Hey Darmok. I like your use of the cycle ways along the coastline and the way they cross the river. Great detail work. The park at the Mayor's house looks fantastic.

    Welcome to Anduin Valley, Chicago!
Do come back anytime you want, and thanks for your appreciation!

    Pika
Thanks for the comments Pika, merci et passe un bonne semaine!

Yeah I agree about the ferry problem, but as it is on a little river I don't mind. The Deadwood Indor sport center does work without problems, probably the fact that an hospital is near must help. I have some problems with the Gentleman health club though 30.gif even with a MAXED out budget AND no funding for the ambulance to reduce it's radius, and even if I've build another hospital nearby, it's number of patient is skyrocketing while the hospital with a maxed out budget and a maxed out ambulance funding to encompass the Health Club radius has practicaly no patient at all!!! So from time to time when I'm tired of hearing the strikers, I just blast it 11.gif and rebuild it!

    Have a great week!

    Thanks man!

Well, it won't be a highrise neighborhood, just look below and see what've happenned. And no I won't spend my time at the mansion, I'm not a jetset kind of guy! I'd rather go to the pub listening to a good band while sipping a good stout!
As for the terraforming skills, it's all Jeroni's fault! he made me do it 18.gif, before seeing Columbia river, I wasn't into terraforming, well just a bit sometimes. It's just a question of patience (wich is a good lesson for me, being of Irish descendance and a bit of an impatient person by nature). Whew.... long answer! Ok down from the soapbox 2.gif
Thanks for your support yaptswai and have a good week!

    sandra
Hey Sandra, 18.gif, yeah, well, I was kind of hoping that I wasn't responsible for that sleeping problem! What a relief 2.gif.
Can't wait to see what you were working on! Please do tell when it'll be available 19.gif. Thanks for the extra point, I'll save it, one day it may be handy.
    Take care Sandra.

    Dan
Goin good my man, goin good!
Well you know what they say about bad jokes, it's a dirty job but... etc. etc. and I'm stuck with that job, what can I say, when that guy in the funny red suit asked me to sign that contract with my blood I shoulda said no. 11.gif (there you see I just can't stop, it's a curse!) 2.gif
The connection lot for the bridge would indeed be a great addition! as for the big terraforming project, it's not that big, see for yourself in the update. And for the club I guess that great minds think alike, you'll also see that in the update. 2.gif
And the cliffhanger bit is a remnant of Jeroni's influence I guess 18.gif
Always great to read you my friend, have a great week too!

    John,

Osgiliath is really looking good.  I like how with this city, you have seperated many of the larger and more ritzy residential developments with Jeroni's fences.  This really lends a realistic look to the city, much like large fenced in yards.

And of course, the cycleways are a really excellent touch...especially connecting to the sports center.  Nice Touch.

Oh...and I can't forget the best and most important part of the last two updates...  HEF HAS COME TO TOWN!!  ( my wife would kill me if she heard me say that!! 11.gif17.gif )

Anyway...  great work... I think I love this city the most so far out of all of your cities... keep em coming!! 44.gif

Sorry about the double post, but I forgot something this morning, so here it goes....

    avc_important_mess.jpg

    Hear ye, hear ye!
The Anduin Valley Council wants to announce the coming of two more citizens. The last weekend, the visitors known as Sorchin and Yaptswai, reached the level of citizen.
So it is with great pleasure that the Council gives to Sorchin and Yaptswai their own and genuine Anduin Valley passport!
Steve and Yaptswai receive them, and may they serve you well. 44.gif

    Jason
Well, allright, about Hef, we won't say a word. 2.gif
I thought that this could be a great place for a posh sector, with the cycleways, the park, and the mayors house nearby.
I guess I'm a bad judge when it comes to my own work, cause I'm still not very satisfied with Osgiliath. But then again are we ever satisfied? 42.gif

    Take care!

All I can say is thank you. I'm really glad that you like it! Cause like I said to Jason, I was not that pleased with my work in Osgiliath so far. 20.gif

    Take care.

Hi John: I'm honored my friend. I think i'ts rather funny after checking out your last update that it would be cool to live in one of those homes with the custom made pool and patio29.gif And lo-and-behold.. you have allowed me to do so43.gif. That's amazing my friendd. Thanks so much44.gif

The small long colorful buildings (I'm assuming they are spanish) in the first pic by the EL are very beautiful. I like the single narrow long row building look.29.gif
the custom wealthy homes in this update are very well thought out. They blend in beautifully with everything around them. I never thought I would use the bike trails in my CJ but watching how you have improved upon them with each update it seems I have changed my mind. You have given me some neat ideas44.gif. Once again your parking lots are so well thought out. You think of everything don't you9.gif
I'm looking forward to more my good friend.
Take care and have a great day John29.gif44.gif

I thought that Osgiliath was supposed to be a problem city for you, lol. It looks very good so far.

The cycleways look great and give a touch of reality to the city. There are lots of them in my hometown.
I also really like the way you have used trees and parks around and between the buildings to open up the area and give it some breathing space. The carpark surrounded by jeronji's fences is a very nice detail.
Have a nice week and keep up the good work!

Hey, John (Haven't actually called you John yet because I'm so used to calling you Darmok 5.gif)

Anyway, very nice updates. I love the realistic idea of making the high school with the football field and parking. Reminds me very much of my own. 44.gif

Next one, I'm still liking the cycleways through out the cities and how nice they look with combination of jeronij's parking lots. The mayor's house area looks like such a nice place to live with the different park lots and the roundabout.

I really like the hospital with the Sports center. Looks like a nice place to enjoy while overlooking the river.

    Excellent work, my friend.

