Hey John,

It is.. it is... Truly fantastic!

The terraforming process is quite similar to the process I usually do. It's quite boring to do it in such a big area, however, the effects are worth all the work. The farms look really great, especially with your trails! I love how everything is.. connected now. I always wondered how a big farming area will look in AVR, how you're going to do it. Now, I'm not disappointed at all.

The last mosaic is so great. Water tower, flowers, train. Everything that you need to make a perfect mosaic 2.gif

Again, you're striking with superb job John, I'm looking forward to more!

Well, RL has kept me busy as well, but I have time tonight to comment. The update on the last page with the freight station area was awesome! And one of your captions caught my attention:

15zzup05avanorienpiczzrw9.jpg

quote>

He got me for that, too, in my CJ! Oh well; I guess you can't help it if you know so much about railroads like he does and the little details just bother you so much.

As for the above update, I really liked those two pics with the water tower; good thinking! And your trails up against your farms look awesome as well!

Unlike you, I haven't been able to play SC4 this week, so I have to rely on images from the game for now to keep me going, and your images are definitely keeping me going (and this goes for the other CJs out there that I follow as well).

I look forward to more!

Ah. It reminds me of the good days of my lurker days marveling at Ralston....wonderful farms, Darmok. Though you've created something absoutely unique here. 48.gif

I love the fall scenery along with everything else...

Interesting choice for a water tower on the last picture. 2.gif

See ya!

Sorry for lurking on the last few pages. 3.gif

Those domes look like aliens space ships. Odd, those are the same domes in Jeroni's CJ! They are invading all the CJs! 4.gif

Hi again Darmok,

Wow...simply wow.  I just finished reading your entire CJ up to this point and just want to tell you that you have done a spectacular job with everything.  I love that your cities are not always gigantic metropolises and that you have been able to get rural cities to flourish.  I have learned a great deal from how your terraform the land and cannot wait to impliment it into my cities.  I am definately going to keep reading this journal for as long as you keep it going.

I also noticed that Darklord asked for where your mini-tutorials are and that you do not have a table of contents for your CJ.  So...I made one for you and every other reader of your journal.  Feel free to repost it whenever and wherever you want.  Here it is:

Page 1:  Introduction, Beginning of Anduin Valley, and Founding of Minas Tirath
Page 7:  Founding of Belfalas, and How Darmok makes a Harbor
Page 10:  Mini-Tutorial on Basic Harbor Terraforming and Construction

That just about covers it, I think.  If I missed something I apologize, but it should all be there.  I am looking forward to your next update Darmok!  4.gif

Hey John. Well what can I say. Another nifty tutorial on how to create a beautiful farming community. It's good to see you working with the land and not totally obliterating it. Too many journals I have seen should learn by your example. The only minor complaint I have is to change the base texture of the Water Tower lot to a dirt one to match the dirt road comming into it. But that is only a small thing

Take care..

Thanks Bat, always good to see you!

    VesterDK - VDK Showcase

    Hey Arne,

Thanks my friend! One can never miss when using SimGoobers water tower!

    Nik-nik

    Hey Nik!

First you were last, and at last you're (almost) first! (Does that make sense???)

Anyhow... camelwise... I think that they're plotting to take over the world.... the way they look at you... hummm... beware!

Fridays are good days to have metaphysical discussions don't you think?? (this is written friday 29, on my lunch hour)

Hoping you had a great week!

    Take care

    Your_adress_herel

    Hi YAH,

    Always good to read you!

    Take care my friend.

    wouanagaine - SC4 Terraformer a tool for regional hand-terraforming

    Hehehe... salut wouanagaine!

Glad you liked it! I really have fun while doing those rural setups!

    Take care

    Aleking - AK's Watchamacalllt CJ !

Hey Alek, my friend don't underrate your rural talents, let the critics do that for you  2.gif ,

I'd really like to see how you would do it, I'm sure that I'll take several tricks from your setups!

See you later in "whatever name you'll find next for your CJ"

    Take care

Mayormommy - Nightmare Islands: Life on all levels

Hey MM, farmers in Anôrien are a generous bunch, they let you ride on their farms practically anytime. So ride 'em cowboy! erm... I meant cowgirl of course!

