That is an absolutly beautiful residential area. You could use the steps you took building that as a tutorial on doing it right. Really nice work. A great mix of homes combined with the walking paths and the mass transportation. Unreal!

Hey, John!

Thanks for the link, I have seen that tower before but wasn't really sure what it was called, now I can use it in Palm Point as well. I have been working on something with the LE that I thought you would probably be interested in, it's PEG's naval ships into his Pond kit.

PEGtest1.jpg

Anyway, the suburbs look great, I love the usage of the GLR in the area, I'm sure the people around that area have a nice living! Picture 17 is amazing! That new rock mod looks excellent, and the tunnel looks nice along the rocks. Man, you are just detail happy. 18.gif

Great work! 44.gif

Brilliant Darmok, just brilliant!

I thought I posted a comment an update ago, but I can't find it! Strange. The forums have been playing up a bit, so maybe it didn't go through?

But anywho, I just adore your last two updates, some of the best I've ever seen. I'll just sit back now and stare at them! I just love the view master slides! They look fantstic, and so real! I thought they were real at first! You have such a skill at presentation.

The small town looks beautiful, and goes to show that you can build just about anything and make it look incredibly stunning!

The new rock mod looks just great, and I love your use of Peg's seasonal lots, I always thought they didn't look quite right in my cities, but I might try them again after seeing how well you have used them.

You have such a great variety in this CJ! Everything about it looks great, you are in my sig. You have so much skill, I can't believe it! 10.gif

Keep it up, and sorry for not replying very much!

Cheers good friend, choco

John,

Well my friend, another great one has come and gone.  You certainly choose a large area to work today.  First off, I love that Mall reward lot and can't wait to see what it does for the demand levels in this city and the surrounding cities...everything is bound to skyrocket! 19.gif  Just a quick question though...was it offered or did you get it through the cheat code? 2.gif

The El...I didn't really think that it fit totally with the GLR in your city.  I haven't had a chance to do any rebuilding because I still don't have all of my plugins installed yet since I had to reformat my computer.  Whew...next time I have to do something like that, I'm putting the plugins folder on to my 20g portable hard drive. 46.gif  Once I do have all of them back in, I'm going in and removing all of my El and replacing it with GLR, thanks to your inspiration. 29.gif

The whole area looks great.  I really like the housing that has developed around the GLR.  I also like the Holiday Inn Express...I've always thought that was an awesome BAT.

And, like everyone else I too would like to know which rock mod you are now using... 29.gif

Great work my friend... keep em coming... 44.gif

Hey Darmok.

The new sector looks amazing. The GLR line is layed out nicely. That avenue underpass looks beautiful (especially with the new rock mod). I also like the subdivisions within that green environment, a very nice touch.

Great job with the little details such as the billboards along the avenue in your last picture.

Take care.

- Phil

PS: Some chocolates? I hope you don't have high blood pressure... 2.gif

another fantastic update !

great use of the GLR, I see that this transportation method is very used in almost every city.  And, after reading the development thread for the GLR, I can say that it has a great future ... just like your CJ 19.gif

nice work 44.gif

The glr setup will be modified a bit more in that res sector, but will remain the focal point. I just tried to make it more effective.
Thanks for you kind words and see you!

    Shadow_Assassin
he he he, thanks S_A, as for the undistilled eye candy I should have asked Ol' Maggot, for some help! 2.gif

    Deathtoall
Thanks DTA, Well that's the look I was trying to get, I'm not into skyscraper forest, I just wanted something more relaxed!
Thanks for your good support buddy!

    pvarcoe
Thanks Pvarcoe, and you're right about it being unreal! cause I don't know of a city in RL who would invest so massively in cycleways! Though it would be really nice if they did! Take care!

    bazzuka
Hey bazzuka! Yes it can be quite long to prepare the land, sometimes it's even longer than all the rest, I've learned it by watching Jeronij working! And the end result is more satisfying this way IMO.
Thanks for the welcome to page 63 man.
    Take care

    Jacky
Hey Jacky, thanks for your encouragements girl!

