ArkenbergeJoe is working on his second 4x5/5x4/5x5 lot set, similar to the allotments/50's residentials/pre-fab buildings. Apart from the allotments, the so-called dacha (country house) is very popular in eastern Europe. You can spend the weekend or even the whole summer in this rather small house, often surrounded by a small garden.

For a more dense development, stephenhh has created some more 50's residentials, namely diagonals. They were put into the set, as well as more pre-fabricated buildings. The one with 21 floors was released a few days ago, it will be accompanied by a 19-floor one, more will follow later.

Wow, great job Andreas Roth. You are very innovative. From the highways (which I downloaded) to all the residential apartments and homes (all of which I have downloaded as well). Fantastic job!

Well, don't thank (only) me, but the entire SimForum BAT Team. 1.gif I'm mainly the modding and PR guy, whereas others are doing the BATting and lot development. Since we all come from Germany, our creations are obviously inspired by local stuff, but I guess they also fit in elsewhere.

lol, ok thanks. sorry for sounding a bit fast in that comment, I was in a rush. I do love the tenements, but here in norway, there rarely are such things as R$ blocks, most tenements, ugly as they can be, are usually inhabited by mid wealth citizens.48.gif

Actually, it's the same in Germany. Once, these tenements were intended for low-wealth residents in particular, but now many of them were renovated and are now inhabited by medium-wealth families.

You really do have 19-floor tall pre-fab residentials? In Hungary, and mosty in Budapest, the tallest of pre-fabs are only 15-floors tall. there are only 5 or 6 pre-fabs in the country which is bigger than 15-floors. The avereage tall is 8 or 10 floors.
Many of these are long ones. I mean like 100 or 200 m long and 30 m tall pre-fabs.
It would look quite cool in SC4 to have 5 or 6 tiles long and 2 or 3 tiles wide pre fabs (5 or 10 floors tall).

I wouldn't also put anything on lots except the building. Some of the mayors prefer to create the sorrundings by themselves.

Good ol' Liberty Islands! Someday, I'll repost my old CJ.

I just wanted to thank You all SFBTers for a great job. SthephenHHs Hoheluft Bats are among the best W2Ws posted for quite a time. They grow every here and there in my cities and I would like to show You some of the places where the sims have built those houses in the city of Schinkelstadt:

    SHH2.jpg

    SHH3.jpg

    SHH4.jpg

The only complaint I have about those is that there is something wrong about the query tool. When You "?" them You hear the door bell alright but the query window is not opening. But that is a minor issue, they still look great!

    Thanks again and happy batting!

Hm, I love that, but that seems to bring me to the ever evolving issue of mine that the amsterdam w2w's are extremely overscaled! jesus, stephenhhh's stuff looks like miniatures next to it! 3.gif

@bokrif: I don't know how many types of pre-fabs exist, but there are indeed some taller buildings. Ch. P. is quite busy at the moment, but he has planned to create some more pre-fab types and sizes.

@Odd from Sweden: Thanks for the pictures! Although you have quite a lot of different W2W sets installed, it does look quite realistic. Do you have the SFBT Essentials installed? Without them, you won't get the query window. Some older SFBT lots have the query UI file included, but I recommend to install the SFBT essentials anyway, since they bring an updated version of the UI file, as well as some props and textures that are used on many SFBT lots.

Update notice: The SFBT Essentials have been updated to include files that will be used on upcoming lots. Please make sure to install the update before using any of the new lots. I also changed the installer program to make future updates easier. Unfortunately, it doesn't work on a Mac, so please download a ZIP version here.

