Dude, you continue to amaze me.  The placement of Captain Jack's and the breakwater is unbelievable.  It looks incredible.  I really enjoed the night pic of that area and adding the ice cream place across the street is briliant as well as the outdoor tables.  The hotel is a nice touch and I like how you did the small park type area across the street there.  It just fits doesn't it?  Your use of the trails throughout the city grid is inspiring.  The look great.  I have tried downloading that version a couple of times, but I keep getting a corrupted file. arghhh...

Well, it sure looks like you figured out how to use that BSC Farming EP.  The whole farming area is stunning.
 
I really like pic 6_10 with the resort and the medium residential nearby with the church nestled back in the trees.  This is just a well thought out development.  I do have a question for you regarding this pic.  On the right side of the pic where the street meets the road, there is a blue colored BAT.  Is that a building or a billboard of some sort?  Just curious.
 
Farewell to North Cair Andros.....The global shot is fantastic BTW.  I must admit that you humble me with your kind words.  To know that I have inspired your work here in Anduin Valley is truly an honor for me.  Especially since you and Anduin Valley were the reason I started LaPlaisance County in the first place.

    Thanks for that detailed comment aldara, 10.gif and yes I've seen the Japanese seawalls, but up to now I still prefer Marrast's I guess that the japanese are more urban and I'll probably use them in an industrial context sometime.

    I thought that The Omni was a nice choice for NCA, not too big and not flashy, but elegant nonetheless.5.gif
     
    I really liked working with those deadwoods forest tracks, and when you begin to understand how they work it comes more easily.
     
    Yeah I also saw a complete village but if it's the same one I saw, it looked too much asiatic for the context. I would like to find a more neutral look.

    I'm surpised that you couldn't download it! I've just redownloaded it just now and extracted it, and it's OK now!

    And as for the BSC Farming, it's comming nicely, one of these days I'll get it right!

    I really liked that little res sector with the church and the trails in the back!

    I actually wasn't referring to the Japanese seawalls.  I was referring to the Japanese breakwaters.  There are two, one plain and one with a red thing on the end that looks kind of like a light.  Here is a pic from the second development of Tarrytowne in my CJ (the pic hasn't been posted yet so you will see it again.)  These are the Japanese breakwaters.  Look to the far left of the pic and you will see them.  Hope this helps...

    Great job Darmok! I especially liked the previous update of North Cair Andros, and i was intrigued by the pier of pic 6-11! Cool job on captain Jack's billboard. What are those things in the water, next to the concrete pier, is that a Japanese BAT? (edit: yep I see: it's the japanese breakwaters) I saw it on the STEX lately. I think the idea is cool, but it could use a much better texture don't you think?

    Just to let you know I am still keeping up with your CJ. It is very inspiring.
    I thought the Equestrian Supply store was so fitting for that area with the trails and all. Keep up the creativity. You have lots of fans.

    utora: You got it, it's the NACM Japanese Breakwaters, uploaded by our NDEX friend Ardecila! Supposedly this master naval BATter is only known as National Aviation Club Member...but it says this all in the description, lol.

    But again, IMHO I find that in general the japanese bats, have a certain hard and urban style, though I'd like VERY much to use that particular one with an Industrial seaport! You have the link for it?

    Building the network and Seaport

    The 20 following pictures will show you the making of the heart of the city of Anfalas, it's transportation network and the Industrial seaport.

    Wow, that seaport is amazing! Although I was a little surprised to see office buildings nearby, wouldn't the pollution be a big NIMBY?

    Darmok my friend.  Not much time today.  I just wanted to drop by and say that this was a great technical update.  You know how much I like the tech shots.  The only thing I would suggest you trying, and perhaps you already have, is to use an avenue for your highway bridge.  I have found that the transition looks smoother.  Of course this is a personal preference and I would in no way try to tell you how to build your cities. (like you need any help anyway)  Just thought I might be something you had never tried before.

    Looks great! I have a feeling that this seaport will be nicer than the other one...hehe...Anyways this is looking great, and don't worry about the technical pics, I really like them! And that's more than enough for a reason to keep them!9.gif Heck, I use your techniques all the time when I play!

    Hey Darmok, I really like the new banner for Anfalas, I see you are using the cartoon effect in Photoshop or possibly the GIMP ? I must say that picture 1_06 was quite a beauty, I also see that you are using the tunnelbrfslop mod to do that beautiful slope. Greak work. Thanks for the terraforming pictures for the seaport. They will help anyone who needs lessons. 48.gif Just wow on the shots of the port almost finished, really authentically pleasing. 1.gif I just love the style of your ports. Great work as usual.

    Regarding your response from last night, it was a sports car race, the series was the ALMS (American LeMans Series). I really enjoyed it, and I supose you have maybe heard of it being from canada, I think. They have a few races up there.

    Fantastic!!! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and giving us a tutorial on How to make a sea port. Its always nice to gain knowledge from experts. Hope to see more of your work soon.

    PS; Your using Black squares, what are they , what are they for and where can I get them from?

    Jacqulina,

    Those black patches, are simply a SINGLE plop of a ROAD tile. just choose the road tool in the menu, and then instead of dragging a certain lenght of road just click once where you want it to be and repeat as much as needed.
     
    To level a more wide surface, you may plop them in a criss cross pattern something like this:
     
    X X X X X X X X X X
     X X X X X X X X X
    X X X X X X X X X X
     
    So this way you plop only half and have the same results almost in every situation. Sometimes you'll have to plop several squares in a row, but usually the alternance method works quite well!

    I wonder, where is the rest of Anfalas...because I remember a preview shot of a mayor's house in it about 1 month ago...and I think it might be across that small river right? 29.gif

    First, your request.  I don't have the exact location of the file.  I know it is in the Japanese BAT thread, but I spent an hour looking through all the 40+ pages and didn't see the picture for it anymore.  But, I do have good news...I found the .ZIP file on my computer and can email it to you.  It is to big to be attached it to this thread (811 Kb), so just PM me with your email address and I'll email it to you!!  44.gif  Christmas in May!!  17.gif

    I thought about laying out my major transportation networks before but I've never done it.  I think for my next major city in the region, I will be doing it that way.  Lots of inspiration and all that...  29.gif44.gif