    Dan
    Hey Dan,
I just hope I did kept it! (the view master)
As for the barfly joke well, you know that it takes one to know one hey! 18.gif BTW nice DeNiro impersonation man! I thought for a minute I was in Taxi driver! oh, and I almost forgot here's your pint!
    The update:
Yeah well I didn't had much of a choice, the EL didn't had ANY 30.gif custommers left! They all took the glr, and curiously enough, the glr station near the main EL station (St-Nardo's) is practically not used at all! The usage begins with the second station, the sims don't like to switch from one rail to another! And the reserved land for the mall is the RLS Mall Reward lot, and curiously enough even if I exceeded all the requirements, it never grew! (probably that the promoter declare bankrupty 18.gif). The new rock mod is : Peg Limestone found in  PEG ROCK MOD 1
As for the relaxing thing! I can't be more relaxed than this!
Thanks my friend and enjoy the coming week!

    Chris
Hey man, thanks for those great comments! and as for the rock mod see the link in my answer to Dan. Hummm ships in a pond! It'll take a mighty pond 18.gif, seriously waiting to see more about those! Perhaps it could be used to simulate a dry dock!
I'm still learning about using the GLR, and more and more I like it!
    See you in Palm Point!

    chocolatemax285
Choco, Thanks for those great compliments man. Always good to know that what we do is appreciated! And I really appreciate you putting a link in your sig! As for the Peg seasonal woods I think they're really great!
    Again thanks, and take care!

    pikatchoum
Glad you appreciated it Pika! always good to read you!
    Take care

    metasmurf
Glad you liked it metasmurf, and I hope you'll like this one as well!

    Jason

Well, yes it was a large area, but not that difficult to do, mostly low density res. and some cycleways. Unfortunately, the mall will never grow, even if not long after plopping it, I exceeded all requirements! Or perhaps I had to do something more and I didn't know what!. And yes it was offered (no cheat). The EL in combination with the GLR is not yet something I can master. Still a lot to learn about those two together! Glad to know that I can be a source of inspiration my friend. And if you find some useful tricks with the GLR don't forget to tell us! As for the rock mod you'll find the link in Dan's answer just above.
Thanks for your constant support Jason, I really appreciate your comments and suggestions!
    Take care

    PhilsCafe
Hey Phil, first of all thanks for the chocolate, I just love the stuff (the real one there you know at least 70% cocoa) hummmmm!
Thanks for the good comments, and as Chris said before, sometimes I can be detail happy! 18.gif Seriously, the idea behind those billboards was just that I thougt that the promoter would like to advertise the comming of his projected Mall.
    Take care my friend

    El_Lobo
Hi Lobo, At first I was not that gung-ho about using the GLR even if I found it very usefull. It's just that I have no personnal knowledge of how it's used in RL, none whatsoever! So I was kind of affraid to do it all wrong. But I think it grew on me and now I really like using it, the only things missing would be some diagonal pieces to go under highways.
Thanks for your kind words and take care!

Great update as usual. I like especially the pic with the two briges. I normally let the bridge begin close to the water but here it struck me that the terrain is going down slowly to the water with the bridge above it - just great!

WoW - amazing work as usual - you have me salivating 25.gif over a few BATS - in particular the house in 04 and 05!

Keep up the wonderful work! Do you have a recent region view up? 9.gif

Stunning work! Yet another great update. I really liked the design of a highschool, it looked incredibly realist and very unique. You sculpt your region so carefully and precicely, your towns look so realistic and like they have developed over many years. In a natural way. 44.gif Your updates are always fun to read and each time there is something different and amazing.

Keep it up, and I look forward to more from the king of detail! 18.gif

Another bit of great work there John... I like the overlay of the whole area.  I also like the Sears you plopped in there.  Sears is one of the biggest retailers in our area.

My most favorite part of the update though was the school.  I like how you combined the sports facilities and Jeroni's paths with the school.  The only thing that could have added to that little area would have been a football stadium.  Who knows...I've actually been thinking of doing a huge school complex modelled after my alma matter, including the sports fields.

Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention about the blast from the past you gave us a few updates ago... my View Master was the red one, not black.  I remember one of my very first disks was Star Wars.  Man, if only I could find that stuff now it would be worth a fortune to a collector... 8.gif15.gif  Oh well...I can always dream. 2.gif

Great work again my friend... keep em coming... 44.gif

I love the high school, (wish I could go there 3.gif) The suburbs look brilliant, especially when used in conjunction with those PEG Seasonal Tree lots!

You really make me want to go play SC4 again! 44.gif

Brilliant update again! I am running out of words to discribe this beautiful CJ, so I might just sit back and stare at them!

Stunning, just stunning, you ever stop amazing me and I really cannot wait for the south side to be developed, the north side is so detailed and perfectly designed, I really look forward to seeing how you develop the other side!

I love the GLR, and the melting looked cool! Oh and that mosaic was just fantastic!! 29.gif

PS: Thanks, for the parades I used the lot editor, its pretty simple really, just a fake lot which is pieced together from many different props, and many sim props, to create a nice eye candy set. 2.gif

    Great updates Darmok.

It's about the second time that I see a train on your GLR network. Looks nice. I also like the high school in update 22. Seems like a good environment for the kids there with the sports facilities and green spaces. That suburban area is nicely layed out.

The GLR modifications in your last update are good ones. I especially like the additional park trails that were made possible with that modification. I liked the update. Not to forget the Calenhad update. I loved it, it has got character.

    Take care.

    John,

Great update my friend...I *cough cough* like the *sneeze*...sorry, have a bad cold and my head is swimming. 14.gif46.gif

Anyway...I just gotta say that I love the visual effects you put on that bridge...that was just too cool! 16.gif  The GLR looks to have been placed in a great location.  But, I do have to wonder...did you actually offer to pay the residents more than what their property was worth like a popular mayor would, or did you just take it through eminent domain and kick them to the curb with a little bit more than pocket change from the AVR government? 42.gif2.gif

In either case, totally necessary! 17.gif  The final overviews look great.  Now, on to the south shore.  Who knows...<shameless plug> maybe like MrCinatit you'll have an RJM Designs sector on the south shore </shameless plug>  Oh wait, did I just type that?  Must be the fact that my head is swimming from being sick...totally disconnected and floating feeling...yeah, that's it! 2.gif17.gif

Nice job my friend... keep em coming... 44.gif

    I am here again!

Wowdidlediedee.... again a lot of updates 46.gif

Great development that residential area, it is turning nicely into a friendly suburb.
Good that the old railroad bridge was dismolished. The metal scrap dealer would be pleased, probably one of those R$$$ buildings that popped up in the surburb is his 48.gif
    I have two remarks.
    1. the cycleway goes under the road towards the college. Then it goes up the stairs towards the tennsi courts.... ATB bikes?
    2. That cubicle monument in front (or back) of the GLR station. I would have that beatiful building come out more and have those trees around it cut. Well at least around the 4 corners of the cubicle I would reccommend grass in stead of trees.

    Cherio.

Like the screen with the destoyed bridge, funny effect! 3.gif
I'm each time very stunned by yoour residential area, especially the low density and the medium one!!With the trees, and the tramway it's fabulous!!

Hey John........sorry for my absence over the past few updates.....I feel terrible....

Anyway, I really like what you are doing with the GLR all around the area.

Great job with the High School and the sports facilities that came along with it....I also really like the placement of the Church and the Darmok style parking provided2.gif

The cycleways are looking great throught the area and for some reason, the bridge approach in pic 04 of the most recent update caught my eye.  It looks really cool there...not sure why, but hey, who need a why?

Calenhad looks like it is gonna be a nice relaxing place to visit.....

Ah, finally I caught up with this CJ... only took me about two and a half months, too. Read everything way too carefully I guess 2.gif.

Just absolutely fantastic work, overall. And congrats on making it this far, it's truly a huge commitment to undertake even a smallish region like this one and building/developing it fully and to such an amazing detail AND to regularly record it all to a no less visually appealing CJ. Don't think I could do the same. Respect 44.gif.

You know, you were my inspriration to pick up the game and start playing again after I found this site (+it's mods, bats & lots) and started reading your CJ. You really know how to make them cities come to life 19.gif.

Anyway, keep up the good work, looking forward on seeing more...