John my friend....great looking update.  The first thing that caught my eye, which BTW is something you didn't seem to highlite, was the residential apartment buildings next to the elevated rail line.  I don't recall seeing them earlier and I must say that they really seem to work for me.  I see the cycleway's continue throughout the area.  Do you really need a hospital with all those healthy cycling sims42.gif2.gif  The museum looks really great, but once again the palms just don't work for me.  Of course that is just a personal preference on my part....The way the cycle way winds its way through the high wealth neighborhood is sheer brilliance.  Very nicely done...I can really tell that you spent some time working that entire area.  Hugh's2.gif mansion looks great, I just don't see a grotto42.gif....Ahhh, a pub...I hope that I can get a quality Black & Tan2.gif  The parting shot, as always brings everything into focus.  Enjoy the rest of the week my friend.

    Hey Darmok.

Thanks for another great update. I like the park layout of that area (the whole area looks like a large park), particularly the residential sector looks very nice. But I also like the sports center very much. To connect them with the cycleways is a nice detail.

    Take care.

The cycleways are proving a valuable asset. I'll see if I can make eyecandy bridges that go across water... 3.gif

    Steve
Hey there! I'm glad you appreciate the passport, even if it's only a small thing just to let people know that I appreciate their support. 19.gif
Those buildings are in fact, german, they are : Berlin Set Part 1 R ver. 1.5 by erdmoebel
And if you do a research on the stex you'll find that he created several great lots!
When I first saw Shadow Assassin Cycleways I wanted to use them, I had to wait to begin Osgiliath cause the oter cities I was working with were already on their way and the cycleways wouldn't have fitted there. But I really think they are fun to use and great looking.
Thanks for those compliments Steve and take care.

    Sandra
You'd be surprised! It still is a problem for me, I don't know why, but every decision I made so far in Osgiliath has painted me in a corner, 34.gif and I had to worm out of every situation. First time it ever happens with a city. Though I must say that I just finished a residential sector that I really like on the south shore, and now I think I just did the painting in the corner scheme again!!! I'm in a new development and I don't know how I'll get out of this on yet!

We also have several cycleways here, that inspired me to use S_A_ lots.
Always glad to read you, Sandra and have a great week too!

    Chris
Glad you liked the high school sector, I really wanted some open space in that sector!
While placing them (the Cycleways), I had the idea of making them more useful by connecting them to some parking space so this way people can get to their work directly by that network. Unfortunately I think it's the only place where I did so. I'll work on a more elaborate network in another city! 34.gif.

And I was also waiting to find a good setup for the Deadwoods Indoor Sports Center. And finally the good spot presented itself on a plateau (pun intended).

Thanks for the visit Chris and enjoy the rest of the week

    Dan
Thanks Dan, If I remember correctly I think I begun using them in Belfalas, (see the link in Steve Sorchin answer) must be the angle at which I took the picture...or maybe it is the stout...2.gif

Well the hospital is always a good place to go for a scraped knee, and with biking those come often! 47.gif Yeah the palms, I totally agree they're not part of my background either, up north we don't see them often. 18.gif Perhaps I should try to work that particular lot in the LE. BTW, Is it possible that some plopable lots don't appear in the LE? Cause I've tried to rework some lots, and the modification I've made only appear with the growables, the plopables always keeping their original form. Just wonderin if you knew something about it. EDITED: just tried again with that particular lot last night, and it worked to an extent, that is, I was able to remove the palms, but the trees I've put to replace them, are not showing, 42.gif and I've figured out the problem I was talking about just above, I didn't know (I should have read more I guess) that the LE was saving them in the ROOT of the Plugin directory, so when I put back in the correct folder the lot in question, it turn out OK. Minus the new trees though! (I told you I was LE illiterate! But I'm still learning) 19.gif

About Hef mansion. You know Hugh! When he wants something! He made an offer that the City Council just can't refuse.
I knew you'd appreciate the little watering hole near the Indoor Sports Center. And my guess is they serve an excellent Black&Tan.

Always a pleasure to talk with you my friend, take care.

    PhilsCafe
I really appreciate your remark about the park ambiance Phil, that's exactly the feeling I want to convey, as I've said earlier I'm trying (and not always succeeding) to create pleasant communities in which I'd like to live.
Take care and see you in Acorn Creek

    Shadow_Assassin
Thanks S_A_ And a dedicated Cycle bridge would indeed be great, though knowing nothing about bridge building I think that it's probably one of the toughest thing to accomplish giving the fact that they can be of different length. Good luck with the task if you decide to undertake it!

Hey Darmok. I really like the park ambience, also in this update. I like the details like the small parking lots at the purple line el-rail station and the cycle ways passing by St Daniel's church.

The tech and terraforming shots are great. The transportation layout looks nicely planned out. And the area around the central station looks realistic with all the parking lots around it (and the BAT you're using is a nice one indeed).

You have such skill because you can have such a beautiful, and realistic city and a greatly designed one as well. The transport systems are greatly designed and I love watching magnificant cities like this be created and take shape. I looke forward to the next update and I will definately be following this CJ! 44.gif

When i first joined ST i wondered the same thing but experts like Darmok use those road
pieces to level the terrain.  If you place two single road tiles next to each other it will
level out the ground to the height of the first tile.

He is doing it to plan out where he is going to build and where the wall are going to be
(i can see a few areas) anyways it is a great method I use as well .

Hope you don't mind me answering Darmok but I learned from one of the best.

Hmm, I think I'm seeing black patches all over your terrain... better consult the eye-doctor... oh wait, that's just your terraforming. 18.gif

Great work, especially with the area around that Japanese El-rail station and St. Daniel's Church.
