Being a residential building, Al Burj will probably never pay for itself.

By the way, if you want to be truly blown away, there are 205 stories in that render, not counting the crown! Nakheel insiders say that this will be the tower to reach 1 kilometer!46.gif

I understand what you're saying about the building not paying for itself but part of the point of these super-structures for Dubai is to raise the profile of the city/state. They are doing this to help create confidence in the local economy by showing what can be done there, to create a tourism industry from virtually nothing and to create the business centre of the Middle East. Certainly these towers are raising the profile of Dubai imeasurably.

^ That's true, and most people have never even heard of that country, much less that city.

But I think the top penthouse must rent for an astronomical amount of money.  The highest floor on the highest building on the planet will attract alot of money, along with all the other floors.  I think it will (eventualy) pay itself off.  It must have an outstanding view too 48.gif

@kefka: That's a funny idea to mail the BAT to the guy who did the Burj 1.gif And I agree, it's fascinating to see towers so super-high with a cultural influence of the mid-east.

@zeram zeram: I'm not sure if 205 stories would make the tower 1km necessarily. But thinking about it makes me dizzy for sure. To me it feels like the future begins with these super-high structures. And for sure more will follow now the ice is broken which is incredible news!

@Fantail:  Thank you 1.gif I will keep it up!

@zeram zeram (again): What I heard is that the lower part of the tower will be apartments and the upper part offices only (and observation platforms). So unfortunately the highest floor will be office as it seem.  I'd really rather have it an apartment.

Update coming in a couple of days!

Your right this is far from basic. It's hard to get an appreciation of the scale of it from the last pics, however I have no doubt it's going to be a beast!

Just a couple tips:  Lighting up 1/2 floors is realistic... that and I would suggest a little more be lit up.  Unless you were already planning on going on with this.

I like the lighting color that you picked.  I think its the best choice!

You are really doing a good job!  Keep it up.

Could be a bit late to say this, but anyway, Welcome Back!

I'm also back from 2wks break, starting Yavina 17 and others again.

and Chinatown furnitures, they are far more simple than you think. The most complex thing in that furniture package is probably the bikes.  Just have a look at this chair- it's actually a 3 minutes work3.gif3.gif

Do you still want these pieces of 3ds? If so, which one? These are in the package.