    See you!

    Rhéal – rw0381c

    Salut Rhéal,

It's a pleasure my friend, and I believe that almost all CJ'ers (including me of course), are all a bit show offs by nature! Hehehehe... Enjoy your weekend!

    Jacky (jacqulina) - Paradise Falls

    Hi lassie,

If you have any problems with the rural trails, just PM me, I'll see what I can do to help.

As for the farms choice in your CJ, your choice is always the best choice in the end, because YOU are doing the work/play in Paradise Falls. The gate idea is really good! I wonder if we could find the right prop??? hummm.... I think I'll look into this!

    Enjoy your weekend my friend!

David (dedgren) - Three Rivers Region

Lawyers..... they're really good with referencing everything!  2.gif

Now will we see eskimos in 3RR???

    Hola Sylvio

Sometimes not finding the words is like finding a lot of them amigo, thanks for the compliment!

    Salud!

    Crazychickensc12 - Trinity River Valley - TRV

    Hi CC,

Thanks man, as for the slope mod, I'll PM you. And I guess that even with a slope mod you often have to tweak the terrain anyway.

    See you soon!

    ThomasAH - Zorturia

Hey Thomas, no problem with that my friend, I certainly can understand. Take all the time necessary. After all this is not supposed to be a chore, it's supposed to be a pleasure!

    Take care!

Owen (Yoman3) - United Republic of Ankara

Hey Owen, you still get the brown box! That surprise me! You sure you have everything (god knows there's a whole lot of 'em) even the last one Farm fences by Suico !!

Anyhow I sure hope you'll find whats missing, keep me informed if you find the solution!

    Take care

    John - Mightygoose

    Hey John,

Thanks, and about Gandalf.... well... he can always surprise you and appear when you least expect it!

    Hi Robin,

Thanks man, and see you in Xania!

    Waz_Up_Tiger

    Welcome to Anduin Valley Tiger,

    glad you appreciate AVR

    come back anytime you like!

    beto_080480

    Hi beto,

    Welcome to Anduin Valley!

I must tell you that before reading Dan's (Dhopeii) La Plaisance County , and Bernhard's (Nardo69) Urland , I was not into rural setups either, it's by seeing how good they were at it that I finally was bitten by the rural bug! And since then I really enjoy doing rural setups a lot more!

So by all means, give it a try, and don't be afraid to experiment, the solution is often just a click away!

Come back anytime you feel like it the door's always open!

    Take care

Daniel - Shadow_Assassin - Ensenada - That City in the east

    Hi Daniel,

My trip to Montreal went very well, jammed a lot with my cousin, went book shopping on sunday! Had good wine good food! Perfect weekend!

And you, having good feelings about your exams or.... mehhhh...  2.gif

    Good to see you!

    Take care

HamsterTK - Run for your Life

    Hey Hamster,

    Thanks!

    Menotyou

    Thanks Menotyou!

    Szarkoz - Everon Metro Area

    Hi Tomek,

Well terraforming sometimes can be a tedious job! But the end result is often satisfying so!

Glad you appreciate it, and looking back at those pics, some ideas are beginning to point their noses! Maybe.... hummm...

I'll have to fire up the LE again...

See you in Everon my friend, take care

    Dark Lord

    Thanks DL!

Craig - (Cityhawk) - Wannabe County

hehehe, yeah Bernhard is our resident expert on railways! And I value his input, myself having no practical railway knowledge but the fact I played Railroad Tycoon!

I've only played SC4 a bit lately, most of my free time goes to my guitar practice. But I think it's helping me having some new ideas, just the fact of "stepping out" of the game for a while is not a bad thing!

So in the meantime here's more of Anôrien.

    Take care

Special Eddie - Oasis--The Wild West

    Hey Eddie!

Now that's a great compliment my friend, Meinhosen's Ralston has always been on of my favorite CJ's! I hope that one day Meinhosen will revive it! He's another one who's great with railroads!

    Thanks for the thought!

