I just have to say outsatnding. The best and most realistic looking city I've ever seen, giving me inspiration and new ideas for my own "Commerce City". Just four questions: where did you get those lights in the industrial sector that you seem to plop in to light it all up. Second, where did you get those cul-de-sacs? And three, where did you get that thing where the avenue goes underneath the rail. One last question, those big towers building next to the courthouse; are those in the game or did you download them. Just message me the links or whatever if you want to. Great job again- I'm going to work on mine right now.

Hey Bruce. Hot Cocoa suggestion taken seriously and was appreciated! I'm really nuts about all that is chocolate related! Hummmm....

BTW snow is now totally melted, save a few spots under some evergreens.

    PhilsCafe

    Hey Phil,

Well let me say that if that was a snow mod, the game would be buried under 12 feet of snow! hehehe

I guess I've seen enough snow for now... until next december that is... as if I had a choice!

Hoping all is going well for you, and that we'll read each other in SC4D

    Bye for now!

    Take care

    Hey Kyle,

About the hot summers, that's one thing we have in common, we often have heat waves that goes up to 36 and 38 celcius (98 to 100 farenheit) if only we could have kind of an average of 24 celcius (75 farenheit) all year long instead of jumping from minus 40 to plus 38!!

sigh.... I wont hold my breath for this one!

    See ya

    Benedict

    Hey Ben,

The trench is gone by now... THANK GOD...

I've just finished to clean (a part of) the backyard.

And had to stop on account of the rain. (I hope the rain won't replace the snow and that we'll have some sun at some point!)

    Take care my friend!

    -John

    Sobol,

Thanks fo the bump Sobol, nice gesture.

Sorry that I don't have any fresh pictures. The only thing I'm doing those last weeks is playing my guitar when I have the time. (RL at its best I guess...)

Hope al is well for you!

    Take care.

    Silur

    Hey Nicks,

    Hehehe...

I'm not sleeping, just taking a nap!

Seriously, I guess I need a break from the game for a while, but I'm not forgetting any of my SC4 buddies, don't worry.

BTW are you watching the World Hockey Championship that is taking place in Québec this year...

    here's a link

    Thanks for your kind words!

    Cumodius

    Hi cumodius

    Thanks for your good words.

    Here's some answers.....

    Question 1

Industrial lights. I think what you're talking about is this:

Highway Light Towers V2 by The Great Chozo

    Question 2

    Cul de sac

Street Cul de sac mod by Qurlix

    Question 3

The avenue/rail underpass is a marrast piece here's the link

    Question 4

As for the buildings, please specify the page, update number and picture number so I know which one you're talking about. And I'll do my best to give you a link. (Hoping I'll remember the name of the BATS)

    To all

Sorry for the lack of pictures lately, but I guess I'm on kind of an SC4 sabbatical right now

but sooner or later I'll be back, SimCity always has been, and still is my favorite game.

    See you next time!

    Take care and enjoy life!

    Hi John!

I must say it is a bit lonely here at the top after the end of AVR ...

    ... just joking... 18.gif

... but I still do miss my Rfiday pleasure to see the next update.

Me I am still as lazy as you know me (with some exceptions ...)

    Take care my friend!

All is well for me and my fam. We are moving to the east coast in a few weeks, so that is exciting. I plan to turn the basement into an exercise/playroom... and Simcity will be running the background when I work out. Any chance that you could take snapshots of various parts of the Anduin and post them up... your favorite ones?

By the way, I finally got the two giant regions open... it was amazing.

PAGE # 165 of GREAT AVR CJ - WELCOME ...

    Hi, John ...

We are this year Hockey Champions ... This is a great surprise for me ...

Cool final game Russia - Canada ...,

sure, I know - HNL is a great league in the world with excellent players from the whole world !

Ovechkin is the best today ...

We can see many NHL games today in real time (or about it).

I'm so old - I remember Canada (Hull, Esposito, Clarke, Henderson, Cournoyer and many others ..) - USSR games serial of 1972 ...,

I was a young man in 1972 and this was a first time -  I saw real Canadian schoolboys delegation in my Moscow school ... We spoke about hockey only ...

    Pitifully - SC4 only from 2003 ...

Later CSKA - Montreal Canadiens, CSKA - Phila Flyers, etc.

Best wishes and waiting Your AVR updates ...

    Thank You ...

I am glad to see it appears that the recent issues have not harmed AVR (as far as I can tell). Hopefully it will stay that way for years to come. I would like to thank the admins around here for what must have been a herculean task in getting everything back to normal. I don't think I've stopped by for a while, but since it seems that 3RR might be taking a bit of time to get going, I wanted to swing by here and see how you've been. Hope all is well, and I hope to see you around more when 3RR kicks off (looks like it will be soon though).

    Hi Bernhard,

Glad to read you my friend, By the way, saw your picture the other day at SC4D! Your little one is growing fast!

And even if he wasn't smiling your smile was wide enough for both of you, hehehe...

    See you!

    John

    sobol

    Hey Sobol

That's not a bad idea.... really revisiting AVR and trying to take shots that I didn't take before... hummm... I'll look into it!

Glad you could open the big region pictures.

    Take care.

    Silur

Hey Silur, thanks for the welcoming message

Sad to say that, even if it was held here in Québec, I followed the World Hockey Championship through the newspaper, and through one of my friend who went to the games, he had tickets for the finale too! I must admit that he was disappointed by the result, but Russia played a good game and in the end the best team won.