Download SFBT Essentials may 2006 version from the STEX

Following in jeronij's footsteps, I'm currently developing another street tree mod, which has a similar concept, but a different approach. Rather than BATting new trees, I'm using the great trees created by Cycledogg (and possibly other designers as well later). My mod will be modular, so you can choose any tree type you want. I'm also applying jeronij's idea of parked cars along the curb, which is quite common in any European city. So far, I have made three different sets of props, which are shown in the following.

    sfbtstreettreemod02nx.jpg

    sfbtstreettreemod15uk.jpg

    sfbtstreettreemod27ez.jpg

    sfbtstreettreemod38he.jpg

As you can see, the trees are growing on the green strip in low density areas (where also the cars are parked), whereas medium and high density areas have dirt circles and parking lots. Other than jeronij, I also created some mods that put Cycledogg's trees on roads and oneway roads, as a replacement for the Maxis trees. For rural streets, there's also a mod that adds some trees.

    sfbtstreettreemod41yk.jpg

    sfbtstreettreemod97is.jpg

Not all users are playing in temperate climates, so I created new prop families for ponderosa pines as well as shore pines and pinyon pines. They will look great in any mountainous region, i. e. when using Pegasus' Mountain Development Kit, and of course when using the Columbus Terrain Mod.

    sfbtstreettreemod54ba.jpg

    sfbtstreettreemod63tp.jpg

    sfbtstreettreemod75wb.jpg

    sfbtstreettreemod81mx.jpg

More tree sets can be included easily, since all street tiles are using the same prop family ID. Just install any of the sets you like, and they will show up on your streets. They can be installed and uninstalled at any time, you only have to re-draw your streets to apply the new tree types (or the default Maxis ones).

ArkenbergeJoe posted the link to the German version (though it doesn't matter, since you only need the models), but here's the appropriate download from the STEX: https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=13797 https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=15792 (the link is also listed in the STEX description and in the readme file, which you haven't read to the end, as it seems 2.gif ).

Thank you for solving my problem. And please don't speak to me like an idiot... I already had the file that you directed me to, and I always make an effort to read the readme files... The files I needed were not included in the upload that you gave to the STEX but were on the simforum.de site.

My apologies... I must have copied the wrong link when I created the readme file for the highrise complex. This is the correct link for the 21 floor pre-fab buildings: https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=15792 I'll update the download as soon as possible. Thanks for pointing out the mistake, I should have checked the link earlier...

Like Odd from Sweden, I too want to show my appreciation to the SFBT team by posting a couple of pictures from Vodo-Varbinsk (a northern Rodinian town, very close to the Russian border):

Wow sepsis, that's incredible once again! You are probably one of the most active lot makers, although Rodina doesn't share its secrets with capitalist scum...^^

I wouldn't want to live there, either, but I bet it's pretty close to what many suburbs in parts of the former USSR look like... *shudder*

Andreas - that mod looks great - just a question - will Cycledoggs temperate broadleaf trees be seasonal or the evergreen versions?

As for all of the BATs - they are just superb! Stephenh's W2W stuff is so very classy - I really love it!

    @sepsis: Now that's a realistic pre-fab district! Great work indeed. 4.gif

@mattb325: For now, I'm only using the evergreen trees, but seeing that there is some demand for seasonal trees, I might release a seasonal tree mod later. However, they are not compatible to each other, since seasonal trees don't work well with prop families (the props are selected randomly, so you might end up with a spring oak that changes into a summer elm and then in a fall cottonwood). But I'm trying to make the seasonal mod modular as well, so you can install different tree sets for CycleDogg's seasonal trees, the ones by PEG, porkissimo and others.

    Happy birthday Andreas Roth!

    REQUEST:

Can you make a modified street mod where roadside or streetside parking bays (with their car props, of course) appear on all residental, commercial, and industrial zones, including ploppable buildiings?  Your street mod is great, and the trees are beautiful, but it needs a lot of modifications to get roadside parking bays on these zones... and I have very little time to deal with and edit the exemplars... there are too many to edit in a short amount of time.

    Thanks,

    Allan

@Allan: Heh, my time is limited as well. If someone would pay me for the work, then... 2.gif It took me a good amount of time to edit the exemplar files for residential streets (about 180 alone in this mod), so for the moment, it's not likely that I get a chance to touch any others soon. 46.gif Aside from the amount of work, adding parking bays (and trees) to industrial zones is quite unrealistic, at least for my European (German) eyes. And since I use streets almost exclusively for light commercial zones with the typical big-box retailers surrounded by huge parking lots, those are rather unrealistic as well. All downtown commercial zones in my cities have roads (and avenues) because of the traffic, but they are wider, so there's not enough room for parking bays (and the pedestrians would run directly into the parked cars).