    Take care

    Micah - Kingwood

    Hi Micah,

Lurk all you want my friend there's no problem with that!

    See you!

    Going2Chicago

    Hi G2C,

Hey long time no see! How are you doing?

    Thanks for stopping by!

    PDQAg

I don't know what to say!

That's one of the nicest thing I've seen in AVR so far.... 19.gif

I really appreciate what you've done PDQ! I've been wanting to do something like that for a long time and never took the time to do it!

The Anduin Valley Council convened a special session to discuss this good deed and came to the conclusion that it deserves something special, so due to this unselfish action please read what follows!

    Hey Fallon,

Thanks man, and I think that sometimes I maybe going too much in details, but I just can't help it! WINK

    Take care

    Sorchin – Developping Macedon

    Hi Steve,

Thanks mate, yeah I agree a dirt texture is a great idea! Haven't thought of that one! I'm sure it'll blend in more naturally... **sighs** OK..... let's open the LE once more! WINK

Seriously good call on this one, I'll follow up on it.

And glad to know your arm is getting better!

    Take care

Benedict - The Mayors of Ellis Valley

What! You don't like Wilbur and Philbur's names! I'm hurt... WINK

NAAHHHH! I could have named them Jack and Zak or Moe and Joe.... well you get the drift, but in the hobbit tradition I felt that Wilbur and Philbur were more adequate, though I would never have named my sons like this! hehehe...

See you later in Ellis Valley!

    Your_adress_herel

    That's fall for you!

You really are great people, you amaze me! Still there, always an encouraging word, some witty repartee, an acute observation or suggestion... How can one not be grateful!

Thanks to all of you, you're making this CJ worthwhile and still fun to do.

And here's a little food for thought from Lao-Tseu (or Lao Zi):

"If you think that education is expensive, try ignorance."

On this accurate statement, I bid you farewell till next friday!

    In the meantime

Take care and enjoy life 10.gif

Wow Darmok your agricultural areas are simply breath-taking! The agricultural zones are laid out veyr nice and the rural trails are a perfect complement for these areas!

And I like the way you present your CJ, which does not only include the beautiful areas of your city but also the process of planning and constructing the city. This is exceptionally benefitial to many of us and city planners as sometimes when we run out of creativity and ideas we can take a peek at your CJ and get some inspiration.

This is awesome and keep up the good work Darmok! 44.gif

Another great set of pics.  I like how you lay out your area and the prep work.  The land is never too flat, but smoothe.  The farm looks great also.  You have found some really nice lots.  Soon I'll be on to some farm areas in my region and I'll have to come back here and do some studying, if you don't mind of coarse.  I would like to steal some of your great ideas.  You must be the King of the farming community.  You build the best looking farms.

Have a great holiday weekend and I'll see you next time.

    Bye for now........

I am glad that I caught you just before leaving. I have to take care of my 3 kids all by my self this weekend -Stop Whining you whimp, you go off to your mother anyway - well anyway tonight.

Nice update. I love to see those rural trails in action. But something went wrong on pic 02.

    Very nice that Before/Aftre pic!!

    That cycleway smells like lavender.

That last pic....... I started a call to the modders to help out with the diagonal road. I see in that last pic some curfews along the diagonal road. Not good! Wonder what you will make of it.

    Have a great weekend.

    Hey John,

Normal I prefer city development instead of rural development, but this rural area looks amazing! I wonder how the farms will develop in the last pic, the rural trails looks great!

Woah! Very cool here this morning! Had to scrape the ice from the windshield...quote>

Is it already freezing out there!? LOL, here in The Netherlands it's still over 15 degrees and a bit rainy...

Hello John. I absolutly love this farming community. It is easy to see you have spent much time and care with this whole area. And to think a few updates ago this area was virtually empty. The only thing I would consider adding is your "diagonal roads" tile fillers on the last pic to get rid of the jagged look by the main road..

    Well done my friend..

Now about that update. I love what you did with SA's cycle trails. I think I have his earlier set without the amazing curves so I'll try to find the one you have. The farms and stuff look great 44.gifagain and so does the train station. Cant wait for some more!18.gif