You speak of the 1972 series... I watched it also, on TV though, not in person, was a bit strange for us, all those strange names, Kharlamov (my favorite on the Russian side), Tretiak, Mikhailov, Petrov,.... that was the begining of a new era in hockey! What a serie! I was also quite young at that time, barely finishing my high school.... Oh well...

    Great memories.

    Take care

    mightygoose

    Hi John,

AVRR huh.... as I said to Sobol, it's not a bad idea, I'll certainly explore the concept... perhaps even change some setups... who knows!

    See you!

    threestooges

    Hi Matt,

Well, AVR was harmed in some ways, all the pictures that were hosted in site (on the Simtrop servers) have been lost or their links changed... See comment at the end of this post.

As for 3RR, I don't know when it'll start, but, knowing David, it'll start when every possible details are in place! ;-)

    Good to read you

    Take care

    -John

    To all

Following the attacks on Simtropolis, it appears that the pictures who were hosted on the Simtrop servers are missing. In the following weeks, I'll try to re-upload the missing pics to Image Shack and then repair the links. I'll keep you informed of my progress.

In the mean time, if you have any questions, and/or suggestions, do not hesitate to have your say.

    Take care everyone.

    -John

John- Good luck with the restoration.  I have some of AVR archived, but I'm not 100% sure whether I could separate the pics from the text in the format I used.  I am now archiving the whole thing, regardless.

If I can do anything at all...

    David

Good luck with the restoration, John... I was lucky with my new journal because there were only 3 pages to restore. But I'm not sure about Acorn Creek, I'll probably leave it as it is (that kinda belongs to its history too).

    Take care my friend!

    Hey Jacky!

Well I'll go easy on the restoration thing, hoping to do it slowly but surely!

Ben, thanks for the pat on the back my friend!

David, thanks a bunch, fortunately I have archived AVR regularly, saving the complete web pages, I even have the old simtropolis design for AVR's beginning! I really do appreciate your offer, but knowing all you're doing these days, I'll let you off the hook!

    See you in 3RR.

    Take care,

    Phil,

Well as I said to Jacky, don't hold your breath, I'll do the restoration bit as a pet project, no deadline involved! Hoping all is well for you!

    Take care

    To all

No new AVR pics, but almost finished restoring page 1.

    Hello John,

Nice pics! I really enjoyed all of them, especially the panoramic shot. The dumpster didn't detract from the rest of the picture much at all. 2.gif Riding a bike around there must've been great fun! When I ride my bike, there isn't really much to see, unfortunately. One of these days I ought to ride on a coastline or mountainside trail.

Good luck on the restoration efforts, too. 9.gif

    John,

Glad to hear that whatever losses there were, repairs will be relatively painless. Great pics of Québec. I think I recognize that tall structure on the hill (the one above you in the third pic sticking slightly out of the top) I think I had a puzzle of it. One of those 3-D things. Never knew where it was from (the building... I got the puzzle in Reno). So with that said, Happy Birthday Québec! Here's to 400 more.

Good to hear from you, and you don't have to lose weight, though if you want, just take that ride a little further. Just getting out there is a great way to clear the head. Right now I live around Costa Mesa, and will occasionally bike to the Huntington Beach pier (something around 20mi (32km) round trip). But I digress (as usual). Take it easy, and I'll talk to you later.

    Hey guys.

Since those last pictures, we've seen lots of good shows, biked some more, had a fishing trip...the fish are still laughing by the way.. but we had a great time anyhow.

Owen - Thanks we sure having a great summer, lots of activities here for the 400th anniversay, we even had Paul McCartney doing a open air concert! Over 270,000 person on "Les plaines d'Abraham" came from all over the world to see the show.

Kyle - Glad you enjoyed the pics, here's one more from a reverse perspective.. you can see in the green circle where we were on the pier

    vieuxquebec0028hw0.jpg

Here's one of "La Terrasse Dufferin" where that last pic was taken

    vieuxquebec0032yr9.jpg

And here's one of "Le Chateau Frontenac" from another angle

    vieuxquebec0024nx2.jpg

Matt - Yeah well the only pain will be the reuploading and correcting the posts... which, I'm affraid will take longer than expected... but I'm in no hurry so!

As for the puzzle you're talking about was made by a Quebec company named "Wrebbitt" and you probably know one of their designers... who is none other than "Pinchman" who posted several times in AVR as well as in 3RR at SC4D! Small world isn't it?

    Good to hear from you!

    Take care

sobol - I'll see what I can do my friend!

winchester1 - I'm really glad if I can be a source of inspiration, as for the water flora, you'll find part of them at gizmo's site

and also there are great rocks and reef there

goldiva Mayor Mode Tropical Sea Set

    hoping this will hep you.

    Have fun

To all enjoy the rest of the summer!

    Take care

Having lived on the St. Lawrence myself (Waddington, New York), I have no hesitation about saying that it may well be the most beautiful and interesting of the world's great rivers. Wonderful pics, John! I found myself transported back to a place I love.

    Salut John.

I have finished my exams and hopefully I can find some SC4 playing time now. The weather isn't exactly great right now, so I'm optimistic 4.gif. Although I wouldn't mind the weather to get better before school starts again...

    Take care my friend!
